As a veteran player, I watched this to see what it entailed. I checked the comments and noticed quite a few people pointing out misinformation, and I've noticed as much, as well. I like that people are doing guides like this, and I certainly am glad to see new players eager for this game. I'm not calling your efforts here wasted by making this comment, but I'd like to cover some things I think could use a little better explanation. Still though, nice video. And to anyone reading, I hope you enjoy PSO2. And I will add, English isn't my first language, so this may sound odd. 1). Your race does affect the stats you have going in, and affects growth, though it isn't quite so much a Gender basis, nor does it mean it's a massive deal for selecting your class. I saw someone point out it could be seen that way if you were hoping for the highest possible stats for your class, but that's assuming you're going to play one class, and one class only, not even accounting for your Mag or Sub-class. My recommendation is focusing more on a long term plan. For instance, deciding what class you think you'll play most, what weapon type you'd want to use more often, and finding your play style. This is heavily dependent on your Mag and skill tree builds. Alot of people will and have said it, but you only get one Mag. It's highly imperative you build it around how you'd like to play, or to supplement the stats for the weapons you want to use. 2). Your stats, S-ATK, R-ATK, T-ATK, and Dex play into what weapons you can equip. That's something a new player should note. While every class has specific weapons you can equip, you may not being able to equip certain weapons even at the highest level. Mags get you closer or help you to achieve the required stats for high requirement weapons. Tis important to understand how to build a Mag in relation to long term gameplay. 3). The starting classes have a sort of inherent difficulty along with them. For instance, it usually looks something like this: Hunter: Easy Fighter: Intermediate Force: Advanced Techer: Advanced Ranger: Easy Gunner: Advanced Braver: Intermediate Summoner: Advanced Bouncer: Intermediate This simply means the difficulty a new player might have when starting as said classes. For instance, Photon Arts, or PAs, and Techniques can be obtained in many ways, but still have that fact that they must be obtained. For a Hunter, this isn't such a big deal. You can still utilize your weapons in basic ways until you find the discs required. And you start with a few basic PAs, to boot. For a Techer or Force, you are very limited on starting Techniques. This means your offensive, defensive, and utility, such as healing yourself or allies, isn't immediately present. To some, this provides frustration and concern while playing, so keep that in mind when going in. Summoner especially should probably be saved until later. Tis a fine class, very fun, and very powerful when properly built pets are in play, but it takes alot of resources building that power. Still, play what you like. PSO2 is all about the freedom and joy of playing what you want and being who you want. Simply keep these things in mind. 4). The advanced classes are each unique in their gameplay, combat execution, and almost every player plays the classes differently from one another. But I wanted to cover them a bit better. First off, they are unlocked after speaking with an NPC named Kofi after reaching Lvl. 75 with two classes. Second, they cannot take on sub-classes, though Phantom can be used as a Sub-class. Hero and Phantom can use Techniques, but Etoile cannot. Keep in mind, they may not be as powerful with Hero or Phantom even at Lvl.90 as someone who is a Lvl.90 Force or Techer. (Barring equipped weapon, max level classes, and other things to that effect). Lastly, they are locked to their PAs. For example, if you are a Phantom who was previously a Braver, you won't be able to use your Braver PAs with your Katana, as they are for a different class. This might seem like common sense, but I have met many who thought Advanced classes are "Upgrades" to the normal variety. 4). Gunslash is a weapon type that is Universal. All classes can equip and use it, and it has Melee and Ranged functionality. If you are trying out other classes and need to level them before being able to equip a higher rarity weapon you may have held onto for it, these can be good options to carry you through beginning stages. 5). Play the game at your own pace. Solo or with friends, hardcore or casual, the magic of PSO2 is experiencing it. That's the end of my rant. Once again, nice video, but I just thought to add this here. I play on Ship 10 in the Japanese version, and I try teaching new players, so if you are reading this and have any questions, feel free to ask me. If you read this far, thank you for giving this a shot. Enjoy your time in PSO2.
@Polyistic Doing Client Orders or running Buster Quests are easy ways to get exp. Using Bonus Keys and running featured missions are other good ways to level up. However, keep in mind, there are Level caps. If you find yourself seeing EXP Full, then you need to talk to Kofi and take her CO to break that cap.
@Polyistic Currently, the best English guide that comes to mind is the one you can find at Bumped. It's a PSO2 fan blog. Other than that, I'll explain those mission types for you. Bonus Missions: These are accessed with Bonus keys obtained from logging in or from the gift received at the end of a Featured mission if you got an A or higher. There are two varieties. Silver and Gold. These determine the length of the mission and the enemies present, as well as the reward. If you're playing a non-translated version, you can find these under a category with six missions. There will always be six, as of now. Featured missions: These are missions that rotate on a daily basis, except for the fourth in the category, which is weekly. They have exp bonuses and sometimes item drop bonuses. Once upon completion of each mission with an A rating or higher, you'll receive a present box that has a chance of giving crafting, support, or healing items, as well as materials, badges, and Bonus Keys. The category with always denote having four missions unless there is a campaign or special event that changes this. Buster Quests: These can be unlocked by clearing Episode 5, Chapter 0. You may need to talk to Kofi to have them released after meeting the requirements. These give Buster medals, and generally have higher exp amounts awarded. They are defensive missions that involve defending towers from waves of enemies and various detrimental circumstances, while preparing to attack the enemy base. I don't really recommend doing these solo, unless you like a challenge. If you've any other questions, I'll try answering them as well. Hope this provided some insight into a few of the things you may have missed.
