Most of those custom guitars are amazing.. Real works of art.. A long time ago I had the opportunity to play a kh2 vintage.. They playability was awesome.. And light. Very well designed.
I custom ordered a bolt-on Horizon in the ‘90’s. Maple neck, ebony board, mahogany body with quilted maple cap in cherry sunburst. I still play it to this day, and everyone who plays it falls in love with it. ESP’s Custom Shop is no joke.
A friend of mine owns a 2013 ESP Horizon II "Standard Series",which are now discontinued and replaced with the E-II Series. The Korean LTD factory is World Musical Instruments. That´s the same factory that makes the PRS SE series, the more expensive Schecters (Schecter is owned by the owner of ESP), Dean Guitars and many other companies. Rob Chapman used to build his Chappman Guitars there also, before moving to Indonesia and he has several factory videos. The S.Koreans are almost as good as the Japanese,in building guitars.
@@greekfreak1980 I love my World Music guitars - they are well built and you can get them for very cheap on the used market - prices for new models have skyrocketed though.
I was dealing with ESP on business about 25 years ago in Japan where I supported importing their woods and components (e.g. Floyd rose bridges and pickups, etc.) so I was entering their factory almost everyday, and saw tons of young teen guitar geeks creating guitar they all looked just got out from ESP academy graduates, honestly speaking the work environment I saw during that era wasn't that good looked just a bit better than a little shanty but after 25 years of build experience and gaining positive reputation their factory turned way better than the one I saw, ESP are now played by world's top class musicians around the world. I personally am a Jackson guitar player (but only from the 80's and 90's era) and not much into ESP but I recognized the quality of the ESP Horizon when I played, I admit their superior quality and felt their strict management are producing the superior instruments consistently. Nice guitar brand.
I bet even a majority of employees at Ernie Ball, arguably one of the best American built companies, don’t actually play guitar or haven’t been to guitar craft school for two years. Those details are evident in ESP guitars. Any ESP standard or E-2 I’ve ever picked up has been pure perfection. Nobody does it like Japan.
Ernie Ball are definitely the best USA made guitars. I worked for a premier Music Man dealer. We also sold ESP standard (Japan) models and ESP custom shops. They were two highest quality brands we sold IMO.
I wish the US would be more like Japan when it comes to this sort of stuff. We used to put in the effort to make sure if it was American made it was the top of the line. Japan has shrewd business practices that can seem worse than the US corporations, but these guitar builders would never even think about trying to cut costs and end up with a lower quality guitar. ESP is a big name there but if they slip behind in quality (which they won't) you best believe there are more high-quality brands waiting to take their spot. Black Smoker, Atelier Z, Japan has loads of smaller domestic brands that take their guitar building just as seriously.
Sweet tour! I did not know that the guy who owns ESP also owns Schecter. My trans black EII Horizon has the most immaculate fretwork I have ever seen on anything non custom shop. The ebony fretboard is so highly polished I can see my reflection in it.
ESP is why i wanted to become a rockstar as a kid; namely, to het a sponsorship and these sweet guitars lol. One day, I'll get that sweet dream guitar. 27" scale, white with black or gold hardware, locking tuners, graphite nut, stainless steel frets, 7 strings. There are some E-ii m-ii's but even those miss some listed features you would expect for 3k bucks
@Lil' Rona I have owned Gibsons before fool. It's not just about the employees "seemingly" working hard. Like you can see in the vid they require their employees to go to school, and they have a small group of highly focused individuals building the guitars. Gibson on the other hand has a larger number of unskilled employees, a lot of them aren't even musicians, and they have lower level of expectations from employees, and worst of all they are unreasonably expensive. You know what Gibson does when a high profile artist requests a guitar? They hire an independent builder to make the guitar because they can't. Paul Reed Smith built Ted Nugent's guitars because Gibson couldn't. Esp will build you whatever you want, and they won't be hiring a ghost builder because they have the best luthiers.
@@Padlock_Steve so?? You're saying its better to be rude and inconsiderate when visiting another man's country and place of work? The man understood and spoke english. For all we know he was proud of his english and maybe wanted to show it off! But this fool kept on talking for him.
