3:15 using anti bacterial soap was such a great tip! For the past few weeks I had been noticing a slightly B.O. in my armpits, which I didn't use to notice before. After watching this, I bought an anti-bacterial soap, used it one or two days, and now I no longer smell it. Many thanks!
@@jonathansamaroo5777 good question. I'm not sure (hopefully not), but considering I've only used the soap 1-2 and it seems to have sufficed for now, I think it'll probably be fine.
@@liloruf2838 there definitely is a correlation; whether there's any causation or not (in which case it was just a coincidence that I stopped noticing any odor right after using anti bacterial soap) we can't be 100% sure.
ABCC11 gene is related to earwax as well. Earwax type is determined by a variation in the ABCC11 gene which has alleles - T and C (or A and G). People with the T variant have dry earwax while people with the C variant have wet earwax. This gene also encodes the proteins that transports sweat out of pores in our armpits, and attracts the bacteria that cause axillary odor. People with dry earwax don't produce the protein, so they don't make the apocrine underarm sweat. Funny enough, I have wet earwax associated with odor, or mix of wet and sometimes dry, but I have no odor (I do not use deodorant and do not smell under my arms) However, I have both alleles. I inherited CT. So I inherited the T variant as far as sweating without odor, and the C variant of wet earwax. My father did not have underarm smell.
I used to smell but quarantine happen and i dont use deodorant while quarantine (obviously, like im in home + im a college student at the time), funnily enough my armpit barely smell after that, i mean i do sometimes smell but...its kinda rare and its kinda faint lol, its like somehow my gene suddenly changing lmao. No more deodorant 😌
I was waiting for them to talk about hyperhidrosis, but none. Kinda dissapointed. I hope maybe next round of this session can talk about this excessive sweating. As someone with this condition for 20+ years, I hope people have some knowledge and awareness about hyperhidrosis and how it affects our daily life.
I noticed every since I went through puberty I've had excessive sweating... Shaving doesn't help nor using anti perspirant pit sticks. I have to switch my shirt after I get to my destination just because I've already burnt through it.
I'm happy to hear them say it's ok to shower everyday. Some people claim dermatologists say showering everyday creates dry skin;that's their excuse for not showering daily.
No, this is a true story. I have very dry skin and was extremely itchy during winter, not mention developed really bad dandruff suddenly. Went to dermatologist and was told to stop showering daily and instead shower every couple of days. I started showering every other day and washing up in between. Now I am back to showering everyday cause I just feel clean when I shower every day. My skin is still dry, but I have made sure to drink more water and adding a heavier body oil underneath my normal moisturizer. For the most part I was able to the itching.
@@rhinoWL That is not why. It happens when you don't dry your body or hands alone correctly, with leftover water that can dry your skin, also change your soaps, or body wash can help with dry skin during the winter. I have sensitive skin, and I have found that soaps with coconut oils, aloe vera extract, or/and hemp oils can help with dry sensitive skin.
Fun fact: If you are going to Korea and have armpit stink, make sure you bring your deodorant. The percentage of people who lack the stink gene is higher, thus places selling deodorant are fewer and the variety is greatly reduced.
As a Filipino who as lived in North America and has returned to the Philippines, I can tell you that smells can make you feel you're at home. Unlike in the Philippines where most houses are open-air, homes in North America are mostly closed and anything that you cook will stick to the house. I've visited my other Asian friend's houses and their homes smell like the food that they ate, in a good way. I find that the houses of other Pinoys tend to smell like cooked onions and garlic, which to me, smells like home. On body odor, I find that hygiene plays a big role in all of this. Those that rarely changed their clothes, bathed poorly and did not use deodorant smelled bad compared to those that had better habits. As someone who lives in a tropical country, I find it horrific not to bathe daily, and I've bathed in the dead of winter and I'd rather feel cold than to have that icky feeling.
Actually sometimes it might be also that the deodorant is bad, cause years ago I smelled very bad after 30 minutes I showered, and of course I would wear clean clothes, when I found a good deodorant I stopped having that problem. Some deodorants are really useless.
It's the flight or fight response of your body. Being nervous means being anxious. And that's part of the evoution. Blame your ancestors, that they chose flight over fight. Or thank them. Otherwise you wouldn't exist. If you want to stop beeing anxious or nervous, try a psychotherapy. But be aware that this reaction is basicly something good.
Male, European decent. I eliminate wheat products from my diet and my body odor was eliminated to include foot odor. Ear wax is greatly reduced too. Don’t even require deodorant. If I consume wheat products the odor comes back.
Taking a shower daily and washing with an antibacterial soap along with the right anit-perspirant deodorant definitely works. And having a balanced meal since some foods producers unique smells does work. If you've been doing this all (even almost) all your life, congratulations you're on the right track!
I use to smell a lot when i sweat.. even a thing like going up and down the stairs a couple of times would make me sweat slightly and smell bad.. i remember running into the shower so frequently.. I've been exercising since 8 months.. I've reduced from 125 kgs to 97 kgs now i workout a lot and sweat like crazy.. surprisingly i don't smell at all.. it's mainly bcoz I'm eating healthy.. atleast that's what i think it is.. Also i see the darkness in my underarms and around my neck are gone like 90%.. I'm so happy about my life right now.. This video was so informative.. thank you 😊
My girlfriend is the first person I have ever met that doesn't have a smell under her armpits. I was so amazed by this and now watching video of the explanation is really cool!
I'm a 50 something woman. On both estradiol and testosterone hormone replacement therapy. The estrogen is neutral, but the testosterone induced a completely different underarm scent than I've had previously. Hormones have some amazing chemistry.
When I was put on birth control for hormone balancing after a couple of months I started smelling really bad! Pits and groin. I'd scrub in the shower and upon coming out would realize that I still absolutely stink! So I'd get back in and wash again..and then still be smelly. Hormones do some crazy things with smells..
