Just subscribed to you today and this video is outstanding. I like your energy and wisdom. In my 68 years, I never learned any of these ideas from my parents, schools, church, employers. I was often shamed for my money mistakes and told to make better choices. I am a man with autism - diagnosed at 60 and I also grew up with internalized shame and untreated depression. Doing better emotionally today, but I have no faith in the 'traditional' institutions of society any more.
Rose…remember last year when we got scammed by people impersonating you? As you know, we are an older couple, and we got scammed out of our entire their life savings. What I don’t get is, Rose, you KNEW it was going on and did nothing. It was a very elaborate con, so we put it all on rosehanscam for all to see- It’s very sad that you didn’t do a thing to protect us all. Why didn’t you take responsibility? Rose…why? You were kind at first, but then you got defensive once you saw that it was truly your fault for not letting everyone know…and then you ghosted us.
I grew up with a poor mindset. Everybody around me had the same mindset as I was growing up. To this day, I don't know anyone who has a rich mindset. Thank goodness for the internet because if not for it, I think I wouldn't even know about the different mindsets around money.
Love her wisdom, energy, common sense and how she analyzes who influences you from growing up. She points out the key to be organized and not ignore your debts and taking control of your finances. She is so right not to listen to others who are not experienced nor skilled in finances. People tend to listen to others and feel like failures because of the negativity, when they can just turn their situations around just owning themselves and starting to organize themselves day by day and learning from people like Rose Han. Thank you for this! I needed to hear this during this time. God bless you Miss Han!
Beautiful video! I'm glad it mentioned the Christmas holidays because so many people are ill-prepared for the holidays then spend the holidays complaining that everything is "too expensive" for them. Also foolish is when people have spent themselves into deep debts, have little or no expendable income and become bitter or resentful toward those who are in better shape financially.
This is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time. I learned a lot and I did have a problem with buying things I can't afford. I know it is so normalized nowadays to buy something off credit but I'll need to unlearn that thought!!! Finding good mentors and inner circle of quality wealthy people is important too and I know I can find them!! Thank you Rose!
This is a great list! I believe the biggest one is "Stop normalizing debt". I listen to Dave Ramsey a lot, and I'm always surprised at how many people call in and have 6 figure debt levels and they act like it's no big deal. "Hey Dave, I have $250k in student loans, $50k in credit card debt, should I take out a HELOC in order to renovate my home?". They are not at all worried by the staggering level of debt they have - and they should be.
Agree, irresponsible people take out debt/loans irresponsibly. Just know Dave is on the extreme. Almost everyone who becomes wealthy or is wealthy has a credit card... they just pay it off every month. Almost every successful business and any wealthy person has taken out a substantial loan before. For many of the people that need Dave's help, this is a death sentence. However, it is just what almost every wealthy person does because they are responsible.
I knowww it's shocking :( I blame it on credit card companies and loan companies that have huge marketing budgets, whereas nothing is taught in schools about how debt works. Dave Ramsey is on the extreme "no debt" spectrum of things but there's a lot of value in that mindset. Personally I think debt is ok if used responsibly (i.e. you spend intentionally and pay off your card every month, you have a mortgage on a reasonably-sized home, etc.), but that's a big IF!
I've come to realize that money is a tool. I’ve worked so hard over the years to realize that if you don’t make money work for you, you can’t experience true freedom. fully retired with over $3.5million, my dividends is supplementing my retirement at the moment. started saving and investing in 2010 in growth, No regrets and financially free
You're really doing well for yourself, my retirement plans are going down the drain, I've tried investing in the stock market several times but always got discouraged by fluctuations of stock value

Also, I would add stop eating out regularly to this list. The cost of eating out at even an average restaurant is outrageous. On special occasions is okay but not regularly.

