  • There have been big life events that started my minimalist living life over 4 years ago. I want to share why minimalism made sense for me, what being a minimalist mom means for me and hopefully give some ideas on minimalism for beginners.

I lost my Dad 4 months ago to years of alcoholism. I am 37, i moved across the country 10 months ago to live closer to my dad and brother, left all my best friends, and I had my first child 9 months ago. I am GOING THROUGH IT right now. I have been watching your videos all day because I feel like decluttering and minimizing the material stuff in my life will truly help my mental state. There are thousands of minimalism videos on TH-cam but I think I was meant to find your videos to hear your story about your dad. I have been ashamed to share his cause of death with people. Thank you for being so open sharing your story.

I absolutely love your videos!!! I’ve been looking for a channel just like this! The big minimalism lightbulb for me went off a couple of years ago. I live in southeast Georgia and when hurricane Matthew came we had to evacuate. I loaded up my kids, there favorite toys which was some stuffed animals, I packed our pictures and important documents, clothes for two weeks and that was it. My husband had to stay behind to work. We left town and I remember driving away thinking this is all that really matters, what’s in the van right here is the only things we actually absolutely love. Everything else was just material things filling up space. I knew then that by cutting back we would spend less time cleaning the things just filling up space and more time being together and doing things that really mattered.

First of all, thank you so much. I have been working at consistency with my videos and trying to do ones that will benefit others. And...Wow!! What a huge impact! It's crazy how those big life events can really teach us so much. More and more I think I could easily walk out of my house with my family (and maybe my frog lamp that was my late grandma's haha) and be totally fine.

Thanks for sharing your experiences it can be hard to open up about those things, I went through a lot as a kid and teen that actually had the opposite effect and caused me to feel like I needed to keep everything I'm not battling an excessive amount of stuff and am on my own minimalist journey

It's crazy how everyone deals with things differently. I definitely hung on to things for years and years terrified to let go. But I really feel like all of these things steered me to where I am now.
