Here we discuss buying a sur ron (or any ebike) on alibaba and how to identify scams. Most of the time I would avoid alibaba and buy directly from the company to avoid being scammed.

Claiming fake is so dumb. The engineering that it’ll to take to fake a surron, you won’t make a fake you’ll make a competitor. It’s too expensive of a bike manufacture.
That reply email you got was them saying “we aren’t going to tell you if it is authentic, just buy from us” said in a nice and professional way.
They have to do that actually so the Company 'Surron' doesn't sue them.

He could have actually chosen a shady seller. It's funny because double spring is literally the go-to, the most recommended alibaba seller on most forums.
While this video contains SOME useful infomation the title seems misleading or inaccurate. I'd consider giving a thumbs up for the content IF the title matched the content. It would also be useful if this video included even a single example of results from someone in the US who bought a surron on Ali, particularly the seller you have identified as a scammer with no evidence that they are a scammer.
He didn't say they were scammers, just that they're not authorized sellers in the US definition of it. The bikes appear to be authentic according to people that have ordered and received it from this supplier.

This official network of distributors or partners are only a thing in the US. Yes that’s the only way they can warranty bikes in the US, or provide replacement parts.
The manufacturing warehouses down there all do deals with eachother, they trade and sell at cost. It doesn’t mean they are scammers, it also doesn’t mean this is a knock off. It usually means one warehouse manufactures the motors, the other the frame, yet another may be the brakes or bearings, they can all trade parts for full units to sell.

I am all for being skeptical of a deal too good to be true, but far as I can tell most of the sur rons I have seen listed on Alibaba have passed the sniff test.
Yeah $500 for a surron seems super legit right? If you can’t find ridiculously obvious scams all over Ali baba for surrons then your just not looking
The transformer is because the bike sold on Alibaba are not meant for the US market. They come with 240 volt chargers. The transformer steps it down to 120V. So yeah the Chinese person meant transformer when they said transformer.

Trade assurance is useless makes no difference nothing like eBay or PayPal trusts me I’ve lost out twice £500 the one time £5000 the next and I sent all evidence all the bikes I bought were has over spray of the wrong colour in areas and then we’re still too coated apparently this was down to shipping 😵💫🤯 how you get black overspray on yellow and blue bikes from shipping is amazing so Alibaba saw favour in the seller the seller blocked me i was and still am tempted to do a full review on TH-cam about it with all evidence. Saying this I have also some good suppliers but you need to be so careful

I have 2 surrons.. one from Luna, and one from another dealer, seems like a lot of dealers have popped up this last year. The serial numbers look alot different.

Yes but Luna cycle is upset from taking away from the profits and I did use trade assurance was a great experience. Oh well but that is there problem. You get the transformer and Sur-Ron charger. I got great price on ultra and lite bee. Not just a couple dollars off. I really like your videos I find them very informative.

Literally the seller in the video. Double spring is the most recommended alibaba seller for surrons and talarias on all the forums, which made the video kind of funny; he could have at least picked a shady seller instead of going after the #1 seller, lol.

As far as warrenty goes ..MEH ...i void warranty in about 2 weeks when i decide to upgrade something ....of course ....warranty to me aint worth trash ....buy and replace parts ..
May not be the appropriate video to ask, I have been thinking and really wanting to get an ebike for quite some time now... I was thinking of getting the Ariel Rider Keplver 52v as it seems good for my budget ($2k or less), I'm hoping for an opinion, would it be better to learn and get something custom? (if so where would be a good place to start looking to learn) Also, is it appropriate to buy an ebike in the winter or should I wait till it gets warmer? Thank you if you do reply, perfectly okay if you don't I mean I feel like some people would want payment for knowledge. :)
I can't see why it wouldn't be appropriate buying a e bike in winter. Just make sure you have the right clothing especially for your ears! And the tyres are in good shape
@@ItaintmeCCC Thanks for replying, I was only assuming it may be bad for the battery or if there is bad weather proofing but nonetheless its a bike so i'd assume it would be proofed. And ear protection sounds like a good idea for the cold especially that I live in Wisconsin, think i'd own something for my ears by now.