Joji's English is just fine. The presenter is obviously a fan and is excited and honored to be there. ESP probably has the greatest guitar custom shop for detail in the world. Thier staff structure and education is secocond to none, whether you like thier guitars or not. This was a good and true insight into a very tight knit factory process. @@johancoes6984 Was in the market for a modern Single cut with high output pickups, tried both E-II Eclipse and the LTD EC-1000 and ended up buying a Korean made LTD Eclipse (EC-1000 ASB with Seymour Duncan 59/JB) its a well made, pro level guitar for a lower price.
@@johancoes6984 I've got an eii eclipse and an ltd ps1000... I just wanted to agree with everything he said. It's the fit and finish that really make esp stand above their ltd counterparts.
Amazing craftsmanship and attention to detail. I've been playing esp/ltd guitars for over 20 years, for me nothing comes close
Japanese made guitars holy crap 🥰 perfection at its finest
They have been doing this for 35+ years so any Japanese guitar I have owned was built with Japanese pride and you can tell when a Japanese guitar is in the hands !
Thanks for the tour .I have a new found respect for these guitars after watching this video .I also do have the snakebite in black .Incredible guitar .Looks like a Clingon spaceship .
I have esp eclipse with the older lettering on the headstock and you can feel the attention to detail and care that was put into it. It's my favorite guitar I own.
Wow, Joji's English is absolutely incredible!!! I can't comprehend being that natural and skilled in conversing in a foreign language so completely different than my native tongue
3:11 is the best guitar I have ever played. Maybe it’s cuz they make it in left handed unlike many other models, but obviously it does metal, but it’s so versatile, it’s my favorite guitar I own.
Is it an explorer? How much was it? Where can I get one?
@@anotherbigfootwithinternet2147 it's the snakebyte. One of the James Hetfield signature models. They have a few different price tiers.
Most of those custom guitars are amazing.. Real works of art..
A long time ago I had the opportunity to play a kh2 vintage.. They playability was awesome.. And light. Very well designed.
I have a 2014 Custom Shop Eclipse. I knew it was a great guitar, but I had no idea it was made by a team of only 4 people.
I custom ordered a bolt-on Horizon in the ‘90’s. Maple neck, ebony board, mahogany body with quilted maple cap in cherry sunburst. I still play it to this day, and everyone who plays it falls in love with it. ESP’s Custom Shop is no joke.
The Japanese people take the time to pay special attention to the details. That always makes a difference, especially when building guitars.
mind blowing passion and quality control
When they picked up the blank snakebyte body I got so happy
Hell yeah! Me too
I love Japan and their guitars.
A friend of mine owns a 2013 ESP Horizon II "Standard Series",which are now discontinued and replaced with the E-II Series.
He has played the living shit out of that thing, had some accidents with it live (dropped it on stage etc.) and it still plays and sounds like new. These guitars are build like tanks and put many "boutique" guitars to shame, who cost twice the money, in terms of build quality, fretwork, durabillity and playabillity.
And their japanese custom shop models are even more high-end,these custom shop models are ridiculously well build with some insane figured tops and what not.
greekfreak1980 agree! I don’t really care about the e-ii logo, actually they are the same product righ?!
i am a lucky owner of a '07 Standard Series Eclipse 2 (EU Version) in a beautiful amber cherry sunburst. Although i don't really play guitar anymore i will probably keep it forever.
captain subtext oh man you ate lucky! that was beautiful guitar!
Bagus SW e-ii is not the same, no matter what they tell you. There are well documented pictures of e-ii bodies being made in China.
They may have their final assembly in Japan, but they are not fully made there.
Go full ESP made in Japan, screw the e-iI. I’m sorry but those are not real esps
@@Critastic Here's the thing: fully made in Japan ESP,at least over here in Europe is as rare as a pink unicorn. Most guitar shops don't even have the E-II models, hell Thomann (one of the biggest online music stores in the world) only has half a dozen E-II models. You only find LTD models.
Great video! I had Epiphone Korina Explorer and I sold it, the same with Fender Player Telecaster (I sold it after 2 years). After Epiphone I bought myself korean made ESP LTD V401-FM and I own it for 7 years and I will never sell it. I fell in love with ESP so much that I ordered ESP E-II Eclipse Blue Natural Fade (10:42 in video). I've been waiting for the past two months and I should receive it on December. Can't wait!
How is the ecplipse e-II ? You received it ?