Ive always had BO issues ever since puberty but when I was on birth control pills my BO went away. Too bad the other side effects were too much for me to continue to take hormonal birth control even after trying a few different ones.
Showering every day may be ok. But it's not necessary. Even if you stink. You can wash just certain areas. Showering every day is bad for the environment and you don't need it. You can shower every other day or every 3 days or maybe longer. It depends on your body.
It would appear that regular soap naturally kills bacteria. Just look up any video on what soap does to single-celled organisms. So, buying antibacterial soap shouldn't be better than regular soap. In fact, just doing a quick search, I've found some things that suggest that the chemicals used in antibacterial soap could be actually harmful in some respects, but I digress.
Antibacterial soaps leave a small amount of chemicals that keep killing bacteria, while ordinary soaps only kill bacteria when you shower. The air is dirty, it has literally hundreds to thousands (if not more) microbes per cubic centimeter. If some fell on your body, they will thrive without that antibacterial chemical left over from your antibacterial soap.
I've read the same info regarding the very real risks of anti-bacterial soap. Triclosan is an ingredient I avoid. We use only regular bar soap (and non anti-bacterial dish washing liquid).
The best way is to use both a soap and a body wash. First use soap in the skin folds(pits, booty, genitals) Rinse. and than take a CLEAN washcloth and apply body wash and scrub your entire body. Soap is very basic so it can disrupt temporarily the skin mantle which is around 5pH. Body wash has adjusted ph usually from 5.5 so it doesn't disrupts the skin mantle at least not as much. I've recommend this to many people 90% are extremely satisfied including myself. The rest of them complained that it dries out their skin way too much.
Awesome series of vids! Not only educational but also has so much diversity! Keep up the good work. Oh. I already knew it was bacteria that smelled . . . Other things, some I knew and other things I didn't!
Her explanation actually doesn't debunk that myth. First she says that correlation doesnt necessarily means causation. Which is true. Then she says that science havnt proved that aluminum causes cancer. But she still admits that they often see aluminum deposits in women with breast cancer. So while science havnt proved it to cause cancer, it on the other hand havnt disproved it. So a good thumb rule is, to use the cautionary principle, when ever there is a doubt about something causing cancer or not. So for me i would still rather avoid anti-perspirants, and only use anti-bacterial deodorants. And by the way, about those anti-bacterial deodorants, which have aluminum in them, the difference from anti-perspirants is, that that aluminum-molecules that are inside the anti-bacterial deodorants are to large to penetrate the skin, so they just sit as a layer on top of the skin, whereas the aluminum-molecules of the anti-perspirants are so small that they penetrate the skin and clog the pores, which is why they are so effective.
Didn’t exactly debunk it, tho. Looks like this day & age, we’d be able say, with all certainty, that it either does or does not. There has to be some very powerful pushback stopping them.
@@brettbarager9101 It’s an example of social conditioning. I kept waiting for the under arm odor and it never happened. Most people find it difficult to believe until they take a close sniff 😹 The same gene, ABCC11, is also related to the type of ear wax you have. When you have the lack of odor you also have a dry, flaky ear wax instead of sticky.
I agree with everything in this video except ONE thing..... the absence of specified research data may not link causation, but it doesn't DISPROVE it either. Since there is already scientific research data out there that does prove excessive metals in the bloodstream are connected to certain illnesses, it's better to be safe than sorry. however, the whole detox thing was INCREDIBLY important to bring attention to. I have a business in health and wellness, and only very few people including myself point out that when you do "cleanses", your only helping your liver and kidneys do the actual detoxing. Meaning, your strengthening your organs and immune system to do the detoxing, you're not doing the actual detoxing yourself. eating a healthy balanced diet, even if you go so far as to be plant based, does not CURE anything. the purpose of consuming more plants is to help the organs, immune system and blood do their most optimum job that they were created for. we have to help our bodies help ourselves, but we also need to be REALISTIC ! overall I enjoyed this video and will continue to enjoy videos like these !
@@nasiampadeka4606there's no such thing as data to disprove something. Do I need data to disprove that fish can use telekinesis to levitate rocks? If there is no reason to conclude that is the case, then it is not the case. Researchers don't make studies to prove that something does not exist. They try to prove that something does exist, in this case aluminum causing cancer, and if they can't find anything proving that then they assume it doesn't exist.
@@boxlad7583 In science you can't just assume there is something or there is not. There should be some tests around it. You mentioned telekinesis, quite exaggerating but I'll do the same. At first they never thought the ash or the rainclouds from Chernobyl are going to cause problems for all the world or anything. They had to research to find out it exists and it causes harm. The white powder they used in middle ages to whiten their faces also was poisonous but didn't know since the beginning. When something is used as often as aluminium is today, I think there should be research to prove it if harmful or not and be 100% sure about it
@@nasiampadeka4606 You just said what I said. They had data to prove it DOES exist. You guys saying that there is no data to DISPROVE something would be like the scientists finding no evidence that the Chernobyl clouds were harmful, yet still claiming that they are because they found no evidence that it is not true. I'm not saying that aluminum is 100% safe, I'm just saying that there needs to be data proving that it is harmful, not data DISPROVING that it is safe. You cannot disprove the existence of something with research.
Why do I still sweat (in the underarms) when it's cold outside and I'm not doing anything in particular or even I am anticipating something like an event?
pure anxiety, I have generalized anxiety disorder and I dress accordingly, only cotton touching my skin if I know I will do something stressful or triggering to my specific fears... I've lived like this for the past six years and I just got told it will be lifelong, so I'm adjusting everything in my life, including only 100% cotton underwear
It could be anxiety. But your arms are also always down at your side. Where's any air going to come in to keep it cold underneath? Underarms, groins, and (for a lot of women) under the breasts are just areas that are always going to sweat, because it's always warm there. Unless you walk around with your arms straight up in the air, then I couldn't tell you!