@Polyistic I will be on when you next read this. I'll wait on block B-001, by the gate to the Campship. I'll be the male Cast with white hair, substantial height, and a blue Katana on my back.
Personal suggestion for new players for NA version. I highly suggest AGAINST playing Force or Summoner on day 1. Both classes I consider "late bloomers". Both need considerable investment before they consider to be playable. For Force, you lack the PP and the Tech early on. For Summoner, you lack the eggs and stats for pets. I suggest you play on other classes and then use the resources to jump over the early game to make it more feasible.
@@AleTango1 the NA version hasn't come out yet. it is currently in closed beta. Also i agree with Phoenix in that sense. Since Hunter is essentially the most versatile subclass possible, peopel can start with hunter and move on to other classes. Braver and Bouncer are cool on their own though. XD
I really wanted to like Force because I enjoy mages, but I just couldn't make myself enjoy playing it. I've seen some late-game footage of Forces and Techers tearing it up and it looks badass as hell... but the early game for them is just... ugh.
using force is easier to killing mobs tho, they have some aerial/multi-target technique to eliminate mobs. so, i still recommend to use it as your first class. but the problem is facing field boss. it's gonna be a nightmare if you can calculate your charging technique.
Don't let the race stat bother much about your gameplay. Make sure your skill tree and mag build don't mess up. You can use skill simulator for experimenting points. Try ask experts or veteran for skill tree guide on certain classes. For mag, you only get one free per character. Some classes can covert dex mag into two attack. Still, You can level down mag stat with 5xcube nowadays. before was 50xcube quite a lot.
@@rue6368 skill tree and mag . you can refer here ( arks-layer.com/skillsim/skillcalc.php ) it also have info about race and gender stat. If you not sure which skill to learn. Try ask someone from team or pso2 discord team for skill tree template. Nowdays feeding a mag is much easier. Do a main mission and get a mag feeding box reward ( reward based on each character ) or trade a photon sphere at npc counter for mag stat device.
Agreed. Race isn't anywhere near as impactful as this video makes it seem. Just play what you want, you'll be fine. Skill tree and Mags are FAR more important.
@@Serin9X Yeah but if you wanna hit max dps your going to wanna be a dewman as they have the highest melee and ranged attack in game, 2nd highest tech attack after newman so they are quite viable for that as well, the diff between the 2 Tech wise is VERY small. But Dewman is much better at pretty much any non-force class than newman or humans are. For force they are 2nd best, or in the case of techer, probally top since melee attack benefits the class quite a bit. Hp is low, but its a bit better than newman's max hp, their defense sucks but, mainly its about dodging, and rappy shine with its +777 max hp can easly make up for it.
@@scyris99 oh sure, math is math. There's always going to be an ideal race choice for whatever you want to do. But the fact is the numeric difference isn't that big between them.
I know I am new to this channel and the game it self, but I want to help out Ginger Prime by Writing down all the sections of the video in timers...does that makes sense..anyways here they are: 0:00 - Introduction 1:03 - Highlighted an TH-camr the Check Out 1:27 - Race & Class (They have Impact in classes you play) 2:47 - Main Class and Subclass Overview 4:33 - Notes for Beginners All Beginner Classes (Type of Class over all are in parentheses) (Melee) 5:13 - Hunter 6:34 - Fighter (Range) 8:12 - Ranger 9:59 - Gunner (Caster)
Man, I saw Hunter and was like yeah that looks fun, then I saw Gunner and was like oh that's the one for me! Then I saw Braver and my inner samurai went nuts, then I saw Bouncer and my brain melted. I am so looking forward to playing this!
I started out as a bouncer and the jet boots did it for me.. They are the flippy kicky cartwheel awayee type of chaotic action that I rarely ever play because I usually main tank in most games.. Its a fun class :)
PS4 Hype! (but I'll be playing on PS5) I'm going to play Braver because I love Katana. Phantom sounds interesting for when I unlock the ascension classes. Thanks for covering everything that's available, it's hard finding info that is for PSO2, it's all about New Genesis.
from a convenience stand point i would say hunter is one of the best to start because it can be used as a good subclass for almost every class which can not be said for any other class in the game
Absolutely, things like stances, ja bonuses, and, chance to not die when you are killed, automate are valuable to anyone who needs a little more damage or margin of error
This is very true, Hunter is a viable subclass for virtually every other job, it has a ton of tools that aren't class locked (Main class only), Many endgame builds also use hunter for their subclass, I'm probally going to level hunter first myself for this reason, so many classes can use it for sub, you will need a 2nd skill tree though, because hunter as a subjob often uses a slightly different, or vastly different skill set. Though iirc there was a build when I played last where it can be used to main hunter as well as be perfectly viable for subjobing at the same time.
@@LtZerge Automate is life because it'll work even if your stunned, and it has no drinking animation so its just instant heal that uses your items when you need it. Does get costly in items though as once you get spoiled by automate you tend to get lazy because you know if it doesn't one shot you automate will take care of it most likely. Its the automate curse. lol
@@scyris99 When SEA server was still up, I used to run automate along with sword so I can just face tanks everything with guard and spam sonic arrow whenever its up lol
That's why his voice sounds so familiar! I've been listening to Brian from the other game. Looks like I'll be listening to him again for this one. Awesome!
Just found out about PSO2 a few days ago and I’m so insanely happy to be back in the Phantasy Star universe, I loved t first PSO! I already knew what class I wanted; Ranger all the way!
