I did kind of the opposite of what you did and invested points into a tank focus. Guard Stance, Auto Mate, Iron Will, Warcry with their variations maxed out or close to max. I had to AFK mid boss fight to get my takeout delivery and didn't come close to dying.
Small note about Hunter PAs. Sonic Arrow is a lot wider than the effect makes it seem and is a PA with one of if not the highest Sword Focus generation, which is handy for getting your PAs as strong as they can be as quickly as possible. All of Hunter's PAs can also be cancelled into Guard if your about to eat a hit.
Do you know about the class trainers that give you 14 more skill tree points? I feel like not alot of people know about them. 28 points for both main and sub classes is alot to miss out on.
@@GingerPrimeGaming The NPC's around the central gate area near the skill tree NPC are all the different class trainers. You need to talk to them in order for their quests to show up. The game really needs to tell you about this but does not. One quest will tell you to kill the forest and desert bosses on at least hard to get 5 skill points, then they will give you another quest to kill the tundra, underground shafts, and floating continent bosses on at least very hard for another 5 skill points. For the last 4 skill points you have to keep leveling after 75 and get your class EX cubes and then turn in those to your class trainer. The hunter class trainer is Oza, hope this helps :)
Here's a small tweak you can do to your skill tree: >Lvl5 Perfect Fury Bonus is the optimal place to leave it at. >You can skip Automate and Critical Fury for Lvl10 Iron will + Lvl1 Stalwart Spirit for 10 seconds of Invincibility and +200 MEL Power for 60 seconds(8 Seconds of invincibility if you only choose to keep Critical Fury and have Iron Will at Lvl5). >You can leave Critical Fury if you plan on playing Fighter. >If you've gotten the extra SP from the class trainers you can max out Iron Will and have lvl5 Critical Fury
Fighter is always a solid sub choice for Hunter. As far as weapon choice It really depends on your play style - I personally don't care for wired lances and would rather use swords or Partisans depending on the situation.
Wired Lance has got to be my favorite melee weapon next to gunslashes, I just wish they had some better looking camo for them because the all look rather bad

Not really. Everyone does damage. And any class that can use Techniques (Spells) can provide moderate support. Techter is the "best" support class in terms of buffs, but it also does damage on part with every other class. Hunter and Gunner have abilities that can draw in enemies, but only Hunter can "Soft Tank" There are a few future classes coming out, but they don't change up the status quo in terms of there not being a Trinity.

IMPORTANT! Do NOT use "Recommended", just look up a guide like from Blac to Basics or the PSO2 discord server that his all up to date guides on the skills that you should take from people who main the jobs and can tell you exactly what's good and what's terrible to take. Use custom and just follow what they tell you, you don't even have to think about it much at all, just follow what they advise. For example, you'll never want to take any of the stat ups as they are pretty garbage compared to the investment in further tree bonuses like fury and guard stance bonuses that are just flat out a better investment of skill points. It's a huge newbie trap that will cost you literal actual money to fix, just look up a guide for your class and you're good to go, the PSO2 discord has all of them, and people to help you with every single class that you could possibly ever want to know about. discord.gg/mD8nfC that's the link to it. I want to add that the first 10 points are extremely easy to get because you only need to do 2 small quests.

Was kind of looking for something in terms of what to look for with gear. Is it mostly an aesthetic choice? I've been grabbing Mel Def for right now

I feel like you could make a decent tank if you tried. That’s for sure.
It's refreshing that you can build classes this way and there is no trinity to speak of, but you can have healers, tanks, support, dps, etc.

Forces best current build is using only 2 lightning moves. Gizonde and nazonde. Those 2 techs are extremely strong against everything currently.

I screwed up my Braver skill tree, so I'm trying out Hunter now. Not spending a damn penny on this game, not even to fix a major screwup.
They just handed out a free skill tree reset so be sure to check and make sure you got that reset
