You’re a natural dude! You should make more videos this year. It’s so cool to see how much you and your company have grown over the years. The air fryer is a nice touch 😂. It was also really cool to hear your startup story, mine is very similar. The guidance counselor story is sad. But it’s just more motivation for you. Now you’re making more than him, that’s always the funny part. Keep killing it dude, can’t wait to see what you do in the years to come!
Even though this video came out well over a year ago, I can relate damn near to the T of how your highschool career went. I definitely do not post as much as you do, and I personally watch your videos often. Keep up the great work man! You have the work ethic and mindset most people don’t!
Tom is a honest businessman that takes pride in his work and profession. Would recommend him to anyone for outstanding work at a fair price. Great video, looking forward to more!
Great video. We’re a new subscriber! The part that hit home for me was the balancing school and work. I’m 21 right now and I’m finishing my last year of my university degree. I started my lawn care business the summer I graduated from high school. If I had my time back, I would have committed to my business full time and not went to school. I’m happy to have a degree at my disposal but sometimes I ask myself at what cost. In the past 2 years, I have struggled extremely with managing full time university and a full time thriving business. I’m proud to say that in the next 2 years we will be able to move into a shop like yours! I can’t wait until my school is done because like you, I am passionate about this work. I have to say I’m impressed with where you are at in your business. I know for a fact by looking at your trucks and shop you have a very good work ethic and a good head on your shoulders. I too, have experienced others doubting my ambitions for my business and most often they result to “it’s just a lawn care company”. I remind myself that those are just distractions from the end goal. It’s a slow process in this game. Looking forward to watching you this year!
Love the backstory I’m in high school 15 I started fixing mowers for fun turned that into a profitable hobby made hundreds doing it decided when I was 13-14 I wanted to be a mechanic or a landscape/trades guy I’ve worked incredibly hard and bought my first piece of equipment with my own Kody and that was a bare bones ford 1100 diesel 13 Hp and used it saved up some more and bought a Kubota b1750 20 hp with a soft cab and a blade and the mower deck and been using it for snow removal and the hardscape jobs I use my grandfathers Massey 253 or 1429 I bought my own car shortly after my first hardscape job in September a 2007 chevy Tahoe with just under 200k miles for 800 bucks believe it or no that lady is an absolute blessing I bought it from the single mom I did my first hardscape job for that hardscape job was a shed tear down and pad install and a front bed install and clean up it totaled about to 5-6 thousand if I remember right used that money for the car and the ford then did some kore odd jobs and bought the Kubota my grandfather drives my car with his trailer behind it to get me from Job to job I dart from neighborhood to neighborhood with a farm plate on the tractor allows me to drive the tractor on the road and I plow 15 driveways that brought me to where I am today and I’m super blessed most kids and adults in high school generally laugh or make fun of me it does t bother me because I know I can make it in this business I’m super lucky to have a manufacturing class as my first block and so when I go out plowing I email him he marks me presenting plow snow I park the tractor at my buddy’s house I plow they’re driveway in return for letting me park I walk across the street to school and go in the back door and to class and that’s how I balance it with school
Ive been at this for 32 years the roller coaster never stops your definetly on your way like you said work ethic, passion and i might add a few being efficient with equipment as well as educationing yourself by watching learning and always staying positive and most important a very supportive other half
What's up, Wow you're doing great , Most guys on TH-cam can't grow their business they just Doing it for the money of TH-cam but you're really growing your business. Keep moving forward man .👍👍👍
Awesome man! Started mowing when I was 12. I am 20 now running 5 crews and have almost an identical story. Covid hit my junior year too and it all went uphill from there!
Nice to see someone who actually cares about your employees. That is unheard of here in south Florida, where workers are a dime a dozen and float in daily.
Looking to add second truck. Do you think a regular cab or crew cab looking long term is a better choice? I already have crew cab but would like to get employees into the new truck. However unsure what you suggest. Looks like you have a lot of ext cabs versus full crews.
Did you add truck before or after you had employee to drive it? In addition, was it just selling more work after you got truck or sold the work before you had the equipment to back up
Its a UWS tank/toolbox. I want to say its 100 gal. Second one I've owned and they've been great. The pump is just a 12 volt fill right. 15 gpm. They are very easy to wire in.
Hey man I 20 years old and sarted my construction company last year it’s slow I have a hard time with other companies we line in a small town in Indiana and the closest big city to us is Indy so they costumers call the cheapest possible and there is no money to be made what would u recommend in my situation
Awesome idea especially for tax purposes “separating” the “on & off road costs etc” I’m a 55yr veteran truckie…rule of thumb we fuel our trucks “every night b4 we knock off” main reason was to stop condensation “build up” in our tanks “especially in the winter mths” when tanks are full “it stops that” but with today’s technology the trux come out with water separator’s now but being “old school” I still prefer that old school way PLUS every morning start “no messiness around…can go straight to work…so annually your saving literally “thousands” keep up your “hard work” my Dad taught me…there’s only “one way to make money” WORK hard for it “Good on ya mate!! “GOD BLESS” not that I’m religious lol
@@maggslawnandlandscape7060 Yeah I get that. Black really stands out against everyone else having white but I hate them getting dirty. Also white trucks are much easier to find and purchase.
Hey Tom I’m a lawn care owner here in pa I was just here to ask if you don’t mind telling me what you pay your guys now?im asking this because I don’t know my self how to pay my guys a specific amount idk?and anthor lawn care owner told me to ask other companies in. The industry so yea please try to explain or do a vedio or something if you can????
Certain past employees have back when I was still in high school, however some suppliers and dealers wouldn’t take the phone calls from a teenager. Luckily our current suppliers and dealers see our work, and me and my teams work ethic. At the end of the day that what makes a company thrive.
@Maggs Lawn and Landscape I'm so sorry to hear that. You are an excellent young man and I wish the best for you. I will continue my support to your channel Bro. Look forward to more contact. Tha KS for sharing. What's your name?
Love your work

Congrats you sound and talk like you’re going places
How do you like the carport style shop? How is it to heat?
You have a lot great equipment. Can you do a video on the plan you used to scale your business so fast. Did you use debt?
Planning to do a video on this in the future.
They will still stop at the gas stations and convenient stores...no matter what. It's the way things are
I am a owner I stop at gas stations . Calm Down
nice shop! What are the dimensions for the garage?
Thanks! 30x45
What tool box and fuel set up do you have in your personal truck?
Its a UWS tank/toolbox. I want to say its 100 gal. Second one I've owned and they've been great. The pump is just a 12 volt fill right. 15 gpm. They are very easy to wire in.
Get maywest poly edges for your snow pushers
Looked into them, do you run any?

Planning to have a diesel and gasoline tank installed before spring.

19 or 20 years old owning a business great job but keep it up atta boy
Qhat do you keep privacy blurring out?
How do you like running black trucks?
My only complaint would be that they get dirty so easily! Most people in our area run white trucks so we like to stand out.
@@maggslawnandlandscape7060
Yeah I get that.
Black really stands out against everyone else having white but I hate them getting dirty. Also white trucks are much easier to find and purchase.
Where’s the bronco plow rig
Him: I’ll do our lawn for free until I’m 15
Dad: you’ll pay me back every penny, and you’ll do our lawn for free until I die because your my son lol

The best advice I can give would be to go on job-websites to see what other guys in your area are paying. It differs all across the country.
Do employees, contractors, clients, and vendors try to take advantage of your age?