Pro tip to those of you who pick bouncer for sure. Priority 1 Photon Art to pick up? Megiverse. Goes the same for most people but for you guys ESPECIALLY. with the rapid hard-hitting attacks, megiverse is your best friend. it heals you based on how much damage you do for every strike. yes, it will make your attacks dark oriented for a while. But that's fine when you go from double digit HP all the way to max in 1.5 seconds.
I'm loving the game thus far. I remember playing PSU. In this game I've gone with a female CAST Bouncer with Fighter Sub. Works very well for my boss rush skills.
I'm so excited for this game. I haven't played a Phantasy Star Online game since the Sega Dreamcast days. It was my first online MMO. Any details on the PC version? Any beta testing for PC?
@@bagusprayogo7025 Yes but if you later join the Western Server for better latency doesn't that mean all your invested progress on the tweaker version can't go over to the western version? Everyone starts at equal standing when western server is open so might as well wait for that kind of excitement and better latency.
@@ruvimperna5532 yes, i heard that theres no login with SEGA ID selection for the xbox one but im not to sure about that, they might change it in the future, cuz i dont want move to western server if i cant carry my progress, i dont want to lose all 5 years progression with this game
@@GingerPrimeGaming Hunter or ranger, avoid force as a new player is my advice. If they really want advice i'd tell them to max hunter first, as its used as a subjob for MANY other jobs, so its great to have it at level cap for when you decide to pick those jobs. In the end i'd prob be braver or ranger, ranger can do some insane damage both single target and aoe, from 30+ meters away.
When I started playing on the JP, I started as a CAST Braver. It shaped how frantic I like to play, and by the present I've dedicated hard into Ranger, Fighter, and the new(ish) Phantom classes as well. Dodge or block, defy all the enemy's attacks and punish em! To all new players to either the JP or NA server, don't get discouraged if a new class seems unclear or difficult. Play around with skills and weapons, find your niche or what is comfortable to you, and if you need to, look for guides to explain aspects that may be less apparent. Even veteran players benefit from new perspectives on techniques or combinations that they believed they knew everything about already. Most importantly, have fun!
Back in the JP servers, I used Gunner and lemme tell ya. Reaching level 90, you'll get a skill that will just make your bullets straight up AoE and a huge power boost!
I'm wanting to be a ranger to start. I'll have Gunner my secondary and switch to it later on. and I'm going to pick a cast male as my character. I'm super excited about this game.
My online experience with PSO was through PSP2. My main(and most fun character) was a female Human Vanguard with most investment in knuckles. If I ever start, might follow your recommendation to main Fighter and sub Hunter.
Definitely going with the Knuckles when the NA PC version releases. I like going for the hand to hand martial arts classes in any games. This is pretty close for me since its boxing.
I'm kinda disappointed that the gun based classes have only get 2 weapons each. I liked the large variety of different weapons in PSO1, are there different versions of weapons each class gets or is it really just AR + launcher or AR + machine guns? I'll still check it out when it come out on PC and maybe it will grow on me, but i'm kinda bummed atm.
spread would be a great weapon to add. hit multi targets, or all shots focused on boss? yes please. he didnt mention the gunblade that everyone can use, but to be fair, its lackluster to everyone.
@@oscarpine7145 You can you just have to build for it specifically and it might not be as good as other options; but efficiency really only matters for the real hard / endgame stuff anyway.
Optimal Gunner build is Gu/Hu until level 84. At level 85, Gu/Fi becomes best for general play and Gu/Su is best for bossing. You can still play Gu/Fi before level 84, but you'll want to be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY experienced with gunner before you switch over to Fi subclass.
So you have a lot of misinformation here: 1) Racial stats are, for the most part, very small (exceptions going to CAST and Newman for T-ATK). Race has mostly been a cosmetic thing for players. 2) NEVER FOLLOW SEGA'S RECOMMEND FOR TREE POINTS. If you are not certain where to place points, hold off on doing so and find something like a guide. The biggest source of information on the English side comes from PSO2 Fleet Discord, I recommend checking that out. You can also find JP players in videos and they usually have a tree they link in their videos. 3) Explaining classes in the VR Training room does not really help players see the potential of a class. Also, explaining that the best race for X class is Y is incorrect. Min-maxing is a thing, but it is not required if you are a casual. 4) I assume it was an editing error, but Bouncer uses Dual Blades. You had the Double Saber icon. I think it's great to see content creators show their enthusiasm for PSO2, but doing a bit more research and having more experience with classes would be helpful for new players since a lot of players on NA will be fresh out of the water, and I hope you will give feedback on this. Cheers.
@@GingerPrimeGaming Unfortunately, new players might as well learn the "noob traps" of PSO2. Skill trees are very costly to mess up, since resetting them is very annoying and is only possible if you buy another tree via AC, or wait until they do class balance where they give out Skill Tree Reset passes. I get it, the amount of information is overwhelming, but if the player wants to stick with the game long-term, they will learn to soak in information at their own pace. I don't think that's the worst thing a new player has to learn (Affixing is usually the worst thing a player has to learn down the line, and is poorly explained in game). Referring players to guides, websites, or any other source of PSO2 information will at least show them what to do. Also, asking for help from experienced players is also a good thing to do. Either way, just consider this for your future videos since I know you clearly don't mean to give misinformation, but a lot of experienced players in this community will give you an earful for wrong information (which is entirely fair). Cheers.
