Great vid @guitarjosii ... I have used my 22 a lot in the studio... it records amazingly well... and covers a surprising amount of ground. It does get pretty wild with the Master cranked right up and the Pre Volumes notched back a bit....definitely has more lower mids. going on than your 2203 to these ears as well.
thank you! Yeah, I have to say... both amps aren't very loud here in this clip so a pushed power amp would have changed a lot with both of these amps, I guess 🙂
I own a Sheriff 44. It's a great amp, but in real life there are some subtle differences with a real Marshall. I think the marshall has a sort of "glassy" treble than there isn't on the Sheriff, and in the end it's a little bit more "straight to the face" amp (not sure in English this has sense... sorry). The sheriff sounds "ready for recording", while the marshall is a little bit wilder.
Yup, I would totally agree with everything you said. The Marshall sounds wild, it sounds raw, it sounds imperfect but this is the beauty about it. The Victory sounds a bit more "shaped", a bit more polished and refined. More 'round'?! And of course: it sounds smaller because of the smaller poweramp section. The Marshall is an absolute beast but considering the size, weight and price of the Victory, this might be a good alternative. 🙂
Yeah, at the end of the day, the Victory is a compromise but it sounds pretty good for it's size and weight. The Marshall will break your back but it sounds unbelieveable.
I have tried, to match the EQ by ear. The Victory would have had some more reserves regarding treble und presence. But yeah, the Victory overall seems to sound a bit more rounded and not as raw, as the Marshall. 🙂
it's just because of the bigger transformers as it's a 50 watt amp vs a 20 watt amp. Other than that it's similar and the Victory has a bit more gain from what I can hear. The low end of a 20 watt amp can't be the same as a 50 though, nothing to do with the brand
The original tranny's in the 70's Marshall's (and the silver jubilee) have no comparison when using G12M with paper voice coils Guess everyone tries to invent something close There is no substitute, when you find the right drivers the original is King!
Why buy cotton when you can have silk? Especially when the cotton is more expensive than the silk. Great playing buy the way. Whats the riff from 1.00? Its driving me mad lol
wow! Very close, can´t belive it!! 👏👏

What is the name of the finish on that Les Paul ?
I think this is called Dirty Lemon V.O.S.
I had the sheriff 44 and was a superamp. I think the 22 too. But the real thing (JMP) its not easy to beat.😎

Are the gain levels same?
I have tried to match them by ear
you're comparing a 20 watt with a 50 watt amp, right?
The Marshall is a 100w 🙂
the victory sounds like a marshall with the treble and presence on zero... too dark for a true marshall tone

Nice riffage. Both sound good.Marshall a bit thicker, growl-ier.
Thanks! And yeah, that's what I was thinkin' 🙂

Because the JMP is a pain to travel with 😅
The riff at 1:00 was just some improvisation
Marshall less tight, and edgy.
