Another thing to keep in mind. The max range of the laser cannon is 200m. So if you ping something and its under 200m you can take it out from a very safe distance.
Take for instance motar strikes that's 125m, other turrets are 75m (except canon), Shrieker spawns at 130m. Basically you want the sweet spot of 150m so nothing can spawn nor can u get hit by friendly fire to snipe things.
That works out great. I rarely see anything worth shooting at that far away. Either terrain, planet effects for reduced visibility, or not wanting to draw aggro.
My no.1 piece of advice: learn to hipfire the Laser Cannon at every range. It's a perfectly steady beam, and the FPS zoom (while nice) is only really beneficial at longer ranges. This also offsets the fact the FPS view takes up half your screen too. The LC can clutch well in close combat because of its perfect hipfire accuracy, provided you keep an ear out for when it's going to overheat and keep your cool under pressure
Apparently you can shoot the engine block of tanks with medium armor penetrating weapons, so that might be the better option for those snappy galvanized laser tanks, personally I use the jump pack and launch over tanks to get behind them and start blasting. Love the video, love the laser cannon against bots, it's been my go-to ever since I used it and finally it's getting the appreciation it deserves. As for my loadout I like to run: -Scythe: More accurate than the laser cannon and deals with the fodder enemies that bit quicker, excellent sniping weapon and can give covering fire very well -Redeemer: Covers berserkers and anything else that gets too close for comfort -Impact grenades: Getting used to them but they deal with striders and groups very well -Savior of the Free armor set: Democracy protects is plot armor and has made me invincible in a number of impossible situations Stratagems -Laser cannon: Deals with all automaton units due to medium armor penetration, excels at dealing with emplacements and tanks -Jump Pack: Increased movement, can get you out of bad spots, jump over tanks, get to high spots for good vantage, fun -Walking Barrage: Bombards in increments, great for advancements into bases and other objectives and can destroy detection towers, great orbital for taking AA emplacements -Eagle Airstrike: The versatile strat that you can't fault, deals with everything, clears fabricators/patrols/objectives and elite units

I throw down my sentry and put my bubble on it, then i move away to an off-angle so the bots split their fire power between me standing with shield up, and shooting my bubble. Or if I find cover i'll use the laser cannon and jiggle-peak around the corner
Glad to see this monster of a weapon getting the recognition it deserves (post patch) also don't be deterred when choosing it against bugs, I run it with the jumppack on 7, 8 and sometimes 9 and it is still fantastic, shreds hive guard through their armour, brood commanders only a few seconds, can kill a charger in 4-8 seconds when concentrating on its rear (works amazing with stun grenades) can struggle with hunters up close so recommend pairing with your small bug killer of choice (sickle for me) oh and can kill Bile titans when their armour is exposed
Glad you made this! I've been running the laser cannon against bots since they buffed it. It's a must have for me against them (unless it's a hot planet). I always bring the shield pack with it too. I run the scorcher with it to deal with striders. Also the 500kg bomb and orbital rail cannon for flexibility in dealing with everything. Orbital rail is great for killing a tank or turret you can't get the right angle on. If I want better horde control or better fabricator destruction I swap out 500kg for Airstrike.
If you shoot the tracks of the tanks you can immobilize them and make it easier to flank them. Additionally if you hit the legs of the devastators they'll die once both legs are down.
I want to love the laser cannon. The thing this video is really showing me, though, is that positioning is more important. All these shots are against glued-to-the-floor enemies where almost any gun can hit head shots. This video has been illuminating and instructive, but I would like a little more to be convinced.
Eagle airstrike for fabricators, orbital laser for command bunkers, detector towers and anything really. Shield relay for time to line up shots on hulk faces and also it's just superior to the personal shield in every way. Laser cannon, for everything, but especially for gunships, better than almost everything else at it.
Sure does and pairs well with the Laser Cannon that can reach across the map and can be used infinitely if managed properly. Especially on the current planet that is cold environment.

I remember when the laser cannon would take out a flying dropship in about 2 seconds to the engines, which was a major reason why I switched to it from the quazar cannon. Ironically enough, the quazar cannon can still get rid of dropships very effectively, but the laser cannon cant. I still use it though after I discovered everything else it can do just by bringing it to missions. Oddly enough, it can still take out the gunships that shoot you during certain side objectives, but not the dropships🤔
I run the shield, laser cannon, and my personal fav Plas-1 Scorcher - The scorcher eviscerates the striders and most of the other enemies the cannon might struggle with.
I've been using the javelin recently, forgot the in game name. This smashes those turrets, fabricators , and motars from far far away. This opens up my eagle slot to have much more anti army since I can destroy heavy bases solo from afar now.
Laser cannon is the best for automatons...if your aim is dope. Everytime I use LC during robot runs I feel like I'm just tickling them, so it seems I gotta work on my headshot aim lol Great video as always man!
Running EATs into bots to deliver sweet competence to rocket devastators is the best flavor of justice. Being able to shoot down 2 consecutive drop ships is also a major selling point. If there’s stratagem fuckery in the mission/environment modifiers, laser or auto cannon are also certified bangers.
Anti material rifle is a two hit kill on any of the larger bits of you hit the red spot on the head. Including the hulk. Also you can hit them from so far away they never get close enough to shoot you.

