I like that you basically do the same editing technique on every picture. Saves so much more time than trying to go through presets to figure which one makes the picture look the best. I need to learn how to soften skin and whiten teeth. Thank you!
This was the most simple but helpful tutorial that actually made sense to me. I’m relatively beginner and took some college nursing grad pictures for a friend and the edit I did on the first one using your tips looks so good! Seriously 10/10 love
Love your videos! Thanks for taking the time! it's very informative! I'm new to photography and got a camera from my husband. I want to learn how to take beautiful pictures of my freshman daughter throughout her HS years!
As long as I have used lightroom, I have never used the custom controls in the adjustment brush like skin softening and iris adjustment -- Thanks, this is very helpful!
I like the softening skin light. All my editing is done on an iPad Air, and I don’t believe it has that slider in my LR but it is great to know that slider exists and will be available when I am able to up grade to a laptop or desk top and to LRC. Thank you both so much for all of your wonder videos, I have learned so much since I came across them a few days ago and I really enjoy how simple and straight forward they are.
Super helpful! Thank you! I will send some before and after photos. I also used a lot of your senior posing tips today, and it helped a ton. Thanks again!
@@esquared.photography one quick question: do you soften skin/whiten teeth on all the initial photos you give to the client, or do you let them pick their favorites first and then only work on those?
@@esquared.photography one last question. (sorry to keep bugging you!) If you are doing the skin softening on all the photos you deliver to the client, about how many senior photos do you give to the client?
Great Tips! Y'all explain things so well. Thank you. New to LrC, and have been doing most of my touchups in PS. Y'alls tips just saved me a ton of time! Thanks again! Update: Went into my LrC and of course my tools are not in the same place y'alls are. I've been running into this a lot with videos out there. I understand Adobe frequently updates, but their updates move things around and it takes time to find what I am looking for...... I think I see my issue, Y'all are using Lr and I am in LrC. I know adobe changed things up, which one do y'all use? Lr or LrC
This tutorial is so helpful I love your edits. I’m a new photographer and editing images isn’t coming as easy for me as you make it look. Just a question do you do anything in tone curve or colour grading?
@@esquared.photography that’s really good to know. Thank you so much. What are your kelvin setting to go for on a cloudy day vs a sunny day? Cause I’m sure that makes a difference or do you then just change it in post with temperature slider?

@@esquared.photography Yes I am using lightroom classic and all I have is the crop, spot heal band aid icon, the red eye correction and the masking icon... i am using lightroom classic 2022 so I don't know if it has changed since you made the video...
@@Tony-bn6sm ahhh!! Yes! So in order to do skin softening you have to hit the masking tool, brush and then you should see the drop down to soften skin.
How do you adjust your settings like the way they are in Lightroom? I can't specifically choose my face when trying to whiten teeth and smooth skin.. Also, do you have suggestions for aperture?
Do you mean how to zoom into the teeth? When you are not clicked on anything and see the hand on your screen, move it on top of the teeth or face and then click and it should full zoom in. If not, I believe it is a setting in the upper left corner that is needing to be changed in your lightroom near the preview picture. As far as aperture goes, check out our video on Photography Tutorial: ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed. We cover it there :) Thanks so much for watching!!
@@esquared.photography I will definitely watch that video, thank you! & as far as the teeth conversation.. I can’t “brush” over a selected area to fix the texture and in this case whiten teeth similar to you .. my settings don’t look the same
I’m curious, why do you not use the tone curve? Your photos look great & im super surprised to see you don’t even touch it! I’ve been trying to get my tone curve exactly how I like it for my general look & it’s super frustrating, so I feel encouraged that you don’t necessarily have to use it.
Thanks for the tutorial! Would this also work for senior pictures that are taken by an iPhone and making them look natural too? I want to save money by not going to a photographer and getting them to look as best as possible by learning how to use Lightroom and Photoshop.
@@esquared.photography I just downloaded a 7-day trial of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. I do not see any settings for skin smoothing or iris enhancing. I am confused because I don’t think I am able to soften skin and change the iris like you’re doing in this video. I am paying for Adobe Lightroom. Help please!

So helpful! I am excited to try Lightroom on my laptop. What is the difference between Adobe CC and Lightroom?

We don’t recommend using them until you fully understand lighting and editing in lightroom. After that, definitely something you could look into.
