This Was JUST Awesome ~Had the pleasure of meeting both Ray Price and Buddy Emmons while i was palying way back when in Portland Or ~Glad to call them both freinds and great people ~Steve
MASTER STEELMAN BUDDY EMMONS....I saw him when he first joined E.T.s band....about 19 years old....and Ernest walked up behind Buddy and twisted his ear pretty good after telling story of Buddy holding up the bus after meeting a girl at their last gig...this was at Hodgenvlle, Kentucky
It was once said of the greatest racing cyclist of all time Eddy Merckx " If Merckx did not exist great cyclists would be discovered" . The same could be said of Buddy Emmons and pedal steel players.
I recall vividly when he cut this track. He was showin' the youngsters what a great country up-tempo performance by olde doc was all about. The 'A' team present and accounted for here.
I love the big "E" Would someone please post "Mansion on the hill", by Buddy. not the live version, also any Christmas songs. I lost about 60 Buddy Emmons songs, when my pc crashed and i did not have them backed up. Thanks, and may the big "E" live forever. please.
This song is the perfect vessle for "Showboat" Emmons to show his worth. Its all technique and no soul, but that is what Buddy Emmons liked to do, no soul so show off.
"No soul"...ridiculous. Technique, improvisation, and tons of caring, joy and soul. If you want no soul just pull up that homogenous drone of Nashville Pop. It it soulless and generic. Nashville Pop relies on auto-tune and computer enhancement. In live performance none of it comes near the talent and quality of Price, Emmons, and these musicians. Oh, the other name for Nashville pop is "New Country".
What a band. Buddy Emmons was the best pedal steel player ever, and there's no second place.
Buddy Spicher is also one of the best....
great music love it.

Price always surrounded himself with top musicians.

Del Rio Texas, the gold buckle of the Bible Belt.
Darrell McCall does a great walking bass line on that one.

These are always the comments you get from jealous people that probably don't know how to play.
