I’ve loved Rahul ever since the pilot of iZombie and I’m so glad that he’s getting so many amazing roles. I cannot wait to see what else is to come for him. Please have him back soon, really enjoyed this one!
I love how open Rahul is about being emotional. That's a tough thing for a man to say sometimes. But because he's so open about that, I feel with him. When he said the affirmation from the izombie casting director, I got tears in my eyes because I could feel what he's feeling. He's awesome. I don't think he has anything to figure out or change about his emotionality. No one would tell a woman she should control emotions so they're compartmentalized. He's just very human. I think the way he is could be very inspirational to men who are told there's something wrong with them for being emotional.
I was already a big fan but hearing about how Mike Flanagan treats his actors made me much much more in love with his work, imagine not knowing when will your next job come and then the director says to you "by the way, we're working together again soon" THAT MUST FEEL SO GOOD TO HEAR and such a nice thing to do for people.
He was amazing in iZombie, but I found it was Rose McIver's talent for playing different characters so well was as much a reason for me to keep watching.
@@spacelem true she was fantastic, and Blaine/Malcolm Goodwin were fun to watch as well. Honestly that show had a great concept. I think what ended up hurting it was the season long plot arcs that just got a bit too ridiculous.
This was lovely, I remember seeing him in iZombie and thinking, "Where has this guy been? He's great!", was my favorite character. Kinda made me think of a British Zachary Levi, just that friendly nerd energy. Always a plus when a person is a little nerdy or passionate about something 😄.
I swear every interview I hear of Kohli's always gives me a new vantage point to appreciate. Model painting has always self-deprecatingly been that "weird nerdy shit," but thinking of it as a sort of meditation gives me a new way to articulate why I love the hobbies I do! (Loved the random Gundam shout-out too!)
This episode is amazing. Having been a fan of Rahul for years now it’s great to see him get a platform to share his experience and show to a wider audience how awesome he is. This is so dope to see!
Just got done watching. Such an inspirational guy. As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, I am glad to know that this talented and famous man has not let his visual challenges stand in his way.. This was an incredible interview that I know a lot of people will be able to relate to on so many levels. Thank you Rosey.
This has been my favorite interview so far. I watched Midnight Mass over the weekend (after watching this and finding out Rahul was in it) and I loved it, he was brilliant in it 💙
Rahul's great. The subtlety in his performance in Midnight Mass is so good. Seems like a fun person to hang out with. His openness and honesty is really admirable. And he's funny!
Such a great episode so far. I have enjoyed listening to this episode this morning. Inside of you Tuesday is the best day of the week. I am definitely learning a lot more about Rahul.
Rahul and I agree about Jack from The Shining. That was my problem with the change from the book as well. Jack from the film hated and resented his family from the start…that was not book Jack. The movie Doctor Sleep was a great firmware update to it and that’s a great way to talk about it.
Rahul is one of the best actors, who should be noticed more by studios and casting directors. His acting choices are so rewarding and as a human being he is very real and honest. Can't wait to see more of him.
Hearing y'all talk about Vancouver is kinda surreal even though I know iZombie and Smallville was filmed here. My heart also goes out to Rahul's struggle with our weather, living in a temperate rainforest can be a real struggle sometimes. Love this episode!
1:07:50 is the timestamp for talking about the iZombie ending, if someone was interested (I was and I had to listen to the whole thing on 2x speed 😅 all for a 30 second long answer, yay)
Great episode as usual! Ryan , keep the 'stache! Rosey, had a great time at the NWA Comicon, your Q&A was fun and thanks again for signing my "Sorority Boys" DVD! Hope to catch you either in St. Louis or Metropolis!
He is wise beyond his years. Hope to see him in more things! Art night sounds fun! I liked that conversation about using hobbies to reconnect and the honest discussion about therapy. Everything you said about Vancouver also applies to Seattle 😅. Beautiful but gray!! Been spreading the word about this podcast. Thank you 🙌✨
Wonderfully insightful episode. Loved Rahul in iZombie. Thanks to Ryan for asking the question about London and Vancouver weather (it was exactly what I was thinking, lol!)