Wow, this is so true. Thank you for being you and so open with everything. I have found so much value and truth in your videos. It’s been a game changer for me! Can’t thank you enough!! ❤🙏🏼
I believe so too.. personally I was able to grow my finances and assets due to personal insight. I saw the opportunities the market space presented and took advantage of them. I’ve been inclined with a portfolio manager and Fixed income planner in the USA.
Are you sure? Rose…remember last year when we got scammed by people impersonating you? As you know, we are an older couple, and we got scammed out of our entire their life savings. I didn't grow up wealthy, noir do I have a degree. Basically I worked my but off, took advantage of my opportunities and skills by using the internet as a tool for making money. But most importantly I lived with bare minimum to get head. I was able to save tremendously and live comfortably. I've told friends and family along the way of my plans and they ignored me. Only people with gocus and drive will continue to be successful. Even with inherited wealth. If you lack discipline you're still going to lose.

Your advise is focused on Financial only and there is more to a successful life than money, need to expand life's focus by concentrating on Physical, Financial, & Intellectual goals, they all pay off. Life is better when you are physically fit. Life is better when you are financially secure. Life is better when you have skills and capabilities to handle life's problems. Above all, ask yourself continually throughout your life "What can I do to improve my situation", a little self analysis on problems and solutions goes a long way.
Hi Rose, I recently came across your content and really appreciate what you are sharing. You are so right. In the past I used to earn over $250k per year and still be broke! I am in a different situation now where I am starting a new chapter of my life after few key life events like health transformation and a divorce. - I am grateful and happy that I am a better person because of these experiences! 💪
Avoid crab people! In a tank full of crabs, if one crab starts to escape, the others will pinch and pull the escaping crab back into the tank. The same can be true for people climbing out of bad financial habits.
To quote bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman: "Everybody wants to look like a bodybuilder, nobody wants to lift those heavy-ass *weights!*" Getting rich often just takes self-discipline, and unfortunately that's something a LOT of people don't have.
So true, that is key! Plus: Rose…remember last year when we got scammed by people impersonating you? As you know, we are an older couple, and we got scammed out of our entire their life savings. Great content like always and yes you are right., Here in Europe we do buy most things paying cash. This credit card culture is not very common here and I think it is a good thing. Getting in consumer debt ist the worst thing you can get into. Interest rates on consumer credits are a total rip-off and the basical mindset of many people here (i am from Germany) is "if you can't pay for it in cash, you can't afford it".
Hey Rose. Thank you for reteaching these five great tips! I agree 💯 that our society encourages debt and false prosperity. Over the years, I have improved the way I handle and spend money; but I want to learn more and do better. ~Myra
I viewed your video on How to start investing for beginners and i luv it, it was so easy to understand what you were talking about. I came home and had to share it with my family so that they can understand a little bit more. Because of you i started my kids investments, now I have been looking at more of your videos.

