"Simply put a pilot can fly an A220 and then go to an A330neo..." No. The A220 does not share the cockpit commonality with the A320/321/330 aircraft, because A220 was designed by Bombardier as the Bombardier C-series.
This stood out for me as well, A220 is a different design and there is 0 commonality with the A320 series or any other airbus for that matter

@@jeremydee5424 The cockpit commonality between different airbus models allow for less training than a complete type rating when switching between A320 to A330 for example. You can take this "diference training" and learn only about the differences. It might be different weight limitations, speeds and performance differences. The same is true going from A330 to A350. You just do a "difference training" and you're good to go.
@@patrikohman4617 interesting…I appreciate the feedback…I was under the impression that the 350 is different in ways to have different training…at least that what I got from talking to my friend who works for the airline…but then i thought…why would airbus do something like that…they’d want to keep the similarities common/consistent as best they can.

The US FAA does not allow a common type rating on the A320 series and A330 series. There is a shorter training period--Cross Crew Qualification, but you cannot fly an A320 one leg and an A330 the next. I hold a type rating on the A320 and A330.
Delta doesn't currently operate the 737 MAX-8 as you kept stating. They have a large 737-800/-900 fleet, but no MAX series.

Boeing's failure to offer a replacement aircraft for the B757 and the B767 were a major mistep, they have lost a Generation of Aircraft sales and handed that business by default over to Airbus. I used to be a huge Boeing fan, but that ended with their handling of the Max Debacle. I have since flown on several Aibus types and have been pleasantly surprised that for the most part they are far superior to Boeing for less noise, and more comfort IMO. Boeing has yet to get thei Max 10, Max 7 and 777X even approved after how many years? I think they have lost their way.
Years ago there was a talk about the 797? I believe that model if it was to be produced, could have equal the status quo but Boeing allowed Airbus to flourished with A321 XLR and that new Airbus variant hits the sweet spot in capacity and range. The 777X when it eventually comes out will be 5-6 years late! In short Boeing has offered Airbus 5-6 years of raking up orders upon orders. Sir Tim Clark from Emirates said that they hope to get their massive 777X order to come only in 2025. If Airbus comes out with a larger twin engine wide body from their A350, then Emirates alone could just cancel all their 777X totally. I respect both manufacturers but clearly Boeing has lost the plot

They did replace the 757 and 767 dummy, 757 replaced with MAX-10 and 767 replaced with 777/787.
@thecomedypilot5894 a321 is more of a 757 replacement. Boeing chose to not to make one. Airbus & Boeing sometimes beat each other to the punch of a certain aircraft class. If they go to one they have to let the other go.

My husband is a pilot for delta and you can absolutely not fly a 220 and then fly a 320 neo and then go back to a 220. Requires more training and is not correct…

The reason A220 was not in the A320 family is because they have no commonality. It was developed by Bombardier, and they just had no choice but to partner up with Airbus due to the petition of Boeing on Delta's undervalued purchase of A220s.
Also, flight deck commonality doesn't just magically remove cost. Pilots would still need training for the different aircraft type. It just lessens the time needed thus saving operational cost.

Boeing used to be engineer-driven but is now Wall St cowboy-driven: the Boeing that partnered with Delta for so long is not the same company of today. So... time to kick Boeing to the kerb and let customers breathe easy again. I see Boeing are also having trouble getting their Starliner spacecraft right which is hardly surprising.

Delta was all Boeing (and MD) until they 'merged' with NWA.
Does Boing want to regain ground? Nope, that ship sailed a long time ago! At Boing HQ they have celebrated for far too long the success of the 747 and have forgotten to develop further for the future! Whilst Airbus has created ONE cockpit for several planes, reducing the cost of spare parts and making them universal, Boing was sitting in their HQ and slept out the hangover from celebrating the success of the 747! The result you are witnessing right now is Boing asking themselves, how the heck did that happen!? This analysis is just my personal opinion, but I think that's what has happened. Not exactly that way, but pretty close!
Don't forget the "merger" with McDonnell Douglas in 1997 which Boeing only survived in name, the then MDC CEO became head of the new outfit and the company's HQ was set up in Arlington, VA, a stone throw away from the Pentagon, signaling quite a big shift towards the military/space sector (clearly MDC's forte), away from civil aviation.
It's not as easy as that. Airbus cockpits might look similar, but the flight systems are different between the types. Parts are definitely not the same.
But I agree with the rest.
Boeing should have gone forward with the 797 project in the 90s to keep up with the A320 family. The continuous life stretch of the 737 is biting them back hard now. Instead of putting all efforts on the development of the 777x, they're still burning precious time making the Max variants pass certification. ...which they're having trouble doing, because it's still the same old analogue aircraft.
Is the cockpit arrangement on the A220 the same as on all of the other Airbus fleet? I mean it wasn't originally an Airbus aircraft, after all!
Minor adjustment: they’re mentioning the Boeing 737 max at delta being replaced by accident. They haven’t arrived yet. What’s intended is the 737-800. A much older version
Delta should replace their 757/767 fleet with an order of A321XLRs, A322s, and A330-800s. The A321XLR can replace the 757-200 and 767-300ER on thinner routes. The proposed A322 stretch can replace the 757-300 and then the A330-800 can replace the 767-400ER and fill in a gap in between the A330-900 and A321XLRs.
The 757 has no perfect replacement.