This week’s episode was delightful. Rahul definitely opens up and he has so many great stories. I learned so much about him. A part would be awesome. Loving the stache.
Always liked Rahul. He’s a very talented actor and a genuine person. Love his work. I like how he’s not afraid to show his “nerdy” side. Gundam and Star Wars etc. Hope one day he gets a role in Star Wars. Maybe an older Ezra.
Michael , i loved you on Smallville - you're the greatest Lex Luthor of all time. Recently started listening to your podcasts, and its one of the best out there. The interviews are phenomenal. They feel like genuine authentic conversations. Keep it up!
Good episode, I'll definitely look into his work. Tried to get into izombie when it premiered, the story was just ehh. But always love your closing comments. As someone that started his own mental health podcast, I'm constantly getting into my own head and telling myself it's stupid and won't get you anything, but still pushing forward. Take care.
Absolutely love this for a lot of reasons. The honesty is disarming. I'm guessing we're talking cyclothymia here. (Lots of stigma attached to all sorts of diagnoses and I know this is not *for* anyone specifically but it *could* help people to make a distinction between bipolar and cyclothymia) I am glad Rahul is putting in the work for his mental health irrespective of the approaches to it. Love the way he described painting the miniatures, very relatable. Therapy comes in all forms and doesn't have to lead to medication always. (Bingeing on Rahul's shows and content has helped me get out of my head lately. Came here for the thirst traps to distract myself now I'm invested in this man's wellbeing XD )
Also, I loved Sheriff Hassan. The character was written really well, too. The careful restraint and helplessness despite knowing his strength was palpable. And the way Rahul spoke about how he felt like he wasn't really doing much kind of sounds like how Hassan would have felt in Midnight Mass for the most part- being equipped to do a lot more but keeping it toned down to play his part. I'm probably reading too much into it but I definitely felt that way. I have a lot of feelings, yes.
That dude has such a range when it comes to acting. He literally turns into a whole different person so it is wild that it took so long for him to be discovered.
Rahul is fucking awesome. I love his work with Mike F, but I've never seen I Zombie, even though I'm certain that it's named after a White Zombie song. Might have to watch that, despite the ending...thank you!
Wow...another great episode. I think I just had my Mark Hamill moment, that he remembers me from the Con in Arkansas and him remembering our meet like that is just awesome...For people that are on the fence on meeting Rosey, it's definitely worth the time and mileage...PS. Might want to bring a shield because he is deadly with his nerf gun!!!! 😋
Glad I'm not the only one that thought the ending of iZombie was rushed. Like it didn't ruin the show for me obviously because I loved it and I get what they were going for but to kinda just go "it all ended up basically fine in the end, this happened then this happened" and then it was over. Kinda reminded me of what WB did to Suicide Squad when they recut/edited it and suddenly whole chunks were cut out and there was just voiceovers going "anyways they fell in love" and it's like "we've got so long to tell this story and you skipped over that bit?"
Reading the comments have renewed my love for Rahul Kohli. Coz, it's true. He is amazing and a great actor. I'm so happy more people feel the same way. It disheartening that he isn't in a lead role. Like Mike get on that or some director, he is really the greatest and I have loved him since I Zombie and he was so much fun to watch just him being around. I stopped since the military arc was coming. Other than that i'm so happy reading all the comments appreciating him. He is truly amazing. I'm so happy other people feel the same.
Good show, haven't watched Midnight Mass yet but really enjoyed this. As someone who has done model building (even Gundam building, I do recommend it those kits are very cathartic) as therapy it was good to hear about it from someone random like this.
Another wonderful actor. I watch couple of iZombie episodes and he is amazing in that show. When he did the live stream Netflix couple of years back with promoting new series and shows coming to the streaming platform it was so good.

What a great interview - I follow Rahul on Twitter and he's great. As a non-entertainment person, its hard to understand what actors go through when we see these incredible performances like Midnight Mass. Plus - damn he's hot.
