Oh. So sorry to hear that. I had that happen last September in Sequoia. Something bit me on the neck, it swelled up and I had to see a doctor. He ended up putting me on antibiotics. I feel for you, hope you get better!!
Hiked up to twin lakes early spring a few years back and hit snow 2 miles into the trip. Stayed the night on snow with a tent of course. It was one of the best overnight trips.

It's a great spot and not horribly difficult to hike. I've done some overnight trips to George as well.

You do not need a parking pass, but you do need a wilderness permit if you camp overnight.
