Never understood the hate for this song, comments saying it "doesn't sound like Kiss" etc. This song was the basis for I was made for loving you and the rest of dynasty. Despite Vini Poncia not letting Pete play on the rest of the record, he obviously liked this tune enough to work the album around it.
In my opinion, Dynasty was Their Best sounding album. I love the balance of the instruments. It's a Salisbury steak/mashed potatoes & nutty buddy ice cream meal for the ears.😋
My dad took me n a bud 1979 cleveland coliseum now even the coliseum is gone lots of 1982 class that I was at concert are passed. Ace turned me into a rock soldier later. Now I'm studying hebrew. Still play a little my granddaughter comming over to learn fractured quantum when we get good make a utube video 😊
PETER CRISS was my favorite KISS member back in 1974-79 mostly because of my also being a drummer and the whole Cat thing with me being a Cat lover. Also liked ACE a lot even though i did not play guitar i just thought he was cool. Never liked PAUL STANLEY or GENE SIMMONS but would defend them back in the day if a anti KISS person would talk shit! 😁It is really strange all these years later finding out who PETE and ACE really were/are because during 1974-79 you did not really get any personal info on these guys. There was such a mystery to KISS back then that unless you lived through it you would not understand it 100%. These guys back then were really "larger than life" and nothing like other bands. These video's are incredible insights to the band and it's members. I watched a few of them a couple times! Learned a lot i never knew back then.
Anton Fig played drums on every single Dynasty track bar this. My favourite song from the whole album. Rumour has it Paul Stanley played bass. Anybody confirm? Another fantastic post from my favourite TH-cam channel. This man needs a Netflix or Amazon Prime platform to show off his talents. Bloody brilliant.
Peter- So many possibilities... Car crashes, "The Spoiler", shooting up Christmas trees included. Thankfully he still has some live (1 life?) left. This promises to be another GREAT one!
We had a banner here in Melbourne Australia after he left that said No Criss No KISS Rock On Peter Criss Of course I went and saw the unmasked show and loved it . But loved peters voice
It was exactly like that! Saw this tour, Aug. 31st, 1979, 9pm! Providence Civic Centre, Providence Rhose Island. I was 13, big sis was there (16). Mum got us the tickets (I had been a KISS fan for 3+ years). Mum drove us down to Providence, from Mass. Waiting outside with not much to do, a cop let Mum & my little sister (9) into the foyer. Once inside, an usher let them into the main hall, and they saw the 2nd hour of the 2 hour show! (Mum was later quoted as saying "There was One, wearing a Terrific 'Vee'...!"). Little Sister spent the 1980s at rock/metal shows with bragging rights that she had seen KISS with their original line-up, WITH make-up, full (Dynasty) stage show. So did I.
1:04 That's the outfit Peter wore in 'phantom'. (I bought 3 copies of the official 'KISS meet the Phantom' glossy mag: 1 I've 'kept'. 2 to cut up and hang each side of the pages on my bedroom walls. SO many great photos.) I was a pre-teen/teenage Fanatic KISS outfit expert! That 'phantom' outfit was being worn by a woman (Lydia? Debbie?). I freaked out, recognizing the clothes (this is decades before cosplay got serious or widespread). The 'Love Gun' tunic & belts, the white/silver/black striped vest/waistcoat, the furry boots and arm-bands. (We were originally seated, but we went 'down the front' early in the show, as lots of people did. So this was 'down the front' in the center aisle. I indicated the Criss-outfitted lady to my older sister "look!", but she indicated back to me the bombastic band/stage/show: 'Look at this/the show!'.).
Long time KISS fan since 1974 here and i have to say that for me dynasty was a real change for the worse( in my opinion) and i was just about done with KISS after hearing and seeing them live that year(FWIW i am not convinced that was Pete drumming that show?) and when "Unmasked" came out that was it for me! That was the last straw for me! Turned out PETE left anyway and ACE was about ready to split so i have no regrets on my decision back then.
Yeah man, ...I got on board in 1974, I was 14..for me, as much as I love Destroyer, they became a different band after that ..they were catering to little kids with all the painted album covers...there was no more Black Diamond ..no more Got To Choose...no more Strange Ways...no more She..I understand, they went for the money...but for me they forever changed after Destroyer...and I agree I was so disappointed with Dynasty ...and Unmasked was horrible...plus music was changing, so yep, I was done until the Reunion..and that really was exciting..anyway, my 2 cents worth
@@flynbil Well he was getting out of hand and seemingly wasn't consistent with his timing anymore and Gene and Paul weren't happy but both Peter and Ace had been trying to step away since before the solo albums. So a bit of both in some ways.
Good track. Dynasty was a late bloomer. Not a bad album. Ace Frehley and Peter shined brightly and I think that's why Gene and Paul speak so negatively about it
73-75 was his prime.. drum track on this is so basic compared to anything else on dynasty or unmasked which was of course Anton. Killer song though and a rippin guitar solo.
Its supremely asshole-y that people complain about Peter's live performances, but you go back and listen to bootlegs and all the mistakes come from mostly Ace and Gene 🤔
@@skullycockasaurus To be honest while "dirty livin" is definitely not a KISS tune and should not have been on any of their records i still do not hate it. Reminds me of something you would hear in a movie during a action scene or something?
Dirty livin' is the best song on the album!!! It kicks iwmfly in the balls and don't even get me started on Gene's 2 shit songs!!!! "Save your love" sucks!, 2000 man is a decent cover and "Hard times"? "Now I'm on the right track" 🤣 🤣. The only other good songs on this album are "Sure Know Something" and "Magic touch".
Dynasty is a killer album, shame I was made for loving you became such a hit & tarnished the albums reputation. 1 song & its labelled as a disco album & its far from it imo
Underrated track.

Peter .....proved that he should have played on all of dynasty w/ this track!
Agreed 👍
I agree. But they were apparently just so sick of him and his bullshit
He had the best voice out of all of them … and of course Ace

Ace apparently played bass but Peter's not the most reliable source because he may not remember for sure.
@@GetBenched2010 Thank you! Enjoy your evening and cheers from Hampshire in England
Great job dude, Ace's wiggle is the best.

I lasted until Lick it Up.
I came back with Creatures.
Peter Criss only sang and played on this song on the album. I do love the song though myself.

I like this song. You can hear the lyrics relate to Peter wanting to set himself free from the band which happened shortly after.
I think the band set him free without his input

Peter should have been the lead singer of his own band. One that did stuff like this instead of the crap he did for his solo albums
Just cool.
🤠 This is RAD.
This song proved autobiographical.
Peter was the coolest member of KISS...
A coincidence that the Catman himself Peter Criss gave us a new vocal version of Drity Livin' the same day? Curious coincidence...
Yes, I know ;)
Needs more Ace.

The Dynasty look doesn't fit the sound of half this album.
Worst song on the album, but this video makes it enjoyable for me. Great job!!
For me it is "Charisma" ! god i hate that tune! 🤮 "What is mymymymy Charisama a' a' a'"🤮🤣

Not a Kiss song. Although still a member, Peter was gone by this point, and this song, much like his solo album, shows he had no place in this band.
Best song on the album