Great episode. Why do some people smell like ammonia? Every now and then I get close to people who do, especially guys. It would be awesome and fun to have an episode about diagnosing and first aiding based on smell.
Could be Trimethylaminuria Trimethylaminuria is a disorder in which the body is unable to break down trimethylamine, a chemical compound that has a pungent odor. Trimethylamine has been described as smelling like rotting fish, rotting eggs, garbage, or urine. As this compound builds up in the body, it causes affected people to give off a strong odor in their sweat, urine, and breath.
Some guys probably smell of ammonia because they don't use TP when they pee. Ammonia is a component of urine, and one of the compounds urea breaks down into. Urea is what the liver creates to remove excess nitrogen from the breakdown of protein. So guys who drink excessive amounts of protein drinks may also smell of it.
I've noticed differently, some races are obviously more 🤧 than others. In South Asia it is so apparent and common while guys from Europe sometimes smell like 🧀
Please acknowledge that what you perceive as a body odour problem, could also be a problem of the clothes and the washing machine. Especially if all (your) washes are done at 30 degrees and if you never run a drum cleaning cycle, bacteria can build up in your washing machine and your clothes can come out with more bacteria than they should have. You can test this by pouring water over the armpits of your child's (or the person's) clean shirt and then smell the shirt. Solution is to improve the hygiene of your washing machine, not force anti transpirants upon all family members. Thank you.
10:15 I have a good story to emphasize this point. When I was in the Army I was stationed in Washington DC for a while. We had a running route that took us by some horse stables. Most of my group didn't really like the smell. It really reminded me of home, so I actually kinda liked it. 🙄😄
Is antibacterial soap really more effective than regular soap? Cause everybody is recommending it here on TH-cam, though the FDA doesn't really approve of it it seems... Would love to hear some opinions on this!
As with everything, I would say it depends. The microorganisms living in our skin are part of our body and participate in the equilibrium of our skin. I think antibacterial soap makes sense for your feet or your armpits if you are having problems with strong bad odour, but using it overall in your body could affect your skin protection and maybe get some rashes or fungus. Hope that helps!
If you wash the area properly (at least 20 seconds), soap is as effective as non anti-bacterial. Depending on the work conditions (handling food, cleaning dog poop, etc.), that's when you'll want to introduce the anti-bacterial kind. But for your body, use the standard stuff!
I am SO glad they talked about the "aluminum bad" bs. Just because it has a long name doesn't mean it's dangerous. I can't believe how many people blindly believe things without taking even the slightest moment to think about it.
To those people who drink heavily, especially hard liquor, you can brush your teeth, use mouthwash and shower - and please do - but the smell definitely comes out of your pores the next day. Same with pot users. That smell lingers much longer than you realize.
This video answered every single question i ever had about this issue, thank you so much. I know what I need to do and how to go about it based upon my own personal product usage guidelines
I don't really like the idea of antiperspirants. Yes, the stain on the shirt or dress isn't great but it's important to sweat. So, pick better clothes. Natural fibers, some patterns don't show the wet patch, don't dress up when isn't needed.
My mother-in-law is one of the lucky 2% that doesn’t have body odor. She’s American-born Chinese and she says that in her experience Caucasians almost always have more body odor than the Asian population. In regards to aluminum-based antiperspirants, I get a horribly itchy rash when I use them, so I have to stick with aluminum-free products.
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Ame"
My sweat doesn't smell. Sure, it would after not washing after a week, I've done that in my darkest times, but generally, just showering once a day, sometimes every 2 days, depending on physical activity, (I have chronic fatigue, so there are days I don't make it off the couch) I don't smell at all. I didn't know it was a mutation that only 2% of the population have. I'm also a red head with blue eyes...
Yes but like the dermatologist said, the smell comes from bacteria feeding on your sweat. And sometimes we think we don’t smell because we get used to our own smell.
Simple tip to get rid of smelly armpits: Mix lemon juice and baking soda until it forms a semi-solid paste. Before you shower in the morning, rub it under your armpits and leave it there for about 5 minutes. Jump in the shower and rinse the mixture under warm water. Don't use soap under your arms on that day (use it the next day as you alternate). The reason this works is the acidity of the lemon juice kills the bacteria under your arms, and leaves the environment inhospitable for more to invade. It doesn't last all day, but good in a pinch. Best part? If you're black and you have dark underarms, using the baking soda will help lighten the darkness too!
I have a fair skin but my hair is very dark so i also have a grey underarm. It is not going away even after waxing. I heard about this limon+soda mix many times but sadly i have an allergie from citrus fruits. Do you thing other things would work? Like maybe apple cidar or something instead of limon?
@@effingcool1780 it probably would to reduce the smell. If you are more interested in the lightening effect, try a turmeric and yoghurt mask, it works really well
I uh.... am not sure about this one. Maybe they haven't covered all kinds of sweat or conditions but 1.) Even very cleanly people can stink when they sweat. 2.) There is something called "anxiety sweat" or "stress sweat" and it has its own scent that is very distinct from normal sweat. Even humans can tell the difference between the two, dogs 100x more of course. It's a harsh and almost bitter smell, not like the sweet-ish normal sweat. I'm surprised the Science Insider didn't mention / explain that...
I haven't used deodorant in 10 years. My armpits don't smell, unless the hair there gets longer. I use an epilator on armpit hair and then there's no scent.. Unless I sweat a lot at a point, then some smell comes around.
I had a friend in college who didn't sweat and he didn't even have to use deodorant because he never had body odor ( and his armpits had hair). It was mind-blowing.
2% of the white population do not have the gene to make body odor, but the vast majority among the other 98% can deal with sweat properly using antiperspirants. For those very few percents among the 98% are those with a BO issue.

