Great info! But a note on masking: Sometimes the masking adhesive can adversely impact the finish--low tack tape or film minimizes this. Best to always test any new tape of leather!
Helpful video! Have you ever tried wetting the leather instead of masking? I do that regularly when I use a trotec laser, but I'm wondering the result with a glowforge. My experience is that wetting reduces char, and I truly believe it helps get a more consistent cut.
I want to make keychains somewhat similar to what you are doing, but I don't want to do stitching. What kind of glue would I use to make a permanent durable edge that won't separate? I've heard contact cement? If that is the case, what brands do you recommend?
You certainly could if using the xTool P2 with a riser base. You would also need a fixture to hold the surface to be engraved very flat. Otherwise, the variation in surface height would ruin the purse.
Hi Jo, from what I managed to hear, some good advice and tips unfortunately the “please hold the line/ lift muzak”, drowned out your dulcet voice. Sorry for being a moaning old sod.🤗
Thank you for sharing the speed and power settings!
Any time 👍

What an excellent video. well done and thankyou for sharing it with us.
Glad you like it 🙂
Do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of the burnt smell with cut/engraved leather? Thank you

No I haven't tried that, mostly because I don't want to wait for it to dry 😂
@@JHLeather I’d rather wait for it to dry than pick the masking tape off. 😂
If you can take it all off at once, Gorilla tape works great!
Can you list out the recommended products that you mentioned?

Hi Jo, hope you are well! would love to see you make a video making a knife sheath. all the best!
I have an axe one but will add that to my list 👍
@@JHLeather that's awesome! I've recently gotten into knife making. Maybe I can make one for you and send it to you so you can make a sheath for it.
Thank you
Great video, thanks👌👌
Thank you 🙂

Thank you 🙂
Could you [or better yet] would you recommend a laser cutter for fabric samples swatches for a small business?
I have 3-3.5mm leather, what wattage cutter would I need?
I have used the Glowforge pro on 3.5-4 mm bridle butt and it worked fine 👍
@@JHLeatherwhat laser settings for the glow forge did you use for this thickness? Thanks, great video!
Am I able to laser a already make purse using a machine ?
