I live in the suburbs of Las Vegas and spend a lot of time hiking the Mojave. Love this extra survival knowledge. Thank you for making this. Much appreciated
This man is such an inspiration. I have nothing but respect for you my friend, returning and refining primal concepts that many of us have abandoned but which are essential to properly understanding our purpose and place in this beautiful and terrifying world, and sharing and inspiring many others to persue a more rustic exsistence in order to bring balance to our modern mode of living. Keep it up, and stay awesome
It is worthwhile reminding people that your total control of environmental comfort is not historically normal. It is hot then you will feel, umm hot...sheesh.. walk/exercise some distance every day...
Just because there is water in one section doesn't mean that there will be water up in the mountains. Fill up and drink up when you can find safe water. Best place for water is in your belly. I would also suggest while collecting dry grasses and such to watch out for snakes and scorpians. I tend to hit the area with my walking stick or even use the hardened end to bring the dry stuff closer to me, rather than reaching in to grab it.
Good tips! And yes, that is true about the water and I did fill up in case I wouldn't find more later but sure enough there was plenty more up the canyon and also the other canyon.
yea also like those other ones where they "make" massive pools and underground shelter and bunkers and shit and they upload 365 day survival even though it was only 1 month between uploads
Remember that this is a survival video. One thing he forgot to mention is that you must know a little about different plants and their good or bad element fo survival. He has been doing this for years. Please dont think cause you watch a few of videos that you can just go to the desert and be alright. Start small and learn as much as you can about the desert you are entering. Some plants are protected by laws.
Your videos are very personally inspiring to me. I've had multiple dreams of living out in the CA desert wilderness off of the plant species there for a time while moving south down through Mexico to South America on foot. It's a re occurring dream theme I've had since I was like 14 years old. Im wearing a deerskin loincloth in them too. In these dreams the cities become so corrupted and militant that it's a refuge, and I'm often running from people up into the mountains to hide like in the palm springs and yucca valley area particularly. I was born and grew up in 29 Palms CA running and exploring the mountains alone and with friends where the national park meets those mountains made of granite boulders. There was always this still wonder that never left me of how many creatures survive out there and come out at night or after the rains. Your videos have inspired me to realize desert survival is not only possible but in certain areas one could thrive if you can locate groundwater. I had no clue how many species of plants are edible there growing up. Here's a random but relavent thought. In the hot summers it's not too hard to catch the large herbivore desert iguana with a little homemade nuice on the end of a stick. I'd catch about 20 or so large adults in an hour or two with ease. I made them a water slide when I was a kid and kept them as pets for the day be ayse they're friendly lizards, but they could be a great food source during the dry season since they're populations are so numerous. The adults have large meaty foot long tails that regenerate so one could somewhat mercifully collect meat from them. Sometimes the tails are like an inch thick too, and the scales and skin are thin.

It's rare to see a survivalist series in my backyard! The desert is a brutal place and I lived in it more than half my life and I STILL learn stuff about it from guys like you. One thing I know about water out here is that if there are bees and wasps swarming it it's bad water. Jealous of that nice year round spring you found by the way haha
Stagnant water has got all sorts of bacteria and all kinds of green stuff and other nasty things in it that you don't want to be drinking so it's bad water. Polio from bad water killed people all the time way back in the day
That's awesome! So you are familiar with this landscape. Once I drank from a spring where there were bees around but I didn't get sick. I will be back later in the year to see if there is still water in there.
You're braver with water than I am that's for sure! Once in a while you can find old cattle wells out here that make for a decent basecamp site. Lots of good useful trees around the well and a good spot for hunting small game if need be. I learned not to set up camp to close to the well or you could end up with some nasty visitors at night on account that it's the only water source for miles
I used to live in west Texas, NM, AZ and SoCal. Used to walk around all the time with sandals and a kilt. Sometimes even barefoot. When your more exposed you pay more attention to your surroundings.