It's fuckin garbage my boy. Being in a video doesn't always mean it's true. Playing on the highest levels I'd rather chew nails. In those situations where you have hordes on your ass this gun hits like a toothpick and will get your swarmed.
@@emufarm29 the quasar cannon has been able to one shot the shield devastators about 85 percent of the time for me but it’s ability to shut down bug holes, bot buildings, and bot drop ships in one shot if placed properly and I’ve had it one shot hulks constantly if near the head or just near center mass on its front side makes it one of the best options for solo play due to it not needed a backpack to use and being able to fire about every 6-8 seconds depending on the planets temperature tho I haven’t tested these numbers thoroughly

Being able to destroy outposts and hit dropships is a definite advantage over the laser but I did get wrecked by a rocket devastator earlier waiting for it to charge up, when the laser would've had it smoking on the ground already. I'll have to try it a bit more with the shield guys, I keep hitting em right in the shield and it just knocks em back a second. I do like it a lot though.
my new fun build is LC with Plaz Shotty, incendiary grenades, rover, and AC sentry. it puts in work at every level vs every enemy and ammo is so much less an issue

I dont know about the cannon tank, but you can shoot the laster tank in the rear of the main body to take it down. Edit: looking at the cannon tank, i think you can shoot the rear part of its main body too.

is it just me or does the laser cannon seem like it ramps up damage the longer you hit a target, like the automatons face heats up but if you stop firing you have to reheat it some, if that makes any sense.
Most slept on support weapon and in my opinion probably the overall best one. I dont think anythings quite as versatile, it really can handle anything you run into. Im loving the quasar cannon but the wind up time makes it shit against rocket devastators or even shield devastators. Laser melts their face instantly.
Crouching will always be a huge help for accuracy, but best bet is to aim with first person view. The sight is jarring at first, but once you get use to it you'll be melting them in no time. Beyond that practice with 3rd or first person in lower difficulties to get a feel for all the enemies can be a huge help, until they hopefully add in a shooting range to practice in.
Striders and bersekers seem to be the lite counter to the laser cannon, luckily the scorcher trivializes the striders and the shotguns can deal with the berserkers.
The description of hot and cold planets is wrong, the heat buildup is the same on any planet hot or cold, the things that is changed is how fast the gun cools down so even in hot planets u can ahoot as much as on cold planets but after u stop shooting ur gonna need to wait more for the gun to cool down on hot planets and less on cold ones
Also remember everyone, no need to go and play on difficulty 8/9 Difficulty 7 and below is just fine. We didn’t get any higher percentage for liberation.
While i do agree with people loving the auto cannon, its more of your personal tastes as many dont like it because of the backpack slot being taken up(dispite being a massive ammo pack for it)

taking down dropships doesn't even do anything. At best you get a few enemies bugged, floating in the air unable to move. But nothing dies, they still land and continue like nothing happened

New Gunships only need 2 secs from Laser Cannons. Brings it up to an A-Tier Support Weapon now IMO.

I learned the same thing for the autocannon. It's just much easier to handle it in 3rd person. The scopes on AC, LC and Quasar are just awful.

Another thing to point out about the tanks. Use the laser to take out the treads. It wont be able to move after that and you can just leave it behind.

Autocannon is still my choice against Automatons.
I want to like it more, but I find it very inaccurate at times unless I’m prone.

100% Sickle + Laser Cannon is my main combo for bugs 👍 i love the up time you can achieve by always swapping between them

When I first used it, I didn’t play cover well and struggled but when I realised what I was doing, it became my main weapon for the bots. Love it.

I think you can shoot the barrels of the quad laser tank with laser cannon and it will deal damage. Course you're staring down the barrels to do that.

taking down dropships doesn't even do anything. At best you get a few enemies bugged, floating in the air unable to move. But nothing dies, they still land and continue like nothing happened
Aiming for the belly of the drop ship before the bots drop will take the bots out.

it safes me EVERY SINGLE TIME!
I did that as a last resort yesterday and it actually worked, gonna try it in different scenarios to see if it’s 100% viable today

i prefer the quasar/shield backpack combo over the autocannon. i dont like wasting my shield slot.
And I don't like wasting my orbital/eagle slot on a backpack xD

No its not. Autocannon is MUCH better.
Autocannon doesn't have infinite ammo and wastes your backpack slot. It's not better, they are just different.