Its not that easy. You all seem to keep forgetting new EPA standards are coming into effect not too far down the road. This changes the whole ball game. This is where Boeing jumps back in the game trust me 😂

It's frustrating to watch videos from this channel, it's regurgitating information that we don't need and is extremely long winded in getting to the main point. Also, it's a mildly annoying to see them mention "A321neo" while seeing a 767-300ER on the screen, or when they says "Airbus", the video immediately snaps to a Boeing 757/767/777. If you're talking about the A220, the A330, please show relevant videos of the aircraft so people know which plane you're talking about. It just looks disjointed, like you don't even know what you're showing on screen. Eg. at 5:02 the video says "like the 737 Max 8" --> Proceeds to show an A330neo, come on.

Delta currently has NO MAX in the their fleet.. We fly 77 units of the B737-800 and 163 units of the B737-900.. The first MAX will not fly in Delta colors until 2025 the earliest..

As others have commented. Delta currently does not have any 737 MAX aircraft in their fleet. This was a plus during the MAX grounding because it didn’t effect Delta at all.

Delta doesn't even any Max 8 aircraft in their fleet...very recently an order was placed for Max aircraft, but earliest delivery isnt til 2025. This theory sorta makes sense if you're talking Delta replacing 737-800 aircraft (since they actually possess this aircraft), but I think Delta intends to replace the 737-800 with the Max 8 so as to not offend Boeing and keep their future options open.

Each Airbus Family has commonality, but pilot's type rating is limited per family; so A220 type rating only applies to the A220 family, A320, A330, A350, A380 is identical. You can fly within the same line, but not across.
There was a start to this - it was the merger with Northwest in 2008. At that point, Delta was pretty much 100% Boeing. With the merger, Delta acquired well over 100 Airbus A319, Airbus A320, and Airbus A330. With the merger, they started by canceling the Northwest order for the Boeing 787s. They accepted the going orders for Airbus however. Since then, they have expanded on this switch and never looked back. They did acquire unwanted 717s from Southwest (which acquired them from its Airtran merger and did not want them) but in the end, they really have not ordered much Boeing since 2008 (look at their records). This Max order is essentially their first order from Boeing in over a decade, back to the merger. Boeing is in trouble, plain and simple.
Boeing is not in trouble. Look at their stock price and plane deliveries. They’re making a comeback. And taking lots of orders.

Meanwhile SpaceX has launched nearly 100 tickets to the station, beating them to it by a number of years. With no accidents. They have had trouble making the 737 Max since the crash. They have had to pull the 787 die to a manufacturing problem. They delayed the launch of the stretched 777 because of problems. They have not had anything go right in the last two years except finally being able to sell again the 737! Max. Sure their stick price is up and if you are brave you should buy their stock. I am not.

Delta would be wise to replace its aging A330s they use trans-Atlantic. I personally won't be getting on another Delta flight to the EU until they offer a better and more comfortable aircraft, a A350 or B787. As soon as my Skymiles are used up I will be switching to United or Air France.

nice video apart from the part that any max8 is to be replaced by a321neos.. there are only older 737-700s and -800s as well as 757s in use that will have to be phased out. keeping the 737 (as max10) also makes sense to me since delta would have to wait forever for an all airbus fleet of this amount of airplanes and it keeps their domestic route planning really flexible. as delta has ordered no dreamliner and the 777X is still taking time there are for sure further 330neos and 350s coming in..
Delta does not operate the max 8. It is probable that the 737 NG -800/900er however will be replaced or eventually phased out by the a321neo.
Delta will be keeping the 757 until 2030 at most, as well as the 717. The 767 was supposed to be retired this year but it seems those plans changed.
The author mistook Delta’s 737NG fleet for the Max order. Delta ordered 100 737-10s and they have yet to order the A321XLR. The A321NEO will do the job for domestic flight and maybe flights to Hawaii and Western Europe. Within limits the 737-10 can also go to Hawaii, locations in Northern South America and Western Europe.
Right now the XLR is having weight and range problems. This may lead some XLR customers to look at the A330-800 to accommodate some medium to long haul routes.

The commonality is more about the flight systems. Even if the buttons are not exactly in the same place, the pilots know procedures and what to look for.
That said, I don't think they can do many jump around. The specs change dramatically across the fleet. Size, weight, capacity, operational speeds, flight altitude, fuel consumption, etc. etc. etc. Maybe they can jump easily within the A320 family or between the A330s and A350s ...and maybe the A380. But each still has its own things.

In the first 25 seconds, there is a lie. In 2022, Delta ordered 100 737max-10's with an option for 30 more. Also, Delta is far less of a long haul international carrier than American or United; Delta has a much smaller component of twin aisle planes than either of the other two. Since most of their international business is to Europe from ATL and DTW and Asia via Seattle, they are not dominant in the long haul arena. Otherwise, I would expect to see 787's in their fleet.

Airbus cannot make enough Aircraft. Rolls Royce cannot make engines to take up P&W problems. When Airbus says it has a problem its a tiny chink in a massively overdesigned part.
By the time Boeing says we have a problem hundreds are all ready dead.
Alaska is reverting to an all Boeing fleet & will return the A320neo series to the lessors once they pay the penalty charges. It has nothing to do with the quality of Airbus aircraft, more a question of efficiency savings.

Although I am a Boeing shareholder, I think Boeing has inferior product line up with significant quality issues. It needs to get rid of MD management inherited from its merger and focus on product and engineering, rather than fat management payout and government lobby.

I’m sorry but I despise stupidity, so I’m not letting you get away with ridiculous statements. At 5:24 into this video you say that Delta has “ 237 Max 8s in service.“ That’s absolutely false. According to Delta‘s website (and I should know, even without looking at the Delta website, because I’m well over a 1 million butt in seat miler and eternally high elite on Delta) Delta doesn’t have a single 737 Max in service. Unfortunately, unless they get rid of them, we’re going to be stuck with the 100 that they ordered and we have to put up with the 737s they already use. But Delta does not currently fly any 737 Max airplanes.
