Coming from the Sherlock line of detective games, where you notably do not play as Holmes, I find the fact you do not play as Batman apropos. Batman is the worlds greatest detective, akin to Holmes, so we fallible plebeians shouldn't ever play as him for precisely the same reason the investigative classic from the 80s omitted that option.
By the rules no. But the secret goals each character has could be considered multiple objectives you need to complete. It probably could work, but since this is a game where you learn everything in a playthrough I never tried to replay the game that way.
Never played the first Detective. Now with my new phone I think I can play them. Looks cool.