Your correction of misinformation has misinformation. I don't recommend the PSO2 Fleet Discord. Their skill trees are outdated as is most of their community's information (as an example, they have 4 Fi/Hu trees when you only need 1). Personally, I would only look for skill trees made by someone in Skylark, Night Arks, or Ignition. There are certain people in other teams ("alliances" on NA) who are an exception to this (usually team owners/managers), but I highly doubt many of them will be playing NA for any amount of time if at all. The purpose of VR training isn't to see the potential of a class, it's to allow the player to see if they will enjoy the class and hopefully they can find something they're familiar with and can enjoy. Also, explaining that X race is best for Y class IS correct. Each class has an optimal race and gender to go along with it. Sure, not everyone has to play optimally, but it's important to know what optimal looks like.
I've been watching your New Player Guides because the game has been interesting and *the moment* I saw how flashy the Gunner's animations were, I instantly knew which class I wanted to main.
Nice guide, summoner is a great starting class. Pet eggs drop often and can be used to level you're pets fast early they also making leveling other classes u may lack gear for ez. Another thing not mentioned here is Fighter is a very good class to start, it's stances make it an awesome 2nd class to anything (Yes even tech/force/summoner ect). The stance buffs do work in conjunction to players positioning for pets to get the bonus damage effects. Casters force attacks to.
I played the Beta a ton yesterday as a Cast Hunter primarily using the sword. It was a ton of fun, and it got a lot better when I got better a just guarding. I didn’t really try the other classes, or even know that you could have a sub-class because I was trying to get the most out of the very short-lived beta. I’ll definitely have to try out fighter and ranger when I get a chance, those machine guns and the slow-mo look awesome!
I went with braver in jp. For NA I'm running bouncer. Totally loving the mix between Techs and physical attacks. It's almost like every fight you get into as a bouncer is different and it feels so engaging. Also am a Dewman.
I'm stuck between Ranger and Bouncer. I know I can play both classes, but the main class I choose will determine the appearance of my character. My Ranger appearance has a bulkier, camo aesthetic, while the Bouncer has a sleek, sky blue color.
well, not all skills from your subclass become usable by what i discovered in late game, Force and Techer have some multi element skills that is not usable if any of these two classes arent selected as your main class, you gain acess to then after accepting a quest from the Force/techer instructor npc ( the purple one at the gate area) and complete it, what involves defeating supernaturals and completing the bewitched woods exploration (with any class). aside that, you gave a lot of info there
I played Pso on dreamcast and loved my android and the spread needle I'm going to be playing the beta test this weekend what would you recommend for me?
I just picked a Cast and made him a ranger. I will try out the other classes, too. Got to say, I never really enjoyed making a character before in character creation until this guy I made. I’ve played games with advanced character creators, but this felt different. His name is Oddhorn. Thanks for the guide, as it made me feel more at ease picking a class. In fact, it actively makes me want to try more!
in the end you don't really care about what race you going to cuz fashion is the true ending so it really are your preference. i mean im a Tech focused CAST
Thing is dewman are the best overall due to the generally low max hp all classes have and the fact you can get a rappy shine which adds a whopping 777 to your max hp when equipped and it can be used at a fairy low level. Pso2 is all about dodging stuff, not really tanking. The attack diff may not seem like much but some pa's have 1000%+ modifiers on them, so that 100+ more attack ends up being noticably higher dps in the end.
Hmm. I'm a bit confused by the Main Class, Sub Class bit. Might have to watch that section again to see if I get it. But, I'm assuming that only the Main Class' weapons can be equipped, no matter what Sub-Class, right? And what about Magic? Can Melee and Ranged classes just not use Tech skills? I'm coming from PSU and I'm kind of surprised that the weapon system is a tad different. I was hoping for good ol' combinations to come back, like the one handed Saber and Handgun. Or The R-MAG or T-MAG. Maybe I just wanted to be a Jedi again too much; swinging a Photon Saber in one hand and shooting out lightning in the other. XD
Yes you can only equip main class weapons(there are also all class weapons that all classes can equip but they usually suck) and yes melee and ranged cannot use magic by default, however if you pair them with a sub class that CAN use magic then your melee or ranged class can use magic too but that's not always viable because melee and ranged lack the weapons and stats/skills to make magic worth using except for support magic or small buffs.
@@Stahl-Grim Thanks for the info. What weapons can all classes use? I don't mind if they aren't the best for min/maxing. I just plan on playing for fun. As long as they are viable.
@@Sonickeyblade00 generally they're not even viable, you lose 10% dmg from not using main class weapon on top of the all class weapons having terribly low stats and bad potentials
@@Stahl-Grim Aww man. That sucks. :( I hope they get a buff in the future. Sure, I wouldn't ever expect them to be good for min/maxing as they're available to everyone in every class. But being so far behind that they're not even viable is kind of sad. Makes the entire weapon category useless if I'm not mistaken. And Gunslash is an awesome concept too. So double ouch for me. At the very least, thanks for the warning. I won't bring one to any "serious" battles I ever come across when I get the game.
This video was extremely helpful. I played PSU way back when and I'm currently waiting for my Xbox One to be delivered so I can play PSO2. You definitely help me choose a class (Braver). Thanks!
I'm getting ready to start on Xbox and I'm really curious as to how these classes will pan out for me. I'm usually a Paladin (group heals and high crit) or rogue (ranged and high crit), and I'm considering Braver with Hunter sub. We'll see what happens when I get around to actually playing.