You do good presentations. Your voice. Your writing & organization. Your passion. And I believe you enjoy doing these videos. There's also a positive feel of motivational speaking...
A caveat is that family who are financially successful achieved that in a different world than 2023. So what they recommend worked for them but is not applicable today, so they don't know how to advise us for 2023.
@@itsrosehanit was A LOT easier to buy a house in 1983 that cost $150K than it is to buy a house that is $1 million in 2023. That is how much my parent's house is valued at now. They bought it for $150K in 1983.
Hey Rose, im definitely subscribe to the your channel of financial knowledge. I have been listening to your videos for a while. I recently just got done paying my $78,000 student loans off. Thanks for all your knowledge, wisdom and insight you provide in all the videos posted. Much appreciated for guidance you provided for my journey being debt free.
You are so right about normalizing debt!!! I think banks want this though, that's how they get so rich lol . My partner is from a different country where they don't have debt, they just accumulate the money to buy something so he didn't understand this when he got to Canada. But here, things are so expensive that it's hard to just accumulate money to pay for something ... impossible to buy a house cash, even a car can be hard.
You forgot the 6th on this list- Self preserve your wealth and security. If you have gotten far enough by working and putting yourself first and on where you're at financially, security safeguard your wealth and stop helping the same so call friends, family, peoples pleasing everyone and their mothers to not look bad. You're lending them "help money" subscribing to their wants but in reality not realizing you're "paying" them to keep them away until the cash faucet you supposed is turned off permanently, but they keep coming back for more cash that's unknowingly keeping you poor even months past after Christmas. Zero means zero.
Coming from Europe to Canada, i really had a hard time with credit card and be forced to use them to built credit.... You don't have money, you don't buy stuf, it's how i hvave been raised... Thank yoyu for the video :)
I have saving buckets that i put money into each month. CHRISTMAS, CAR MAINTENANCE, BIRTHDAYS, ETC. Facebook has a bunch of saving challenges that people have joined.
I find it helps to keep a financial calendar of those regular annual or quarterly expenses, so that they don't catch me unawares. Plus a wee fund to cover unexpected ones that turn up out of the blue.
That’s been huge for me & I don’t hear it talked about enough. I would forget things like car registration, family birthdays etc. then I added a tab to my budget spreadsheet for these, and each month I check and make sure to account for these.
Dear Rose, I wanted to express my heartfelt appreciation for addressing these five fundamental issues that profoundly affect the majority of us in our daily lives. Your dedication to bringing them to the forefront and offering solutions is truly commendable. After watching your exceptional video, I have decided to delay my purchase of a new electric Mercedes-Benz car. It has become evident that these obstacles are indeed genuine challenges that we must confront in our lives. Thank you for your valuable insights and for shedding light on these crucial matters.
The only thing I disagree with and is controversial is starting your own business. It’s high risk, especially if it’s your first time. So do your research and have a cushion if all fails. However, if you have the means to do it, don’t give up. I’ve seen so many family fail in business, due to lack of confidence, knowledge, funds, etc.
I am glad and i little bit proud that i dont do any of the 5 Things, but i should not be too proud, because i am still not rich and i know i could do better
Some debt is good though. I bought my house for $436,000 less than 5 years ago and it's worth over $600,000 now. My mortgage rate was 3.9% which is not the best but compared to what it is today it's pretty dang good. My house continues to appreciate and I basically live here for free. I'm lucky to have this debt.
from my own experience as someone living in the Middle Europe, so many people live in debt here as well... it might look slightly different because usually there are no student loans but mortgages, leasing, gear or even holiday debts are a pretty common standard situation... I think, people in general lack financial education, that is why I appeciate what you do so much! thanks!
I have no debt other than utilities, I have investments and I keep investing, so I am doing OK. I try to advise young people on how to invest and get out of debt, most will listen, but many will not do what it takes to get out of debt!
My parents or friends never had credit cards until very recently. We're millenials in Portugal. It wasn't a thing. If you don't have the money you don't buy it (except house or car).
Rose, I am in debt, 200k from college loans at Oberlin, majoring in English Lit. Now I'm a barista at Starbucks and I see tough times paying it all back, given the interests I need to pay. Can you assist me ?
First off, have you looked into student loan forgiveness programs? Like this one: studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service Secondly, depending on how high the interest is, have you looked into student loan consolidation or refinancing? This only applies if your loans are high-interest. Otherwise, it's just finding a way to move the career ladder or start a side hustle to make more income, and just pay it off the good old-fashioned way. When you have a lot of monthly cashflow, you'll find that you can pay down debt very very quickly, so it'll be very important to find ways to significantly increase your income!
@@itsrosehan yes I have delved into your suggestions. But: What do you think of just accepting the accruing debt then fleeing to a developing country(India?) at some point? I won't even say ethics aside because I find these institutions/lending services quite predatory and exploitative. the amount owed is unmanageable given the high cost of living, inflation and wage stagnation. Structural viewpoint-America with its 33 trillion in debt-means that my generation will endure slower growth while the debt needs to be repaid in the next 20 years. Things will get more expensive.

