  • 2022 Cadillac CT5V Blackwing review by The Straight Pipes. The 2022 Cadillac CT5V Blackwing is putting down 668 horsepower and 659 lb-ft of torque from a 6.2L Supercharged V8. At $112,545 USD, would you take it over the BMW M3, BMW M5, Audi RS5, Audi RS7, Mercedes-AMG E63s, Mercedes-AMG C63s or Dodge Charger Hellcat?

Comfortable to cruise in, fantastic manual gearbox, INSTANT power, insane exhaust sound, clean understated look and a very well balanced chassi. The only thing that wasnt a 10/10 was the interior, it is a bit too much "GM feel" with all the plastic, and its a bit of a confusing look mixed with all the carbon fiber, but honestly its not why you buy the car. I imagine they are quite different driving experiences. I've never driven a CT5 but have driven both the CTS VSport and the CT6-V. Both have their merits, but actually aren't that comparable.
The CT6-V is a great car, but you can tell they kind of jammed the 4.2 TT in there because they needed a place to put it. It's a big car with big power, and it drives like it. The CTS, on the other hand, feels a lot smaller than it is from a driver's standpoint. I suspect the CT5 is much closer to the CTS than the CT6 from that perspective.
Neither one is necessarily better than the other... just preference. For my money as a driving enthusiast, I'd prefer the CTS / CT5.

Review AFTER 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP!
I purchased my 2022 CT5 in August 2022. Saying that my experience owning this vehicle has been a nightmare is an understatement. Here are the list of major repairs/replacements I’ve had within 2 years of owning; Engine Head Gasket, Transmission Transfer Case, entire Transmission assembly, front Seat lumbar units, steering wheel boot, interior door trim panels, O2 Sensors, and so on. All of this has been replaced within less than 2 years of owning this vehicle. I had decided to purchase my first ever car from Cadillac as the brand stood for luxury and reliability. I put my hard earned money, and that too quiet a lot of it, towards this car. If I had known what I was in for, I would’ve went for Cadillac’s competition. It’s a shame because the CT5 is a very good looking vehicle and it drives nice. However the amount of Repairs and unreliability overshadows the whole experience. Looks can be deceiving! If you’re in the market for a new luxury vehicle, I’d take a one good look at this vehicle, admire its good looks, maybe even sit in it or take some photos and then proceed to purchase a German or a Japanese competitor brand!

The C-pillars and rear side windows are a hot mess. But since it has a V8 and a manual... can't really complain.

Don't care about a manual transmission but glad it has a v8

I find it looks a lot better in person, and the bright blue of this one doesn’t help. Looks very classy on the road.

It actually looks great to me. Sport back design, c-pillar is one of my favorite design cues of the CT5. Every other sedan in the segment has a boring side profile and it’s nothing to look at. Cadillac will always do what’s right for them and that’s what makes them unique. I love what Cadillac has done on the c-pillar of their higher end cars like this, Lyriq, Escalade, etc.

@@mybro727 I was talking more about the windows than the silhouette. The latter I actually like

I like it actually. Gives it an executive look and makes it a sleeper.

Previous generation CTS-V looks so much better and more aggressive to me. This, especially in this spec, looks kiddie.