Lack of any evidence doesn't mean we have evidence it doesn't cause cancer. "We have no studies that show aluminum causes cancer". So basically science (evidence) is limited on this area.
I don't ever sweat on my face. My boyfriend sweats on his face all the time. I always sweat on my palms and feet, my boyfriend doesn't ever sweat on his palms. The sweatiest parts of my body are by back and my palms. For him it's his face (mostly forehead). Besides of not being able to sweat on my face, my face also never ever turns red. I know many people who turn red when they're hot, when doing physical exercise, when laughing, when crying, when feeling embarassed, nervous, and literally under any physical or even emotiona condition. I literally can't turn red on my face no matter what. We are from the same country, roughly the same age.
Cotton is the exact opposite of moisture wicking. Wool, especially merino wool, is by far the best, however it can be very pricey ($20 for a high quality hiking pair)
I have reduced my armpit odor to nothing, just by bathing from a anti bacterial soap and using anti bacterial cream, now my nose stings from smell of other people around me, i just notice it a lot
I use native deodorant, it works fantastic! However after a while it did give me a rash, however, it doesn't hurt, or itch, or spread, so now I just use 2 swipes and it's much less rash.
I’d love to shower daily, but if I do my skin will dry up like a desert and crack and develop eczema. I dunno if i have some skin condition or not but I can’t do it 😆
Living in a tropical country, people here who value hygiene shower everyday. The air is humid, so your skin don't dry up. I went to Europe for a few months and took my daily shower habit with me. It made my skin dry. Had to rely on lotion.
My sweat become smelly since I love to eat any kind of onions. I love fry shallot, fry onion, fry garlic, spring onion, and Indian curry powder... Whatever I don't care...😸 I still can control it using deodorant. but my breath is not bad because I brush my teeth until it clean I brush it using manual and electric brush.
So, really simply put, sweat smells because bacteria fart after feeding on what our glands produce on certain parts of our skin? Cuz that's kinda hilarious to me :D
I appreciated this but my main purpose for commenting is that they're so cute together lol. Not necessarily coupley, but they just seem to have such a nice chemistry & flow together. It was a nice balance & they sometimes seemed like friends & other times just great complimentary strangers. 🥰
it’s not the sweat that smells, it’s the bacteria that multiply due to the high moisture environment caused by the sweat. Sweat stimulates bacteria growth and bacteria respire and basically their farts are what stink to put it simply.
I'm no professional but a lot depends on what you wear. I find natural fibres, particularly bamboo, are GREAT for non smelly sweat. I notice when I wear non natural fabrics in summer. Some of them stink so quickly!
I shower daily and throughout the year, I only use a roll-on for my armpits. It is only last week and just for the summer months that I have included an Anti-Perspirant Deodorant SPRAY for my general(genital) area after showering. I think it is the summer heat which causes me to sweat more and produce more body odor than normal.
My feet have less sweat glands in most people's feet and they dry out very quickly and my feet do not smell and they never have. I can wear my shoes all day and then smell them and there is no smell. My sweat doesn't smell either except under my arms. I can no longer wear deodorant because I get really bad eczema under my arms and most deodorants aggravate that. Also I cannot wear cotton socks on my feet. The skin on my feet is very dry and cotton socks tend to aggravate that. I prefer acrylic because they tend to make my feet feel less dry. I always have to apply a lot of lotion to my feet because otherwise they will itch and burn. I get really bad dry skin in the wintertime.
It's funny, cause I have had some sense of personality disorder most of my life and depending on who was actually actively out, it would effect my body odor or lack there of.

