- After seeing the weather forecast for August 14/15 in the Delaware/Maryland area looking to be sunny, warm, and not too humid, I decided upon railfanning the high speed Northeast Corridor in this region. I caught lots of fast action at Newark, Perryville, Aberdeen, and Edgewood before catching action further north at Claymont, Marcus Hook, Eddystone, Ridley Park, Prospect Park, Levittown, and Bristol. Lots of ACS64’s, Acela Expresses, Amtrak work trains, MARC, Septa, and Conrail Shared Assets trains. Hornshows aplenty. Most enjoyable experience watching the triple digit speed lightning bolts.
Really enjoyable and interesting video of the Northeast Corridor activities. Thanks Tim.🥰😀👍👌
Great video! I love light rail and urban mass transit. This gives me ideas for incorporating trolleys into my model railroad layout.
Nice video. I thank you for sharing Eddystone and mentioning the Baldwin Locomotive Works. My paternal grandfather used to work there.
About a mile north of the Newark station the CSX Philly sub passes through town with plenty of grade crossing
Ahh my all time fav Amtrak Trains, them passing over the bridges 🌉 is completely a major highlight hehe. The sounds uff Dammmm. Also Yesss A Prime Mover in action is everything ahh man complete complete music 🎶 to my ears 👂 the Best Sounding EMD Locomotives. If I go out tomorrow I could possibly rock my Geep CSX shirt I acquired from Amazon hehe. Fantastic captures and video my Brothaaa.
1:42 echo effect nice. The next shot of the engine idling I see the horn has two bells facing rear. Also the roof is notched to facilitate the horns to sit lower most likely for low clearances. What a beautiful engine I fondly remember it as LI 277. It probably had the loudest horns of the fleet back then.
That it did.
Absolutely love the views (and sounds!) of trains crossing the bridge. Thanks much for what you do for us, Tim
I really enjoyed this video! Lots of variety and endless trains from the multiple agencies of the Mid Atlantic region. Great job, Tim!
Thanks for visiting Perryville! You should try to come back on a Sunday around 11-12. Amtrak runs 2 Northeast Regionals (121 and 122) with a Metroliner Cab. 121 is the train with the cab leading.
Allways the Best!!!
awesome video enjoyed it
Great video! I love this!! These trains are awesome!! I love it a lot!!
Rumor has an Amtrak will be bringing back through service from Chicago to Miami
Unlikely considering their last CHI-MIA train (the Floridian) was a disaster
@@nathanielcoleman5694this rumored train will be a combination of the Capital Limited and the Silver Star
Those birds are ospreys. They like to nest in high places, especially catenary towers😂
I thought they were hawks at first, but they didn’t sound like hawks
Going out on the boat or hell even fishing near the Susquehanna bridge as the trains would go by would be insanely nice
I’m surprised the old position light are still in use on such a busy corridor. Thanks
great video
Before coming to Amtrak, I worked for the Valley Railroad in CT. I worked with Bob Giannuzzi just before his retirement. He was at one point the senior engineer on the LIRR, and GP38-2 262 was named in his honor.
I rode with him once on 258. Great guy.
Nice video 😊
There are pilings a few yards downstream of the Susquehanna River bridge at Havre de' Grace (sp?). Was that an earlier bridge for this line, or for a former railroad now abandoned?
There was an earlier bridge that was torn down, but it looks like they’re going to build a brand new one in the same spot
@@3985uprrThats what I heard. But I also thought they said those old bridge piers would be removed and new ones installed for the new bridge.
I went just a little further than this last weekend to Richmond, Norfolk, and Newport News. Both trains we took were 2 hours late (we were originally supposed to be on 141 on Friday but that hit a car so we got switched to 95 which was late on top of the 2-hr gap between 141 and 95). On the way back we were on 124, the clunker that makes Aberdeen and Newark DE but I slept from Baltimore to Philadelphia. We pulled into Metropark past 1 am and encountered numerous slow zones on both legs. 95 took a whole 4 hours to make it from NY to DC! But at least he runs express through VA only making Alexandria, Fredericksburg, Richmond, Petersburg, and Norfolk. The weekday version of 124, 186, is much better. He still makes New Carrollton and BWI Airport but skips Aberdeen, Newark DE, and Trenton. I took it last year coming up from DC on a $10 ticket.
Do you know when Newark Station will be finished and Marc will extend service? It seems like they just stopped making progress after they finished the building. The whole project was supposed to be finished by the end of this year.
Haven’t heard anything anything on it

1:11:07 wasbthat an equipment move with the Viewliner on the end, sandwhiching the Viewliner Baggage car or is it being used for crew accommodations.
Not sure
The first Lakeland stop is discharge only on the Star and the second is receiving only. You can't buy a Lakeland-Lakeland ticket unfortunately. Also, catch the Silver Star while you can because in November, they're doing away with it as well as the Capitol Limited. They'll run a through 2-night train from Chicago-Miami via Washington, DC which sucks for me as a New York-Tampa passenger because now I have to either transfer in DC or transfer to a bus in Orlando. Actually fun fact, Tampa sees almost as high ridership as Orlando despite seeing half the trains since the Meteor doesn't stop there so it's well worth the 2-hr deviation especially when you have the option of taking the Meteor right through it.
Interesting
Lakeland to Lakeland made for an interesting anecdote.
31:29 there is a NB that stops there: 640
Yes. My bad
What senator liked trains Thomas...
I really hate that rickety old bridge crossing the Susquehanna river
Why are the trains in Newark Delaware stopped on the second track to pick up passengers isn't that dangerous?
The track they walk across, isn’t used until the rush-hour

When did you go to Aberdeen? Great video!!
Last week.
Hope that was helpful but you may already know or will find out
Retired rail guy I don't know if you have the information already but I'm giving you heads up just in case you don't know or if you don't get all rides free New Jersey Transit and bus will be free from August 26th to Labor Day a gift from the agency for a bunch of delays at the passengers had to go through so you can possibly do some shows doing that period with all the rides being free if you don't already right like that okay rail guy
I’ll see what I can do on my schedule
I'm from maryland
Got a Question. Tim how did you get from Newark to Perryville?
Amtrak most likely
My good old Nissan Sentra
MARC running diesels under electrie wires is dumb
Amtrak charges Marc an exorbitant amount to use the catenary. That’s why they run diesels.
