People complaining that they cost more than a normal led strip. First off, its around $20 for a foot or 2. This is 6 feet total. Second, you can't take standard led strips and mount them on a wall. It'll look terrible. Beams are meant to be in view. Use rgb strips behind your desk.
@@henriklewis792 Well, the 16ft for $20 typically lacks addressable LEDs and software control. Typically they're limited to rainbow or strobe mode and 5-10 colors by a remote.
I have owned all types of LED strips and By far the LIFX colors, brightness and quality are leaps and bounds above anything out there. I have Phillips strip lights and its a Chevette compared to my LIFX Z strip lights. I have the bulbs and LIFX beam. Nothing comes close to how awesome these lights are period.
Sold! I just ordered three multicolor bulbs, one mini white/amber bulb, two LIFX Beams (which are on sale btw) and one LIFX strip to upgrade my gaming desk. Thanks for the video!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
MSF rapindog you use the home app by apple or life x ,you seem not to have any knowledge oh how light strip works /smart lights etc ,since you are a newbie you should start with sengled hub + bulbs if you have Alexa, google you can add them and control via voice or Alexa app or google home
Just go for the regular amazon ones there is. Nothing special about these except for the fact that it looks normal on a wall but then again you can get a translucent cable hider and put some light strips on there!
While I agree you can get by with Amazon ones. These are SIGNIFICANTLY more bright and vivid. As well as having the lifx app and it's effects. It is overpriced though, no doubt about that
Not only these more color accurate, brighter, and more vivid, they also work with so many smart home platforms - namely HomeKit - and they have the exceptional LIFX app with added effects. This isn’t just a basic light as the Amazon ones are.
AppleInsider true thing but it does kinda look ugly in the open and I’m only gonna be mounting light strips on the back of stuff lol and also I hate using my phone as a remote cos you have to connect it every time
What if it could be set up so that it could somehow show roughly the same colours as what's on your television? Perhaps a tiny security camera watching your screen and a small computer interpreting what it sees into something the light can mimic.
you just should get some good led strips and a cable canal and build them yourself you would get way more length for less than a 100 bucks and building this yourself is really not hard
Can you control individual parts of your light strip? Also a plain rgb strip can only be a singular color. LIFX has an app where as most rgb strips come with the same shit remote that has the color buttons on it that looks terrible.
buddy most of the premium light strips have options to color individual parts of the strip. For the most part you are correct, most light strips have that shitty controller.
I got my 2m adressable led strip for 9$ from govee on prime day. And its so easy to setup and to control. The options are incredible just for 9 bucks.(now its 15-19 i think)
@@buddy4235 I said an ARGB light strip. Yes, that means an addressable light strip, meaning you can control each light on the strip and make them each different colors, or even animated.
too pricey to just place behind a desk. I like the fact that they can get very bright. besides that, cheap led and little imagination can get the same rgb effects.
I made one using an arduino and an addressable LED strip. it's 182+ LED, more than 2,5m long and the best part : it cost me a dozen bucks. OK the product shown in this review is probably nice looking, but this it is a joke when you know arduino and fastled. And I bet the price in just indecent.
I’m just in aw that this dude buys the beams and just sticks them behind some shit. Imagine buying nanoleafs and then sticking them under your bed... thorough review just really couldn’t see shit homie
200,00€ for this or 200,00€ for 9pcs or 300,00€ for 15pcs Nanoleaf, is just for jerks and show off guys. This is not a reasonable price for LED Made in China products.
I just cannot get my LiFX beam to work with my wifi network. It’s an absolute travesty. There’s nothing comparable on the market. I have dozens of smart devices working successfully on this network, but the beam doesn’t want to play ball.
Because we liked the product? we had several issues which we outlined - the colors of white from the Home app, the fickle magnetic ends, and the inability to set multiple colors from the Home app - but otherwise was good. Is there something here you disagreed with? What is the difference between a “review” and a “commercial”?
AppleInsider The issue is that you compare it to an led strip which you can get for $30 while these are $150. That is a huge price difference, if putting behind something for accent lighting these are so not worth the cost.
If you're going to place them behind a desk I would just use a light strip, but these look beautiful in a wall in the open
The whole point of the beam is to have it in view. Use rgb strips if you’re going to put it behind a desk or dresser

I completely agree except, rgb strips are not $20 for one foot they have options for great rgb strips for 16 ft at $25

120 ya I will stick to my 15 dollar led strip
lol
It’s $110 by the way (if on sale)
$150(regular ly)

Can you add another set and keep the bar going ?
yeah don't mention how the color difussion on it is totally off. the middle leds of each section has a different tint compared ti the ends of it.
Which camera did you use to shoot this video? Great vid btw.
Can these be daisy chained?
Imma buy some more corner pieces and have myself a swasticka
I have one and I placed it exactly the same way around the door. It looks great but it’s very unreliable.
Elaborate please, thanks.
Kevin Valdivieso It stops responding through HomeKit. It’s a hit or miss whenever I ask Siri to control this device.
I swear companies make a really cool product but it’s to expensive for anyone to buy
I know it's been a year since you commented this, but for 6 of these beams on amazon, it is 120USD. Also each beam is 1ft long.
LIFX strips destroys every other strips but I’m went with the govee beam for Christmas instead it’s much cheaper and really competes with this beam.
Looks good, I've personally had issues with the command strips falling off a day,a week or a year just for lightweight pictures.
Wipe the surface down with water/alcohol solution prior to application.
I like how it connects by magnets
Imagine a house with these lining all the doors and with all different nanoleaf triangle and square panels all over.
The things people will buy. This is one of those things where I'm like why didn't I think of that.
Great review
Can you download an app on a iPhone to control the lights, and if so, what app is it? Great video btw

I’m looking for something to use for my stairs and I’m debating these and the LIFX Strip Andy thoughts?

@Daryl Antony I'm not sure about last year though
Time to make my sister jealous
If you are going to put it under a table, it would be better to invest in the strips!?
Love the brick background.
Dinky198110 it’s fake
Can you tell me the name of the app can make the effects in the strip, please, thx
That is just the LIFX app!
This is a very unique HomeKit accessory. Great for decorating with light!

Lmfao.... they took an argb strip, wrapped it in plastic and gave it a 1000% markup?

Is this thing really 400 dollars for a 4 foot beam
name of this case please?
is there a splitter for the lifx strips?
Keep up with these reviews for HomeKit 👍🏻
Terrible reviews and controller problems on these dawg!
Would I be able to connect it to my google home mini???
yes
anything with google assistant would work, so all google homes, and most android devices.
Expensive bro
Nice vid andrew.. 👍
great review....price is a bit much....
Kevin Skowronek ehhh 150 isnt that bad. better than spending $40 per light bulb

I’d rather sacrifice HomeKit to get this same thing for like $10

Once you install this kit to your network you can't use it anywhere else. petty disappointed for the amount of money I paid for it.
You can hard reset it to get rid of all network settings so that you can connect to a new phone or new wifi.
I wouldnt reccomend buying this. I spent 2 whole days just trying to connect it to their godawful app.