"I would like them to discuss about effects of oil ,soap , and shampoo on our skin and hair. Do we really need them or these are just a scam. We have sebaceous glands to keep our skin moisturized. And water is enough to washout most of the dirt from skin. Scalp produces oil for hair. Then why do we washout all these with soap and shampoo and then moisturize and condition ? What's the point?"
Its good untill you get eczema. Hot showers with soap frequently will drie skin and remove your skins natural anti bacterial oils which is not good if done too frequently. If you don't have a drie skin and you are also using sensitive soaps then you probably aren't over showering. Everyones different. But yeah skin has natural oils just like if you clean your ear wax completely you are more likely to get ear infection.
Four questions about this otherwise excellent video: 1. Why have meaningless music behind the entire presentation? 2. When demonstrating the use of under-arm deodorants, why show models who have removed their natural hair? If natural body hair contributes to body odour in a negative way, why not discuss it? 3. What about garlic? 4. What about cigarette smoking?R (Australia)
I was actually shocked to hear "it's ok to shower daily" said by a "specialist", in my culture showering daily is a basic hygene habit (hair can wait 2-3 days) in summer 2 showers a day are normal and sometimes a necessity. "Living in Yakutsk" is a plausible reason for less bath time, but "didn't sweat much" is a very gross excuse for laziness. And I exclude all mental health-related reasons or conditions one might have in order not to indulge, and all people who can't do it because of where they live or other crucial factors (lack of amenities, crude conditions, finance-related problems etc). I understand different cultures have different values and I try to respect that to my best extent, but living in a different to my own culture, there are many challanges to address
I live in an area that has an ongoing drought, showering every day would be pretty irresponsible. Thankfully for me I guess I grew up in a household where we showered when we felt like it, usually every 3 days or so. Humans are meant to smell a bit, it's really weird not to be able to "read" someone's scent because they've soaped it away or drowned it in fake chemicals scents.
@@vacafuega People have their own smell even after showering, that's natural, it depends on their "diet", what they consume. Sure, that's normal, but a 3 day sweat is certainly not considered a natural body scent nowadays (at least in my culture, and if of course, there is no other plausible reason). Looking and smelling clean is the norm and expectation, I could've never guessed what's it like in an "ongoing drought" area, but I guess it makes sense.
I've never understood how my father can be dripping in sweat and not smell Not One Bit! Yet I'll sweat a tiny bit and reek😒 What's wrong with me! Lol oh AND my dad doesn't use antiperspirant or deodorant!! None of his kids got that from him 😑
Eeesh! Botox injections sting! I had to get them in my calf for muscle spasms and it was NOT fun! I honestly do not know how people can stand to get them in sensitive areas like the face or underarm. Of course, my neurologist was probably using a lot more to calm down a large calf muscle than would a dermatologist on a face or underarm. I was SO happy when I finally found the physiological stretching exercise to stop the spasms without any more shots. I needed to crouch down so that my hips and my body weight were below my knees. Doing squats daily counteracted the spasms and I could finally walk without pain. Such a relief!!
"antibacterial soap" he is saying that not every soap kills bacteria? I vaguely remember the FDA cracking down on these soaps and products because they could not prove that they were better than regular soaps.
Yep, they aid in bacterial resistance, which is why you really don't find it in a lot of soaps anymore (Bath and Body Works, for instance, removed it from all their soaps). I don't understand this fascination with antibacterial everything. All our bodies are covered with it. It's o-kayyyyy. A lot of those bacteria help us and fight off the bad stuff but sure, let's just take the salted earth approach!
But wouldn't the bacteria become resistant to the BO soap over time?
@@jonathansamaroo5777 good question. I'm not sure (hopefully not), but considering I've only used the soap 1-2 and it seems to have sufficed for now, I think it'll probably be fine.
since soap has nothing to do with antibiotics and their mechanisms, I highly doubt that.
@@liloruf2838 there definitely is a correlation; whether there's any causation or not (in which case it was just a coincidence that I stopped noticing any odor right after using anti bacterial soap) we can't be 100% sure.

