- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 26 พ.ค. 2024
- After two years’ hard work, the Greek Spitfire is nearly complete. But will she fly? All hands are on deck to get the project finished on time, with the owners due to pay a visit and veteran George Dunn hoping to see his Spitfire fly again. With so much time and money spent getting it to this point, emotions run high as they prepare for the maiden flight. Meanwhile the boss’s eldest son Alex gets a flying lesson in one of the aircraft that young recruits his age were trained in during the war. And Peter prepares for his next project, as a new two-seater arrives from America.

I saw that plane 30 years ago in a museum when i was i kid. I saw her again last year flying, amazing feeling. A big thank you to everyone involved for the restoration.
as a greek im proud of this video. good job to everyone
My Dad served with 252 Squadron flying Beaufighters in Libya until being shot down and taken PoW. He flew a couple of different Spitfires and loved the way they flew, but preferred the Beau due to its massive firepower. Dad had a really interesting war and was luck enough not only to survive, but flew sixty odd different aircraft in a variety of roles. Fantastic documentary guys so thank you for the production.
Your Father, just like All the other soldiers, The greatest Generation to Walk on this blessed 🙏 world 🌍🌎,a Man of Absolute Truth.A soldier 🪖🎖️ of God.
Honor and Respect from Greece
Having seen the Greek Spitfire in its previous state as a static display in the Athens war museum for decades , i had the pleasure of seeing the rebuilt result in Tatoi airport , where it is currently stationed (Hellenic air force museum)
What an amazing amount of work it took to get to flying state.
Big round of applause to all the engineers involved and to the man who funded the restoration.
The HAF Spitfire was escorted by 2 F-16's while flying into Greek airspace from Corfu to Athens
The Spitfire back in it's natural element. Seeing World War 2 RAF pilot was very moving. Bless everyone involved! Ken from Florida.
brilliant, what a job these people do and a joy to see the original pilot flying next to the Spit.
Have a original pilot and seeing her fly again literately made me cry brought tears to my eyes
Same!
Wow. Such a wonderful story. I really enjoyed seeing this plane fly and listening to George tell his story. I also understand the importance of using an English Made Propeller. Myself being American, I pride myself with American Made products. Thank you for sharing the build.
TOP notch works guys A++ glad George got to see his old plane from 44 again
With one word......
OUTSTANDING
George is a man I would have enjoyed getting to have a nice chat with. I’ve had lots of family who served during WW2 some pilots some airborne rangers others marine and navy as well as knowing many more who served. I’ll say this; those men from that time period were from a different breed. All wonderful people, won’t sugar coat anything and do t really put up with stupidity or laziness.
Very enjoyable documentary for me, being Greek, studying for ATPL, I couldn’t imagine a better video to watch relaxing on the beach from studying.
Μπράβο σας άξιοι μηχανικοί εξαιρετική δουλειά
Simply an amazing series to watch. I would be happy to sweep the floor! Credit to the staff who are restoring these beautiful aircraft . Talk about job satisfaction....Having just returned from the Normandy Landing Beaches, it's fascinating to also hear the interviews with the pilots who flew these aircraft.
Words fail me, a magnificent achievement from all involved-it puts the word ‘Great’ Britain back to a time when everyone pulled together and were experts at what they all did. Pilots had to fly the machines, those on the ground had to build them and the rest had to support them, a brilliant team effort. A very moving video.
Amazing work!!!!
I'm definitely going to do a tour of that factory when I'm in the UK later this year. What a candy store!
Amazing achievement fellas
And this is what they do for a living.... Completely nuts.... There is really lucky people out there...
Excellence Gentlemen…just excellence.
Thank you and be well.
Brilliant and emotional. Well done
Got to admit it was emotional to see the old girl flying, she looks absolutely beautiful! Also to see the young fella taking on his father’s trade is an amazing thing, and something we need more of today. Too many of the old skills are being lost to time now, and we will regret their loss.
What a great thing these guys are doing! If I were a billionaire, I'd have several new ones built just to have these beautiful birds able to fly and others to see them in the air.
How absolutely wonderful!!!!!!
Fan tas tic…tears in my eyes for the brave brilliant boys who fought that evil.
Simply remarkable. Thank you all -
Epic all around. Congratulations to all. Beautiful in all respects. 👏👍
Never seen this thing so close... but in Flight Sim, flying it with open cockpit over hills of Annecy lake in France.
But all this different pieces of stories put together are maybe too much...
Un grand moment . Merci
Respect Greeks
Μπράβο λεβέντες.
IRON MAIDEN - Aces High
There goes the siren that warns of the air raid
Then comes the sound of the guns sending flak
Out for the scramble, we've got to get airborne
Got to get up for the coming attack
Jump in the cockpit and start up the engines
Remove all the wheelblocks, there's no time to waste
Gathering speed as we head down the runway
Got to get airborne before it's too late
Running, scrambling, flying
Rolling, turning, diving, going in again
Running, scrambling, flying
Rolling, turning, diving
Run, live to fly
Fly to live, do or die
Won't you run, live to fly
Fly to live, aces high
Move in to fire at the mainstream of bombers
Let off a sharp burst and then turn away
Roll over, spin 'round to come in behind them
Move to their blindsides and firing again
Bandits at 8 o'clock move in behind us
Ten ME-109's out of the sun
Ascending and turning our spitfires to face them
Heading straight for them, I press down my guns
Rolling, turning, diving
Rolling, turning, diving (doing it again)
Rolling, turning, diving
Rolling, turning, diving
Run, live to fly
Fly to live, do or die
Won't you run, live to fly
Fly to live, ACES HIGH !!!
Honor and Respect to all fallen warriors from Greece !!!
Jolly good job lads! Just a quick question, who are the owners of the Greek Spitfire?
Στην ελληνική πολεμική αεροπορία HAF και το κόστος το ανέλαβε ο πιτερ Λιβανος
It belongs to Hellenic Air Force
Well done
When calculating centre of gravity were self sealing tanks, armour ,weapons heavy and old radio removed . was it different?.,
Epic!
IT LIVES
Safety glasses!!! I didn’t see any. Drilling, grinding, cutting… Other than that, really cool video.
The men and plane that saved the free world .
Emotional seeing the WW2 pilot seeing his plane once again, where it belongs
Bravo
Like bicycles, the correct number of Spitfire's to own is N + 1
Tony kay face close to winston churcill 😂
Nice 👍
The irony of the German prop
With a nice German wing🤔
👍👍👍!!!
Still making MK IX in 45?.
I like my own comment
👍
I thought Spitfires were all British. "Greek," ? Spitfire, what?...and then came, the "North American," P-51 Mustang 😶🤫
f16 is an american jet... many countries have it, so?
It flew with the Hellenic Air Force so it's Greek, your point is?
Challenge? Mostly finding a loose million or so...
