    I have LARP in less than a month and I needed this video! I always forget how brutal summer LARP is untill I'm dying from dehydration from just watching the fights. thank you so much!
    (ps I see you as my unofficial LARP mother because of how much you have taught me)

      I'm always happy to be a LARP mum ☺️
      Take care of yourself in the sun and play 'When Did You Last Drink?" Ask your friends when they last had a drink. If they can't give you an answer in 3 seconds, they need to go drink water. Have fun!

      @@OurAdventuringParty I do have my own murder hobo to look after so I will definitely be making sure he and others drink enough. Please keep making larp videos they're super useful!

    I just went to my first summer larp, and it was brutal, 100°f heat index with over 60% humidity. I was wearing the thinnest gear I had and loose breathable fits, but it just didnt help even in the shade. Drinking a lot of water, and occasionally dousing myself helped a lot, but I think I really need to just get summer specific gear. Finding more specific larp clothes for men has been a struggle though. This video is a godsend though, thank you for putting it out!

    I"m going to ConQuest Mythodea next week in Germany. It's my very first larp. Your videos have been very educational!

    Thanks so much for these videos! I'd love a video on LARP vocabulary. I hear lots of acronyms in videos like these and most are baffling!

      Aw I'm sorry, I'm so used to using them I forget that it can just be a load of jargon. I will see if I can get a video together, but if I can't, I will try and make sure to show what acronyms mean better in future. ❤️ Thanks for the helpful feedback ☺️

    Thanks for your information-packed video :) 1. Drink water - so true! I had to regularly remind myself to stop running around and go into our castle venue to drink a cup. Because there's so much exciting things you don't want to miss out on... A good measure I think: in our castle venue there was a counter with a fridge which always contained pitchers of water and a row of new glasses. 2) layers (like an onion!). I actually got lucky because my character was a farm lad used to working outside in the heat and appropriately dressed. Our first day was really pretty hot. There were several players wearing multiple layers of clothes including black robes and jackets - suffering... 3. Yes, USE SUNSCREEN and pack your bug repellent :) Like, take your refreshing shower every morning and finish with putting your sunscreen on.

    I dont know if its just me or the video but the sound seems slightly off. Other then that an amazing video, ive been binge watching your videos ready for my first LARP this weekend. I'm going on my own but I have spoken to a few players already. Super excited but nervious.

      It's not just you, no idea how that's happened at all. But nevermind, I will make sure that doesn't happen in future videos, thanks for catching that.
      Hope you have a great time at your first event, where are you going? 🙂

    I have a larp coming up soon and they are predicting 38° so all good tips but the drinking thing is soooo important

      @@OurAdventuringParty yeah central europe heatwaves are getting scary. Actually just thinking about it, it occurs to me that i wont be able to take my rp leather water bottle cause its sealed with beeswax that will melt 🙃 i guess i will use a desguised plastic bottle instead

    • @OurAdventuringParty
      @OurAdventuringParty  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertmanson5922 Check what kind of plastic the bottle is, some when they get hot release toxins that can make you ill. If you aren't sure, then make sure what you cover it with blocks out the sun as much as possible. ❤️

    A half related larp question: when wearing those elf ears, do you use anything additional to keep them in place? I had some troubles with them and thought maybe using spirit gum would help

    • @OurAdventuringParty
      @OurAdventuringParty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Spirit gum works pretty well, though truthfully my hair is thick enough (at least on the non shaven side) that it holds stuff in place. But pretty much any SFX adhesive for skin should be fine. Just make sure you have the right materials to remove it after, because no promises that peeling it off will be comfortable.

    • @softie_vinyl
      @softie_vinyl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      prozaid is good as it's more versatile than spirit gum

    Also a run down on your last Larp - say you arrived at 10 on Saturday, you meet up with your healer friend and accompany them foraging for herbs, you barter in the local market and are called to battle for? I'm not actually sure how these things work, do you have a script?

    • @OurAdventuringParty
      @OurAdventuringParty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not exactly. The story is usually prewritten but the players are not aware of what is planned (maybe some details such as location and backstory but certainly not the plot). Then it's the players job to improvise through the story as their characters and see where it takes them. :)