NEVER use Sega's recommended builds. They have outdated ideas about how the classes are suppose to play, and unfortunately set up the enemies to counter the rampant min-maxing. This means that in late to end game you WILL be hurting for damage if you use the recommended skill tree option. instead, use the community builds on the PSO2 discord. Also stop putting so much emphasis on race and gender. The stat differences are negligible past early game, and build, mag, and gear are far more important.
it might be negligible but 70 more hp can mean a lot to a fighter or hero due to limit break or hero boost so i think its worth mentioning so people can plan ahead
@@GingerPrimeGaming While I agree that using the "Set Recommended" makes it less intimidating, the big problem is that skill trees cannot be reset for FREE. So if you make a mistake or take Sega's less optimal builds, you will be stuck for a long time until Sega does another batch of re-balancing. Kind of a shame.
I think I'd like Braver with either something support-like for subclass like Ranger or something also hard hitting like gunner if I want to embrace that YOLO style and go full force... the sure thing is that Braver will be my class... Katana AND a bow? Where do I sign???
You really sold the game well, I saw it was popular on Steam after a long time not playing on the platform for free to play games and wondered why it was popular seeing the graphics, it is a heavy download but it looks like it's worth a try, thank you for all the information
I'm hesitating between picking my Gunner or Ranger back up from PSO2 JP early years or go for Summoner. I really liked the Ranged gameplay in PSO2 but don't really like Force/Techer. Fighter would probably be my striking choice.
I started on a human hunter. I've always preferred getting up close and personal with the enemy, learning how each boss fights, and dodging around dark souls style beating the living shit out of them with a big ass sword. But now things have changed. I still play that same human but now its a bouncer/hunter (dual blade only). Now instead of getting up close and personal, I walk into a room, charge into a crowd of enemies, and decimate them with photon arts. Just simply as an advertisement for them, dual blades have these stance and AOE buffs which extend to other players making you like this mini support/DPS badass. Heavy emphasis on special attack, critical hits, and maneuverability.
Techer main here, don't let low T-atk dmg discourage you to play Te, cuz Te basically smashing Mage/paladin, it has pretty Hi S-atk too and Te support PA is basically give more buff than Fo, cuz Te basically "Magic swordman" in game, with all the subclass that available you'll find a'lot of different playstyle in each subclass you use. since it starter class it got compound tech too that deal insanely huge of dmg. It's challenging to use Te in PSO, especially when you hit the End game, expert matching. and lastly just like Fo it got compound tech too which is insanly hurt, + Te melee can do an elemental blast which is deal extra dmg whenever you hit enemies. so Zondeel, Ramegid Type-0, and hit that smash button when your trying Te.
Chief, I don't think you've realized this because you haven't capped yet, but race/class combo is worthless at (current 90 cap) endgame unless you're on a team trying to get like sub 5 minute clears of Armada. Plenty of cast phantoms and forces at ultra hard. Also, all classes can double jump at 90 cap, not just jet boots. This could all change if NA decides to start at like episode 4 or something though.
I started as Force and subbed into Techter. Currently it's pretty fun, wish it had a tad more mobility though. I like force bullets on my rod too, don't judge!
Been looking into this game for years, and heard its finally getting a western release. I'd probably pick a ranger. That is if the game comes to the PS4 in the west.
You can play for free on pc, probably won't hit ps4 because microsoft took a chance paying for localization and all that. It's on the switch in japan like ps4 and they never even hinted towards it
I'm pretty sure other players cannot contribute to gunner chains unless they changed that since episode 4... And Bouncer does not use Double Saber like Fighter, Dual Blades are an entirely different weapon class. Also, every class has a double jump now if I understand correctly, Jet Boots isn't special for having one. Before a player might have a pair of Jet Boots with no class restriction for extra mobility but that's a thing of the past. Maybe Jet Boots grant you a 3rd now? I don't know, I haven't played since those skills were added to the class trees.
u wont have access to the new classes since the game wont have access to episode 5 or 6 which allows access to phantom and hero class. it takes 3 classes to 75 to complete the hero class unlock quest and u have to acquire the title from the title counter. once u unlock the class on 1 character. any and all other characters on the same account have the class unlock quest auto completed upon receiving it
So back in the day on PSO1 for Xbox I played as (I believe) a long range Ranger class. I had a sniper rifle with something called "DIM" power on it. Thing was practically a One hitter quitter. My question is...are there any sniper Rifles in this game? Im always the Sniper in my group.
Hey ive never played pso2, im going to play at the pc release next week.. something i dont quite understand with classe is yes they have multiple weapon but.. do i need to use them , like do i have to weapon switch mid combat?
I don’t do a lot of weapon switching, but you can if you wanted to change it up. The most switching I do is to access new skills that I want to use... stun, aoe, ect. But I’m not comboing weapon skills together
Pretty much the only class you're going to want to switch weapons is Bouncer, as it's big PAs have longer cooldowns, so you swap weapons after, but even then that's only the "optimal" way to play. Any other class it's really just a preference.
I'm using an xbox one controller so they are native to the platform, what type of controller are you using? Also, does this help? - th-cam.com/video/7WK_W-Mzz5M/w-d-xo.html
Gonna be honest, girl cast bouncer served me quite well on the beta. Not sure what I want to do for a sub class, figure I'll play around with different combos and see what sticks.
