I’ve always thought Harbor would be really good on Abyss. The diversity in wall and smoke abilities seemed perfect with how many choke points and angles needing to be held there are on Abyss.
NRG looks like a team that has been putting in the work finding their spot in the developing meta, not letting last year's performance impact their drive to succeed this time around. Very cool to see, and I'm looking forward to FNS, s0m and Ethan helping these fresh talents find their footing. That being said, I would say a bomb-out performance similar to what happened last year would be SIGNIFICANTLY more surprising for 2025 than for 2024, since there were plenty of questions and concerns around the team by the start of the 2024 season. I just don't want any clown teams, FeelsBadMan
I think the big positive for NRG is that they don’t need to find themselves like SEN. their roles are clearly defined on who will play what and they are all great at what they do. Sen has the skill and structure but they are kind of stuck in another pancada situation where narrate was a top tier flex/initiator who is now having to be more sentinel/controller
Agreed except Narrate is probably doing better at adapting to the role change but it’s forsure not ideal. Not really sure what prompted them to make the role swap. JohnQT was doing fine on sentinel and narrate showed he’s elite initiator who can flex so this swap is very questionable. Hoping this is just some offseason experimentation.
I think a good buff to harbor would be his walls negating (gobbling up) enemy flashes thrown into / through it with the exception of KO flash since his flash is a solid object
That T1 team not only is it good on paper , it's also good when they played this offseason , i have them as a dark horse winning internationals this year as one of the favourites
The problem of T1 is that how strong they are against other APAC teams on a BO3 format? RBHG has a lot of BO1 matches and those were not a good representation of how they would perform in the next season of VCT. Combine that with Pacific League in 2025 would be stacked because so many teams are improving now.
@@ayelmao1919 that is true , but this roster they have this year is pretty stacked , i think the coach got alot of resources and trust from an org as big as T1 over the years , so maybe they think of him highly , but this is his last chance he needs to give results , this thing best roster T1 has gotten in val.
Harbour always been good when used well with the right comp. Although his wall shouldn’t slow teammates & the cove should stay a shield-less smoke once shot.
I think although this is FNS Masterclass, if a team with massive firepower advantage like in-form PRX plays against them then they would get outgunned hence reducing the impact of the tactics a bit.
Yeah, they even got overwhelmed in some rounds by RLF, BLG, and MITH just by sheer of firepower alone. NRG only got Verno fragging like crazy and sometimes Mada helps as well if his entry works.
I think we forget that one of the things a strategically deep val team is good at is shutting down opportunities for these frag heavy teams to frag out. Even in Optic, Yay and Marved were the only real "shooters" on the team, but because of how the team played so many other teams with cracked aimers couldn't even get a chance for a fair fight against them.
@@boootio I agree, but I think in the recent developing VALORANT scene it is way more of an edge to have cracked aimers compared to Optic days. Look at LOUD Champs 2022, EG Champs 2023, even EDG Champs 24. All the common denominators of these teams is an almost full roster of aimers. Since players are all getting better by the years, mechanics are hitting a ceiling and the advantages cancel out. So in this case, it becomes a disadvantage to have a smaller roster of aimers (FNS, Ethan, Som although I will say he is still great). Shutting down execs become futile when you can just shut down players with a click of a button because you are just that good.
@@urbad411 I think you have zero ball knowledge of the other region of Valorant. Look at NRG when they first against T2 APAC teams, they were demolished because the lack of counter strat and got outfragged by APAC players who has quite better firepower. Also PRX has improved themselves, and the off season tournament that they won proved that they're still a good team. NRG's key of success is FNS' call and if he makes a bad call then it would be a bad time for them.
About the mini question you asked about Harbor, yes, I still think Harbor is kind of ass. NRG did get good value out of it here but I don't think this is a consistent thing you can do and it's clear a ton of work was put into making it work. Not to mention the fact that s0m was one of the best harbor players in the world back when harbor was more meta.
People need to realize how strong harbor actually is, alot of people just regurgitate saying hes trash just because a few of their favorite pros said it
Until Frost fix his sh*t, I don't expect Talon would perform well. If they want Primmie to stand out, then they need to make a roster change by bringing Primmie's friends from MiTH to Talon, those players deserve to play in VCT.
Sliggy has Vods of it on his Vod channel. It’s not allowed to be streamed on other sites because Soop is a streaming service so streaming on another platform isn’t allowed but uploading the games is fine
Can someone please explain to me why astra omen together is so meta. it doesn’t make sense to me because why have double dome smokes instead of a sentinel
Tbh take my guess with a grain of salt cause I too am not so sure. But my guess is that the ability to cycle omen one ways constantly makes opponents trying to fight for certain areas use much more utility or take large risks. Furthermore on attack allowing astra to use a majority of her stars for her abilities that aren’t smokes just make sure hits very lethal and in certain maps like abyss a traditional sentinel may not be that highly valued by pro teams
for such a big map like abyss that doesn't really have choke points, or at least not as much as maps like split, bind, ascent etc. double controller will always be meta, one is ofc u want to always be able to smoke for B and A all the time and don't want to worry about being too far. Second because of how open these maps are u really need smokes to cut off areas for yourself whether it be on site or mid. Lastly it's just really damn hard to actually stop a push as a sentinel on abyss, mostly because of Yoru, so teams rather have more retaking capabilities rather than to actually try to fight the execute with sentinel util.
It’s because the smokes are spammed on attack to take space quickly(like the main chokes) which denies info and gives space to attackers. So mostly is use to contest for the main areas of the map.
It’s nice that FNS is playing his last year, hoping he can retire on a high. He would be able to pass the IGL torch to sOm or Ethan and maximise Mada and Verno’s potential and make them great NA players, to pit them against the likes of KangKang and Miniboo. NRG fans will eat next season.
