- Msumungo, A subscriber of mine suggested I check out the Ochanomizu area in Tokyo for a 7 Days 7 Minutes video. As it turns out it was a pretty epic place so I made a longer video.

I was in ochanomizu last year, i ended up purchasing the BC Rich Bich Pro X lol. I was tempted. The boss guitar and pedal shop was absolutely amazing!

+DarcNoodles Absolutely sir! I mean, if you have a decent job and a fair money in your wallet, you can buy EVERYTHING! Everything can go cheap!! (they often give you discounts lol!) I purchased my KHDK from 40,000¥ down to 30,000¥ because it was a golden week festival! It's really to travel. in Ochanomizu!!

How much you buy the bc rich bich pro x?
I was there last year & it was amazing. I live in NYC & there is nothing like this here. The closest thing in NYC was "Music Row" on West 48th street where you had Mannys, Rudys & Sam Ash. But every one of the shops has been forced to move or close all together. And even when Music Row was alive & kicking, it wasn't as jam packed with the volume of gear that you see in Tokyo. Overwhelming at times, but awesome.

I accidentally walked in a shop with violins and said" Fuck i'm in the wrong store." I said it in English so they dident understand me and i asked were the guitar shop was it was right next to the violin shop. but I did buy my Ibanez RG655 there it's my 3rd guitar my first was a Iron label then a RG450MB Candy Apple as my second.
It’s stories like this that make the Ochanomizu mission the fun it always is.
On which day did you go to Ochanomizu? A lot of the guitar shops I see on Google Street view are closed. I'll be going there in February and I want to check out the guitars they offer
Off the top of my head, I can't remember but methinks Wednesday or Thursday. Assume that monday or tuesday will be the day off as they probably do most of their business on the weekends. maybe avoid big public holidays to be safe.
Incidentally, let me know before you arrive if my schedule permits it we can grab a ramen.
***** Thank you. I'll only arrive on a thursday and will be there for jus under a week, and I'll be travelling with a friend so I've no idea what day I'll be visiting the area yet.
I'm not sure if they have off days because one of the shops (Guitar Planet) mentions on their website that they are open all week Monday to Friday and also on weekends, but yet in street view you can clearly see it was closed. Unless it happened to be a public holiday that day. Then again, it seems that one of the shops I saw through street view looked like they are just opening up, because you can see the staff preparing the guitars on the rack outside the shop. :P
street view could have gone through there early to minimize crowds I suppose.
***** I guess so, judging from the time of day it looks like it was either late in the afternoon or early in the morning, most likely the latter. ;)
Anyway may I ask roughly how many guitar shops are there in the area? Street view showed me no more than 8 or 9 of them and I was expecting more. :/ Also Im dying to pick up a Schecter Japan guitar there, in fact I saw some in your video. Is it common to find them around? Seems to be mostly Fender and Gibsons.
I didn't do a count to be honest but I-d say the 8-12 number sounds right. remember they are mostly 3/4 floors so they are 'bigger' than they appear.
As for Guitars... Apart from Alexi's ESPs I know nothing. There are cool guitars and not cool guitars, I don't really care so long as the axeman wielding them plays me some powerful music.

Most of everything you've shown can be obtained in America. However, I seen some Edwards in there, which are Japanese exclusive, which is pretty cool. But that's it.
Alfredd Penziworth Dude... half the equipment in Japan is unavailable in the US. Even ESP guitars has their JDM line. If you've never been, you have no idea... it's literally the mecca!

Ochanomizu and Shibuya are hands down the most overwhelming shops to surface the planet! Bonkers ..nice docu m8!