People with the T variant have dry earwax while people with the C variant have wet earwax. I inherited CT. So I inherited the T variant as far as sweating without odor, and the C variant of wet earwax. My father did not have underarm smell.

I'm happy to hear them say it's ok to shower everyday. Some people claim dermatologists say showering everyday creates dry skin;that's their excuse for not showering daily.
Well it's OK but u don't have to if u did not sweat much or ur hair is clean
in indonesia you shower 2 times per day
No, this is a true story.

That is not why.

YES YES YES, as a Bangladeshi I can also affirm this
Actually sometimes it might be also that the deodorant is bad, cause years ago I smelled very bad after 30 minutes I showered, and of course I would wear clean clothes, when I found a good deodorant I stopped having that problem. Some deodorants are really useless.

Why does being nervous make me sweat all the time?😭 I’m always apprehensive & I am always sweating 😅
When we are nervous our adrenal glands secrete more adrenaline hormone which upregulates sweat glands and hence more sweat is produced
Hii
Anxiety that’s why
It's the flight or fight response of your body. Being nervous means being anxious. And that's part of the evoution. Blame your ancestors, that they chose flight over fight. Or thank them. Otherwise you wouldn't exist. If you want to stop beeing anxious or nervous, try a psychotherapy. But be aware that this reaction is basicly something good.

