  • Every day at noon for the past 50 years, the Heritage Horns have blasted out the first four notes of 'O Canada'. CBC Music's Grant Lawrence gets up close and personal at their current home: the roof of the Pan Pacific Hotel.

    Vancouver has the Gastown Steam Clock, the 9 O' Clock Gun, and the Heritage Horns, they really love their unusual timepieces

      I recently saw the 9 o’clock gun when I took a walk in Stanley Park.

    Sometimes in the 90’s I would hear them close to the northern section of Alma depending on the weather since they were pointing the other direction.

    For decades atop the Old BC hydro building (now "The Electra") i wasn't even aware that they had been moved until a couple of years ago

    Swanson also did the Pacific Great Eastern railway horns (BCRail)and BC FERRIES V class ferries

    I was in North Vancouver when they went off. They didn't actually sound that loud

    Their more 150 dB loud and it can be heard on the near by Rocky Mountain tops and beyond.

      I think you mean the Coast Mountains? The Rocky Mountains are about a 10 hour drive from this horn. :)

    You can hear them Faceing Downtown in Stanley park I Had the Fun Experience in person and even sang O Canada to them. They are Blaring loud

    if you have ever heard the WSF Spokane horn, wou will find that they sound very similer, also, the eagle would have been a great thumbnail for this video

      Only the low notes sound like Spokane. But the rest sound more like B.C.F coastal’s.