@@pmarciano1717hey, yes I received it on beginning of January. Guitar is perfect, comfortable, not too heavy, not too light, perfectly balanced and looks beautiful. The thing with such guitars is that you are able to play on it without fatigue for 1-2h set. I had a huge problem that my previous guitars, Telecaster and LTD V that I mentioned above, were somehow uncomfortable for me. For example Telecaster was uncomfortable on a fretboard for me and LTD V is simply too heavy and makes my back hurt. The more you play on E-II the more comfortable it gets, at least for me. Great guitars with hi-end quality, I strongly recommend E-II. Now I’m preparing my budget for some Eclipse Original Series 😅
@@pmarciano1717 yes, great guitar. High quality, comfortable and reeeealy beautiful. Perfectly balanced, also not too heavy and not too light. If u want to buy some LTD Eclipse, save money and buy E-II instead. Huge difference between E-II Eclipse BNF and EC-1000. At least for me
that's cool, pretty cool, cool, cool, oh that's cool.....

I thought it was awesome that he said cool so many cool times.

Best factory tour video I have ever seen. Guitar videos are bittersweet right now because I had to sell my gear to pay rent during this pandemic
It almost felt like the interviewer was touring the employee. -_-
Impressive factory though!
Can’t wait for my new E-II arrow to arrive!
no wonder, they built such excellent guitars.
I work for ESP back in the late 80tis early 90 when there was ESP only in Tokyo, in Düsseldorf and in NewYork , for ESP Düsseldorf germany , best times ever.
11:15 I'm losing my mind! they look soo beautiful!
I actually had the ESP custom shop re-wire the bridge pickup for my '74 Greco RB. So grateful they were able to save that bass.
ESP is the Holy Grail of guitars!
It was quite an expansion when ESP decided to open up a building facility in Japan, especially when the E-II division came to birth.
The E-II Eclipse at 10:28 is next on my list. I need it. I just wish it came with passives. Time for another episode of pickup switcheroo boogaloo.
I've got one in a different finish... its honestly the nicest guitar I've ever played. The fit and finish on it is incredible. I hope you can get yours soon.
Tony, Ken and Tha Man George Lynch always rockin the ESP stuff! Great guys
ESP guitars are so bad ass! I got 2 LTD deluxe's and they play great! You guys should go to the LTD factory in Korea or the one in Indonesia.
@Wise Guy Edwards? By ESP?
I love my M-II, glad to be watching this walk through
The Japanese take their guitar building very seriously.
I have an Ibanez les Paul copy made in Japan, can safely say I agree with you
they have for decades
good job perry! that was an awesome tour! they've got some AMAZING guitars, i loved the skull fretboard one, so beautiful.
5:50 it's my dream to own this guitar
Sweet tour! I did not know that the guy who owns ESP also owns Schecter. My trans black EII Horizon has the most immaculate fretwork I have ever seen on anything non custom shop. The ebony fretboard is so highly polished I can see my reflection in it.
Now I have to buy an ESP
I wish I could afford an ESP. I have 3 LTDs, but not a true ESP. :(
3:21 the constant tritone in the background while they make these guitars is what makes them perfect for metal 🤘
I feel like I would get along with everyone in this room.
I think i saw Ohmura's ESP Guitar at around 11:58 🤓
Those Guitars are mind blowing!
I LOVE ESP GUITARS !!!!!!!!!!
Perry is in heaven. He's completely gone. LOL! His enthusiasm is incredibly cool. Great vid.
Gibson needs to watch this vid and take notes for real
bro
sometimes not nice to be so truthful..
.....but yeh, for real....
Gibson doesn’t have a clue
@Lil' Rona Don't need to when you know repairers who have fixed many of them.
Wow beautiful guitar s man wow. The craftsman ship excellent woods amazing finishes my regards to your company
If only Gibson were that serious and reliable.
Waiting for gibson fanboys to come say the mistakes are what gives it soul....

E-II HORIZON-III REINDEER BLUE to my collection and I love it! I really anjoy getting a peek into the factory it was crafted in.
So, is the ESP rep allowed to speak about the process, or merely acknowledge everything.
I think Perry was trying to help him out here as his English clearly wasn’t very good.
I've lived in Japan for a number of years now and, relatively speaking, Joji's ability to speak English is rather decent.
i found it really annoying! The man can understand and speak english. Very disrespectful.
I'd just be greatful this vid was made.