I personally love his character in iZombie especially towards the end when he too gets affected and me as a woman when he calls it (which i related it to myself) his “monthlies”… it was the most adorable name for it. BUT the way he portrayed is was empowering in the way that this is what it is and no buts and ifs about it. But also his character approached everything with a curiosity that is hard to find. One of the best written characters in my opinion.
58:00 - I have a huge distrust of American medicine too, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and EMDR treatment are what got me to process my CPTSD traumas, recognize my own toxic behaviours, and start new habits or routines to improve myself. They say Bipolar 2 is just a "less intense" form where you're mostly depressed...but I was depressed only due to trauma and any "highs" I had were prescription medication induced. (:
Rahul seems like a cool guy. Going to enjoy listening to this during my commute this morning. Hope everyone has an amazing week. 😊💙.. P.S., really digging Ryan’s stash..classic.
I started painting miniatures during COVID, not because I had any interest in painting but because I own a lot of board games with boring grey minis and wanted to give them some color. Painting is absolutely therapeutic and I can get lost in painting for 2-3 hours at a time. Even if you think you're not artistic, painting minis is a lot like coloring within the lines. It's a skill like any other and can be super addictive!
I guess maybe because izombie was the first thing I ever saw him in, I always transposed the character of Ravi onto the actor. It was really cool hearing that he is nothing like that in real life.
I love what I've seen of Rahul's work, and I'm so glad he's been noticed! I'm surprised that Rahul is an emotionally volatile personality, because his characters I've only seen iZombie and Bly Manor) are so steady. Beware of a bipolar diagnosis! It has been a fad diagnosis for decades now. As someone who feels everything very acutely, I was diagnosed as "atypical bipolar" in my mid-20s, because I described my happy days as euphoric and my bad days as full of despair. I then went through several years of meds that I did not need, and that made me ill. (What I had was a food allergy; among my reactions are looooong crying jags) If you're "cycling" within a single day, or if the medical professional says that your manic stage might be presenting as high anxiety, be very wary. I know truly bipolar people. They can't hold down jobs or keep relationships. They forget where they've been for weeks at a time. They're getting arrested for reckless behavior, wrecking their cars, getting up at 3am to renovate the house... then they sleep all the time and don't eat for a few months. Living in a rainy climate for years on end without a permanent home, and being uncertain from year to year that you will have a job -- that all sounds like a recipe for being depressed and for acting out. Btw people with Attention Deficit disorders can have mood cycles that look like mild bipolar.
I didn't mind the series finale of IZombie. Don't get me wrong I feel like they could have added a bit more between present day to the 10 years later thing but I like the ending.
1:02:00. I find it funny that people find grey, rainy weather miserable. I am the opposite! If it is sunny & warm outside, I am miserable. I live in New England and love that we have snow for 7 months out of the year, 2 months of rain, 1 month of cloudy, & THEN maybe 2 months of sun. I hiss at the sun--hahaha. I find cold air exhilarating & a great way to wake up the senses. Hot air, warm weather, & humidity just wipes me out. Different strokes for different folks....
Wow, I’m your polar opposite, I guess we cancel each other out, lol. I’m a southern girl but have lived all over for work, including the NE and Seattle. I’ve been back down where I belong since 2015, and I ain’t leaving again! I about kissed the ground when I got back. I hate bundling up, I hate being out in the wet, I busted my ass on the ice more times than I can count, I hate scraping ice off my car…it’s a long list. Winter and snow is fun for a week or two, sadly it lasts for MONTHS up there, ugh. I no longer even own a coat, it’s glorious.
I screamed when I saw the guest! Freaking love Rahul's work. He should be a lead of a Netflix show. Needs to happen!
Oh god I can’t wait untill he gets a leading man role it’ll blow my socks off I’ve already burned through all of his earlier work.
Agreed!!!
This is the best interview Rahul has given since he was on Talking Stalkings.

Winter and snow is fun for a week or two, sadly it lasts for MONTHS up there, ugh. I no longer even own a coat, it’s glorious.
Watched this afternoon and will listen tonight ❤