Rose, you mentioned it would be wise to read books from wealthy individuals to gain insight from them. do you have a recommended list of books one should read?
Besides all the good points Rose mentioned, people un-estimate how life insurance with living benefits is a game changer. You are young but it does not mean you are healthy … and we are not born bullet proof. I have witnessed many people either being evicted or foreclosed their houses due to financial difficulties. Insure everyone in the house as long as you can afford to create generational wealth. Look into living benefits life insurance that you can use it while you are alive - nobody needs to die to claim it
You are super right in everything, except in one... USA are considering the greatest economy of the world... But, based in FMI stats, the richest country in the world is Luxembourg (USA is the 9th or 10th place...)
Once i had someone tell me that the best way to manage my money is to get myself in debt, take loans, because it would make me be more attentive with where i put money. I said okay thanks but in my mind, i was like uhhhhh no thank you. I worry about money already. I don't need debt for that
Hi from Australia just saw your video, you are so real and authentic Rose. I have some questions .. How about if I prefer living in the room that does not share with others in a good environment as I want to have my own privacy to do my own stuff, experiment things as you said in another video and surround myself who can pay to live here but shared room with another will save more but no privacy at all. I mean the same room that you sleep but share the kitchen and others. Do you think it’s a big deal or just try to find they way to pay it because I choose it?
I am guilty of one of the 5 things. I normalize debt. I always say, everyone is in Credit Card debt, so it's no big deal. I do know better, but it's sometimes comforting. I am working on reducing my Credit card debt though.
Rich people have rich kids because dad can make large donations to universities, have private tutors doing their projects for them, buy establish companies for their kids to start learning about business etc.. and poor kids usually will spend many many years trying to become wealthy. I believe is more than a mindset.
I think she acknowledged that. But it's also true that poor money habits are passed down through the generations. Once you realize that, you can do better (maybe not get wealthy overnight, but you can do better than you did).
Steve Jobs wore black turtle necks and jeans everyday because he had autism. It's not unusual for those with autism or aspergers to do such things. Nothing to do with finances or humbleness.
That was never confirmed so it is pure speculation. Some others speculate that it reduces energy expenditure by not having to make a decision about what to wear.
He also traded in and purchased the same exact vehicle every month so he wouldn't need to register it. You get 30 days before you need to register a new vehicle.
I'm still poor. But I'm debt free. I am taking boot camp to land a career in IT. Since I have a degree in cybersecurity. Hoping to land an job making 45k and move up in two years.

One way to avoid most car breakdowns is to have a full vehicle inspection every few months. That way the problems are caught ahead of time.
Having a car is sometimes unnecessary and if a person doesn't make much money, it's smarter to take public transportation.

Yesss love to hear it, keep it up! Learning to spend your money intentionally is a gamechanger!
Keeping my head in the sand is very relatable 😅. There’s a saying in my community, “even if you throw it away, count how much you throw away”.
I do keep track of the thousands I throw away in gambling. 😢
Wow, this is so true. Thank you for being you and so open with everything. I have found so much value and truth in your videos. It’s been a game changer for me! Can’t thank you enough!! ❤🙏🏼
Really glad I started following you! The knowledge is so needed and so appreciated. Thank you Rose 🌹
You are doing so much good for the society. Well said!!
That is true; plus:

4:00 stop normalizing Christmas debt too. I shop early to be done shopping by halloween.
Christmas shopping is expendable, just give $30 gift cards; weddings are money down the drain, just elope.

JT automation sent me here!! Fell in love with your 8 passive income video. Thank you your god sent.
You explained this point so well Rose You're an inspiration Thank you!
To quote bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman: "Everybody wants to look like a bodybuilder, nobody wants to lift those heavy-ass *weights!*" Getting rich often just takes self-discipline, and unfortunately that's something a LOT of people don't have.
And “light weight!” Me and my bro used to say that in the gym constantly.
Haven’t heard that quote in years!!!
@@amberforosisky2513 I’m bringing it back! Jk we just said it to make fun of ourselves because it really wasn’t a lot of weight usually.
So true, that is key! Plus:

So happy to see you making content during such a hard economic time! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!
Always appreciate your tough love
you are one of my inspiration to my path to financial freedom! thanks Rose!
Loved the video, minus the celebrity/rich evil people references. Thank you, Rose! 🌹
You do good presentations. Your voice. Your writing & organization. Your passion. And I believe you enjoy doing these videos. There's also a positive feel of motivational speaking...
Soooo happy to have found your channel, I watch every video - I consider you a big mentor of mine now! So knowledgable and someone I aspire to be
Welcome aboard! Wow that means the WORLD to me! Lots more helpful videos to come, thank you for being here ☺️❤️
BET YOU ROSE has tons of Credit Card Debt. Most woman I know owe between $30k - $100k in credit card debt.
A caveat is that family who are financially successful achieved that in a different world than 2023. So what they recommend worked for them but is not applicable today, so they don't know how to advise us for 2023.
That's an interesting point... it's not just bad money advice being passed down but also OUTDATED money advice. Thank you for pointing that out!
Rose is a legend ! Thank you 🙏🏿
You forgot the 6th on this list- Self preserve your wealth and security.
Rose, you are a blessing. Thank you so very much!
SO Glad I found you on here
It's definitely going to change my life
Thank you 🙏
A very wise young lady.
Awesome! Thank you!
@@melissam6037 that's awesome 😀
This is dope. Great reminders! Thanks for all you do. Appreciate it all over the years 👊🏾🔥
You must be an OG subscriber ♥️ Thanks for being here!
Very Good Rose!!!!!!!!
So glad I came across your content ❤
So true!! What u said. I’m with u on that!
Love this Rose! Ty!
from my own experience as someone living in the Middle Europe, so many people live in debt here as well... it might look slightly different because usually there are no student loans but mortgages, leasing, gear or even holiday debts are a pretty common standard situation... I think, people in general lack financial education, that is why I appeciate what you do so much! thanks!
Escape the Creep: How to Build Wealth While Living Well is a great book to check out as supplementary material.
I am going to be financially free soon
Hiya in your country do you pay it back after earning a specific amount? Or do you payback with any salary? Starbucks hourly pay?
@@smann7236I am in the USA; 13 dollars a hour. You pay back based on monthly timeframe....LIfe sucks in America...
First off, have you looked into student loan forgiveness programs? Like this one: studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service
Secondly, depending on how high the interest is, have you looked into student loan consolidation or refinancing?

You're very good at what you do and love your energy! Great tips and your sincerity in really wanting people to avoid pitfalls and to do well financially really shines through!

Rose, you mentioned it would be wise to read books from wealthy individuals to gain insight from them. do you have a recommended list of books one should read?
there are plenty of book recommendations on Rose' channel
Books in bio of videos
@jamesjayvlogs1962 yup...would've been smart to start there first. Thanks!
Look into living benefits life insurance that you can use it while you are alive - nobody needs to die to claim it
I am loving your channel!!
We all die and cant take it with us.
😆😆
You are super right in everything, except in one... USA are considering the greatest economy of the world... But, based in FMI stats, the richest country in the world is Luxembourg (USA is the 9th or 10th place...)
Once i had someone tell me that the best way to manage my money is to get myself in debt, take loans, because it would make me be more attentive with where i put money.
I said okay thanks but in my mind, i was like uhhhhh no thank you. I worry about money already. I don't need debt for that
Fantastic video! I always learn something when I watch this channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences.
♥️♥️
Rose could you please talk about your streams of income, how you built them and how you sustain your life without having to work "hard"
You are inspirational! 🥰🥰🥰😻😻
Thank you for inspiring people & giving guidance as to how to get to a better life!
Thank you, Rose
Rich people have rich kids because dad can make large donations to universities, have private tutors doing their projects for them, buy establish companies for their kids to start learning about business etc.. and poor kids usually will spend many many years trying to become wealthy. I believe is more than a mindset.
79% of millionaires are self made. The mindset that the parents did it for them is an excuse and what a person just wants to believe.
I think she acknowledged that. But it's also true that poor money habits are passed down through the generations. Once you realize that, you can do better (maybe not get wealthy overnight, but you can do better than you did).
Thank you Rose for this information
Very true!
I love your content, Rose.

This episode fits nicely with The Richest Man in Babylon.
That was a very good book. But if you liked that one, try reading The Wealthy Gardner”. Also really good but much more contemporary and relateable.
She makes a very valid and often overlooked🎉 point; mindset
Steve Jobs wore black turtle necks and jeans everyday because he had autism. It's not unusual for those with autism or aspergers to do such things. Nothing to do with finances or humbleness.
That was never confirmed so it is pure speculation. Some others speculate that it reduces energy expenditure by not having to make a decision about what to wear.
He also traded in and purchased the same exact vehicle every month so he wouldn't need to register it. You get 30 days before you need to register a new vehicle.
A lot of videos like this mention to invest, stocks but don't say how to invest, I need to invest but don't know where to start any help with that?
