Tuneless can’t stand this style of steel playing.

The riff at the end is just ethereal. Oh, to have been there that night! At least we have this wonderful video. Thanks for posting.

This stuff is so scary, it makes me want to throw my picks in the trash, well almost. I think the Big E almost outdid himself on this session. I can't believe in all my years, I never heard or watched his Japanese stuff. What a band, what a steel player, what a joy to watch this stuff. Marc Trainor.

Buddy using a local Japanese steel. Good to see even Buddy misses the odd note, just like us mere mortals.

Many Japanese artists have done American Country. From bluegrass to honky tonk, etc. Even though this was 1982 it is on the web. Some young player there is probably trying to perfect Big E's playing style right now. Do not be surprised to hear one in near future.

A lot of Japanese artists/musicians have kept alive the heritage of various forms of great American music that our last few generations here have unfortunately decided to abandon. I so very much appreciate the love for this music and all the work and love all these Japanese folks have put into it themselves over the years. Much love and respect, mates!

Not Japanese, but Jack Philips out of Texas. I am exited to see where he goes. On the style side of Dickey O his step grandson Caleb has his style also can’t wait to see where music will take him.

@@gracie101ize will be checking y.t. One current session steeler guy now is Mike Johnson, (Not The Politician!!). He's similar to Big E.
Hope more youg folks take up that challenge. Someone once said pedal steel is like learning pipe organ and 3 stick back hoe operation at the same time.

C6 always has that Texas swing sound. Besides that E liked jazz hooks. Just listen to "Night Life". Put one in the intro.

Funniest story about him is he was on a flight and this kid kept running up and down the isle and hitting his seat each time. About the tenth time he did he grabbed the kid by his wrist, took him to his mother and told her “madam if you don’t control you child I’m gonna fuk him!” Best ever!

one of the most difficult things to begin to play the steel guitar is the entonation, and playing jazz riffs, Buddy was one of the greatest players.