Wait, so it's like Monster Hunter... but as an MMORPG? This sounds too good to be true... Edit: Apparently MH exists because of Phantasy Star. After finishing World's content, I'm down to play this until Cyberpunk 2077 :o
11:24 I made three low level characters. Deuman F - Braver (Br/Hu), Cast F - Ranger (Ra/Hu), and Newman F - Force (Fo/Te). My observation, Force is not playable early game. See comment by Wild_Phoenix. For extra experience, obtain and run automatic procurement missions using an auxiliary NPC for each character in your room. Update: Daily consume a random drink (100 meseta) and food (jerky) for 80k experience, 100% Exp booster, and 3 Lambda grinders. My Force is level 60, Braver level 60, and Ranger level 61. Force will be much better after they can craft new Techniques. I will create a Deuman F or Human F (Fi/Hu).
@@redfiend1670 is your game really really slow in the lobby? I can barely function in the lobby but in an instance it's fine. And this is on a rig with a 9th gen i7 and an rtx2080 and gigabit internet. Luckily I didn't have any install issues but Microsoft and Sega seemed to have botched the launch pretty bad! Still excited and hoping they fix the issues.
Just started playing this and glad I found your video! I tried Braver first; thought it was alright, but then tried Ranger next and fell in love with it. After watching your video I really wanna try Gunner and Summoner too though.
So I'm liking how Gunner and Ranger seem with the Guns, but he said for race only Cast is the best option is this for the survivability? Can you not go Dewman for even more offensive capabilities on these 2 ranged classes or will you be too risky and squishy????
I really hope this game runs on my laptop I just ran the benchmark and got a score of 4000 and fps went from 30 to 70 .....how would that translate into the game?
Not really sure what’s driving your specs, but if that doesn’t work for you, and you have good bandwidth you might want to check out shadow pc as a gaming option :)

I can see Microsoft keep their hands on PSO2 to only the Xbox 1 and Windows 10 PC systems. Maybe Switch but PS4 is unlikely. But I would love to be proven wrong on this. Cross-Play is slowly becoming a standard for online games these days.
@@ShadeKoopa I doubt it. It will take some time for Microsoft to get Sony to agree to support cross-platform play with Xbox. It has yet to ever happen except maybe on a select few games
I chose a male human and bounced around quite a bit. I like most of the classes but fell in love with the fighter class. Those knuckles are too much fun. For sub class I went with techter for buffs and heals. Not sure if that's a good idea in the big scheme of things, but I'm having a blast with it.
Apparently the summoner meta is beefing up the chestnut pillow one, have it take damage so it starts to swell up and then explode-tossing it at bosses. Least it was last time I bothered to check.
For instance, it usually looks something like this:
Hunter: Easy
Fighter: Intermediate
Force: Advanced
Techer: Advanced
Ranger: Easy
Gunner: Advanced
Braver: Intermediate
Summoner: Advanced
Bouncer: Intermediate
This simply means the difficulty a new player might have when starting as said classes.
@Polyistic Haha. I wish you luck. If you play on Ship 10, feel free to seek me out.
@Polyistic I will be on when you next read this. I'll wait on block B-001, by the gate to the Campship. I'll be the male Cast with white hair, substantial height, and a blue Katana on my back.
@Polyistic Who should I be waiting for?
Personal suggestion for new players for NA version. I highly suggest AGAINST playing Force or Summoner on day 1. Both classes I consider "late bloomers". Both need considerable investment before they consider to be playable.
For Force, you lack the PP and the Tech early on.
For Summoner, you lack the eggs and stats for pets.
I suggest you play on other classes and then use the resources to jump over the early game to make it more feasible.
excuse me i want to play the game but idk how can i download for pc
@@AleTango1 the NA version hasn't come out yet. it is currently in closed beta. Also i agree with Phoenix in that sense. Since Hunter is essentially the most versatile subclass possible, peopel can start with hunter and move on to other classes. Braver and Bouncer are cool on their own though. XD
I really wanted to like Force because I enjoy mages, but I just couldn't make myself enjoy playing it. I've seen some late-game footage of Forces and Techers tearing it up and it looks badass as hell... but the early game for them is just... ugh.
@@Serin9X Esp with the long af mirage step
using force is easier to killing mobs tho, they have some aerial/multi-target technique to eliminate mobs. so, i still recommend to use it as your first class. but the problem is facing field boss. it's gonna be a nightmare if you can calculate your charging technique.
Where can I find info on skill trees and mags? I only remember feeding trimates to my mag for additional power.
@@rue6368 skill tree and mag . you can refer here
( arks-layer.com/skillsim/skillcalc.php ) it also have info about race and gender stat.

Thanks for covering everything that's available, it's hard finding info that is for PSO2, it's all about New Genesis.
So excited that PlayStation is finally getting pso2 :)
from a convenience stand point i would say hunter is one of the best to start because it can be used as a good subclass for almost every class which can not be said for any other class in the game
Its the automate curse. lol

I decided to be a Cast Bouncer.
Yeah I know it's not optimal, but I just couldn't pass up the chance to be Cyborg Chun-Li.

Easy answer. All of them. Stat boosts once you get them to 75 besides the advance classes.

My online experience with PSO was through PSP2. My main(and most fun character) was a female Human Vanguard with most investment in knuckles.
If I ever start, might follow your recommendation to main Fighter and sub Hunter.
From the looks of it, either fighter or hunter as my main class then followed by techer as a sub class seems like a very good sustain match
Looking forward to hearing what you think. :)
Also, you don't have to do the Character Class Training Mission, it is just Optional. It is tough to complete as a Bouncer. Just 411.
Well in PSO My main was a FT/MF My second was FF/MF/FG So I will more than likely play something similar to that.