@@foxtrotjeff Information below is from the site called "battery university". In short, you will experience performance issues and in rare cases a short that might cause a helluva fire.
The performance of all batteries drops drastically at low temperatures; however, the elevated internal resistance will cause some warming effect by efficiency loss caused by voltage drop when applying a load current. At -20°C (-4°F) most batteries are at about 50 percent performance level. Although NiCd can go down to -40°C (-40°F), the permissible discharge is only 0.2C (5-hour rate). Specialty Li-ion can operate to a temperature of -40°C but only at a reduced discharge rate; charging at this temperature is out of the question. With lead acid there is the danger of the electrolyte freezing, which can crack the enclosure. Lead acid freezes quicker with a low charge when the specific gravity is more like water than when fully charged.
Matched cells with identical capacities play an important role when discharging at low temperature and under heavy load. Since the cells in a battery pack can never be perfectly matched, a negative voltage potential can occur across a weaker cell in a multi-cell pack if the discharge is allowed to continue beyond a safe cut-off point. Known as cell reversal, the weak cell gets stressed to the point of developing a permanent electrical short. The larger the cell-count, the greater is the likelihood of cell-reversal under load. Over-discharge at a low temperature and heavy load is a large contributor to battery failure of cordless power tools.
I have seen a lot of these surrons going for under £1000 gbp and I wanted to buy one but after seeing this video I am now in two minds about it

Before you crap on this too much, I just ordered a Surron Storm Bee from Alibaba because my dealer (150 miles away), had absolutely no clue about the product at all, no idea it had a street tire option available, while the Alibaba rep gave me both options at the same price and knew exactly what I was referring to. I have no problem with paying and shopping local IF there is a value add, in this case, clueless...

@@LifeAsLalo I ordered from "Changzhou Double Spring Machinery Co., Ltd.", it took 12 weeks from order to delivery @ my door but I would do it again, $5,649 including shipping (Ultra Bee with street tires (90/90-19 front & 120/80-18 rear), the "R" version is what I believe Surron calls it)...
I also got the USA charger direct from Surron (on their web site, $300)...
Some of the ads on there only charge around 1000$ which can't be true

I'm using an ebike from Alibaba. Today is year 3 riding it with no issues. You had a bad experience and probably bought from a crooked seller and bad manufacturer

i bought a surron x from china for 3000$ + 200$ shipping so i saved about 1600$ for upgrades so total worth it ( also need a 220v to 120v converter )

sorry for the late reply, the problems is that I came here from China so I have Id there and you need a Id to register a account on Taobao ( unless you know someone with it ) and a surron x is going about 21000 chinese yuan which are ~ 3100$ ish@@Dabby724

Please give us an update mate I’m looking at one that cost $1166AUD but am skeptical and looking at the refund policy on aliexpress in the case that I get scammed
I haven’t got it yet. I’ve had plenty of communication saying that it’s arrived in the country and it’s held up in customs because it’s over $1000 US so these duty to pay and I haven’t heard from customs New Zealand about the duty or the arrival of the bike, so I’m assuming it’s all about scam but cording to the tracking app it says it’s going to be delivered tomorrow. I’ll put it updated by actually get it.

For the people that don't know why the prices are cheaper for the same spec bike.....
1. China does not have the same overhead on just the buildings they operate from. The cost to lease a building and set up an ebike business is going to be 3x more in just about any country. Lets say the warehouse is in California,
How much would a manufacturer need to raise the price on a bike to cover the cost of an 9000sq ft building? ($50K a month lease )
2. Employees! How many people do you think work at an ebike company? Do you think they get paid the same amount as Chinese sellers?
Again how much of a mark up is needed to cover employee wages?
3. Insurance
4. Licensing
5. Utilities
I can keep going but im sure simple math can guide you on why its cheaper to buy direct from the manufacturer warehouse.

My problem is the corruption of our government to the point that there are unlimited jobs in China and hardly anything in America as far as manufacturing. In my area there are manufacturing companies that pay their employees the minimum wage here in NY but retail stores at full time pay $5 to $10 an hour more. That's an issue! They sold us out folks ..our own federal government

You should do your research before posting your video, the supplier you called out is a surron manufacturer just like the iPhone there are many companies that supply parts for surron giving them the right to sell the product as well. You are right about a gold and verified supplier the scammer surrons are cheaper than 3500 that’s the factory cost Luna cycle wouldn’t sell at cost that’s why you see a retail price of 4300

Yo the company you are showing sell surrons that are legit you should look into it before you say things Luna cycles does have the market and contract for the Talarias in US. But this company and the parent company can sell surrons they also sell in China also. But there a few that are legit like the one you mentioned so you are making it up for views and don’t know . If you look into what you’re doing a Alibaba you do not get ripped off. Of course you should really look into the company and the products and do video chats etc. but what you’re saying is incorrect you’re acting like Eddie E bike you mine Alibaba is not new one.