Taking a shower daily and washing with an antibacterial soap along with the right anit-perspirant deodorant definitely works. And having a balanced meal since some foods producers unique smells does work. If you've been doing this all (even almost) all your life, congratulations you're on the right track!

Showering every day may be ok. But it's not necessary. Even if you stink. You can wash just certain areas. Showering every day is bad for the environment and you don't need it. You can shower every other day or every 3 days or maybe longer. It depends on your body.
I rather take a 2 min shower everyday then skip days.
It also depends on your weather and activity conditions, but in general you are right :)
Yeah it’s true. It can kill bacteria our skin actually needs so it’s not great. Normal soap is sufficient
A great point.
These doctors are careless.
They even encourage seeping Aluminium into your body!!!
4:41 this is great advice for life and especially food. There are so many things I hated the smell or taste of until I got used to it
I was a huge victim of this myth about the Alluminioum.. Thanks for debunking!
I use Drysol under my arms for excessive sweating and now I sweat more on my face and back. But the sweat there has no odor so win-win
I am one of those lucky few who have never had under arm odor. Saved a few dollars never having had to buy and use deodorant/ antiperspirant.

Ok boomer.
I was about to say that. No data to link causation BUT also no data to disprove it. So it should be mentioned about aluminium
Anxiety 😐, just different set of hormones like adrenaline and norepinephrine or even cortisol
pure anxiety, I have generalized anxiety disorder and I dress accordingly, only cotton touching my skin if I know I will do something stressful or triggering to my specific fears...
Could be Trimethylaminuria
Trimethylaminuria is a disorder in which the body is unable to break down trimethylamine, a chemical compound that has a pungent odor.
In South Asia it is so apparent and common while guys from Europe sometimes smell like 🧀
Sometimes people smell of ammonia when they're hungry, can also relate to dehydration
@@Agent-ie3uv that's because europeans don't shower everyday. french people only shower once a week and quite a lot of them don't use deodorant
I love what she said about how a negative smell to one person is a positive smell to another.
@@lauranaranjo9633 Thx a lot for clarifying this! That makes a lot of sense actually!!!

I don't really like the idea of antiperspirants. Yes, the stain on the shirt or dress isn't great but it's important to sweat. So, pick better clothes. Natural fibers, some patterns don't show the wet patch, don't dress up when isn't needed.
What makes me not use aluminum based antiperspirant is that because I found out that it reacts with sweat and ruins my shirts

Simple tip to get rid of smelly armpits:
Mix lemon juice and baking soda until it forms a semi-solid paste.

Maybe they haven't covered all kinds of sweat or conditions but
1.) Even very cleanly people can stink when they sweat.
If 98% of people have smelly pits and only 2% don't, it's not a myth. Maybe a generalization, but not a myth.
98% of people don’t have smelly armpits
I had a friend in college who didn't sweat and he didn't even have to use deodorant because he never had body odor ( and his armpits had hair). It was mind-blowing.
indeed.
2% of the white population do not have the gene to make body odor, but the vast majority among the other 98% can deal with sweat properly using antiperspirants. For those very few percents among the 98% are those with a BO issue.

Sweating may not be an internal detox, but it definitely detoxifies your pores (???). I was a bit disappointed in that answer.
Why does my pit sweat only stink occasionally and not all the time when my pits are sweating.
Because your hormones change and affect your scent
Because it will only stink when there is a huge amount of bacteria growth, if there is no bacteria growth, then it won't smell.
it’s not the sweat that smells, it’s the bacteria that multiply due to the high moisture environment caused by the sweat.
Pro-tip for sweatheads: stay inside in an air-conditioned room and keep the temperature between 16* - 17* ☃️❄️🥶❄️☃️ or go live in Greenland.
Fun fact; those with the non-smelly sweat gene also have hard ear wax!
You sweat more that means more bacteria go to those areas to feast on your sweat and thus get smelly .
There are the best socks out there you can get in the LC Waikiki supermarket, since they don't cause your feet to sweat much.
I've learnt a ton! Thanks!

What about taking showers to often? Is it good for your skin?
He said it's ok to shower everyday
Daily shower is fine but for many people two to three times a week is enough