Awesome and I hope you have fun and also welcome! Looking forward to getting your thoughts on the game once it comes out in NA :)
Braver and Hunter
Gunner and ranger
Tech is recommended for end game, it is really hard to start with that class if you don't know what you are doing.
Definitely going with the Knuckles when the NA PC version releases. I like going for the hand to hand martial arts classes in any games. This is pretty close for me since its boxing.
Welcome to the Fisting club.
You might consider the bouncer too. The jet boots as awesome. I like Knucks too, but are stale to play with at the jump.

From what I've gathered, peepee.. very important..
Very. :)
I'm kinda disappointed that the gun based classes have only get 2 weapons each. I liked the large variety of different weapons in PSO1, are there different versions of weapons each class gets or is it really just AR + launcher or AR + machine guns? You can't use them both at the same time; but you can fairly quickly swap between them if you're one class with the other as subclass.

Same. But is gunner gonna be available day 1? Or do you have to build up ranger first?
@@frankcurreri8374 if the information from the announcement is correct Gunner WILL be available on launch at the class change counter
@@GingerPrimeGaming what was the combo in this video for gunner? Gu/Hu?
Optimal Gunner build is Gu/Hu until level 84. At level 85, Gu/Fi becomes best for general play and Gu/Su is best for bossing. You can still play Gu/Fi before level 84, but you'll want to be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY experienced with gunner before you switch over to Fi subclass.
@@TaIathar good info, but what about Race selection? Can you do even more damage as Dewman and subclass fighter? Or too squishy and risky?????
So you have a lot of misinformation here:
1) Racial stats are, for the most part, very small (exceptions going to CAST and Newman for T-ATK).
Cheers.
Thanks you
@@GingerPrimeGaming Unfortunately, new players might as well learn the "noob traps" of PSO2.
Hope you enjoy Gunner and PSO2 :)
Thanks for the tips! That's really good to know :)
Gunner with range, height and dps.. that's my go to
I hope you enjoy it as much as I have :)
Dove in as gunner too. Playing as a castand sorta just wanna roleplay as a Mecha lol

Those Sub Machine Guns Are Sick
I'm stuck between Ranger and Bouncer. I know I can play both classes, but the main class I choose will determine the appearance of my character. My Ranger appearance has a bulkier, camo aesthetic, while the Bouncer has a sleek, sky blue color.
Ranger, just because of their orbital satellite laser is Damn OP when stack with a lot of debuff. You will see so much orbital strike in raids
Ranger
Orbital satellite + weak bullet = 999,999 dmg.
well, not all skills from your subclass become usable by what i discovered in late game, Force and Techer have some multi element skills that is not usable if any of these two classes arent selected as your main class, you gain acess to then after accepting a quest from the Force/techer instructor npc ( the purple one at the gate area) and complete it, what involves defeating supernaturals and completing the bewitched woods exploration (with any class).
aside that, you gave a lot of info there

Ginger Prime agrees I’ve been really enjoying it, the game itself is really overwhelming at first but I’m getting there!

Thats exactly what I did. And with the Ragol Pack, I even got to bring over my old RAcast skin! It's awesome!
GUNDAM WIZARD
I won't bring one to any "serious" battles I ever come
across when I get the game.

Hero, Phantom Class
This video was extremely helpful. I played PSU way back when and I'm currently waiting for my Xbox One to be delivered so I can play PSO2. You definitely help me choose a class (Braver). Thanks!
Im looking into this while the game downloads, im thinking techer with summoner subclass or vice versa
My friend has been playing summoner and enjoying it.
Double Saber icon for Bouncer? Should be Dual Blade one instead.
I'm the only one of my friends that wants to play so what's a good solo class?
Hunter as it can bring a lot of damage and you can also spec it for survivability.
@@GingerPrimeGaming would Braver be a good subclass to pair? I was leaning towards either of those honestly.
Yeah, that sounds like fun actually :)
no just for correction, all class is good for solo if you know how to play with the class
What’s the best way to be a healer for a group? Force?
Hey guys, I always want a dps class with aoe damage and not die quickly, so what type of race and class would that be?
Ranger with the launcher has a lot of AOE and Hunter does a good job of it too. Race, go with human or cast :)
El Chapo Huncho duman hunter
I'm getting ready to start on Xbox and I'm really curious as to how these classes will pan out for me. I'm usually a Paladin (group heals and high crit) or rogue (ranged and high crit), and I'm considering Braver with Hunter sub. We'll see what happens when I get around to actually playing.
I think you’ll enjoy Braver sub Hunter :)
This. if antything, the only thing limiting you from having all classes on a single character is being F2P and only having one mag per character IIRC.
it might be negligible but 70 more hp can mean a lot to a fighter or hero due to limit break or hero boost so i think its worth mentioning so people can plan ahead
Where can I find this pso2 build discord?
I want to find out the correct way to build.
@@lolelelo2210 go to arks layer and click on pso2 discord.
I think I'd like Braver with either something support-like for subclass like Ranger or something also hard hitting like gunner if I want to embrace that YOLO style and go full force... the sure thing is that Braver will be my class... Katana AND a bow? Where do I sign???
I’m going to choose Gunner with Hunter subclass
Excellent choice :)
You really sold the game well, I saw it was popular on Steam after a long time not playing on the platform for free to play games and wondered why it was popular seeing the graphics, it is a heavy download but it looks like it's worth a try, thank you for all the information
Sure thing! I hope you have fun and the game has a massive update planned for next year that will launch it in a brand new engine and new graphics too
I'm having major PSU vibes and I can't wait to spam in the lobbies again.
Side note I will try to linger around ship 3 during the beta see y'all there!
See you there
I miss that game. Even tho I only played the free beta that lasted for a long time it still was a pretty fun time
I'm hesitating between picking my Gunner or Ranger back up from PSO2 JP early years or go for Summoner. I really liked the Ranged gameplay in PSO2 but don't really like Force/Techer. Fighter would probably be my striking choice.
I appreciate you making this video, definitely helps me in deciding what to go with. I look forward to seeing more PSO2 content in the future
What did you decide? :)
@@GingerPrimeGaming Thinking of going summoner
Very nice, when the game releases, be sure to update me on what you decided and your thoughts on the game :)
I love mmo rpgs, just found out this is coming to Xbox and signed up for the beta this weekend, stoked for it
Techer main here, don't let low T-atk dmg discourage you to play Te, cuz Te basically smashing Mage/paladin, it has pretty Hi S-atk too and Te support PA is basically give more buff than Fo, cuz Te basically "Magic swordman" in game, with all the subclass that available you'll find a'lot of different playstyle in each subclass you use. since it starter class it got compound tech too that deal insanely huge of dmg.
Bouncer, Techer, and Summoner for me
Hope you love the job :)
Summoners are also the only 2nd? or 3rd? Character Class that can use Force, and technique-can cast Rest to heal pets and friends+themselves!
I feel like playing as John Wick
@Joan Mirabal msic to my ears
But there is no pencil lol
@@aeil No worries I will find an way
No puppies were harmed in the making of ps02...
Male Cast Ranger here I come. Time to live out my Gundam fantasies!
Hopefully it will come to PS4 sometime... not dates or info on that yet, but we'll let you know.
@@GingerPrimeGaming I hope so, it looks epic.
You can play for free on pc, probably won't hit ps4 because microsoft took a chance paying for localization and all that. It's on the switch in japan like ps4 and they never even hinted towards it
@@ButtMcDuck If I had a pc I wouldn't be asking if it was coming to PS4.
@@Crazy_Neopolitan you didn't say if you did or not. Nothing in the post alluded to that. But thanks for a smart a** remark.
Good breakdown. Have a question tho. Can u just freely change btwn your weapons or do you specialize in one of them?
Yes, you can.
ya get a scoll wheel with like 8 configurations and can even swap between the entire tool bar with 4 total setups
" hey guys im out of PP ""
well that didn't turn out well LOL
Eewww..
D: out of PP!? Drink some wawa
i can already listen to my friends laughing about that every fucking day.
on that same vein... at least it isn't ゐゐ. I'll show myself out
I'm pretty sure other players cannot contribute to gunner chains unless they changed that since episode 4...
Always big gundam cast lol. Will be getting most of them too 75 or Atleast 1s that unlock the new classes.
u wont have access to the new classes since the game wont have access to episode 5 or 6 which allows access to phantom and hero class. it takes 3 classes to 75 to complete the hero class unlock quest and u have to acquire the title from the title counter. once u unlock the class on 1 character. any and all other characters on the same account have the class unlock quest auto completed upon receiving it
So back in the day on PSO1 for Xbox I played as (I believe) a long range Ranger class. I had a sniper rifle with something called "DIM" power on it. Thing was practically a One hitter quitter. My question is...are there any sniper Rifles in this game? Im always the Sniper in my group.
no, they nixed many weapon types, especially gun ones. the phantom class uses the AR like a longer ranged single shot weapon tho.
You can set loadouts and switch between them, but they're not necessary. It's good to have options though.
Pretty much the only class you're going to want to switch weapons is Bouncer, as it's big PAs have longer cooldowns, so you swap weapons after, but even then that's only the "optimal" way to play. Any other class it's really just a preference.
Derek Jepson thx alot :)
@Ginger Prime. How did you get your controller to work on PC? I tried to use mine but the buttons wouldn't sync up right
I'm using an xbox one controller so they are native to the platform, what type of controller are you using? Also, does this help? - th-cam.com/video/7WK_W-Mzz5M/w-d-xo.html
Ranger looks pretty cool but I'm ngl, the constant mag swapping looks a little goofy animation wise lol
These guys are superhumans. So swapping mags very fast isnt that unrealistic.
@@Doflaminguard I didn't say it was? I just said the animation was goofy
Gonna be honest, girl cast bouncer served me quite well on the beta. Not sure what I want to do for a sub class, figure I'll play around with different combos and see what sticks.
Hmmmm, I think I'll try gunner. Those flips look so dope!
They are! :D
Outside of playing a CAST I have no idea what i'll do. The typical class types i gravitate too look so different here.
Wait, so it's like Monster Hunter... but as an MMORPG?
This sounds too good to be true...
Edit: Apparently MH exists because of Phantasy Star. After finishing World's content, I'm down to play this until Cyberpunk 2077 :o
Fun story, monster hunter is inspired by this game.
Man I'm looking forward to this in a couple days. Used to love the old one, and I'm getting hella burned out in ffxiv right now
ffxiv is suffering from huge content drought thanks to covid19, so yeah

Is this not being published by Microsoft?
it's already on the PS4, Nintendo switch, PS vita and PC. all of them use the JP servers. xbox and windows 10 will get the English version 1st
I can see Microsoft keep their hands on PSO2 to only the Xbox 1 and Windows 10 PC systems.
Maybe Switch but PS4 is unlikely.
