    I have been homeschooling for 5 years and there's never been a "normal" year. Learning how to homeschool, pregnancies, new babies, sickness, schedule conflicts. Every year humbles me more to really be more God lead and just having faith that they will learn what they need for their own personal lives

      Amen! I learn more and more about surrender the more God does His sanctifying work.

    Hi Jess, I struggle with my health too and lost bone marrow with my second pregnancy. As a home school mom I’ve always appreciated how we have flexibility when I get sick. God has been really good in all these last few years when I get sick. And yes, my plans get pushed to the side 😅but He always leads us to what we need when we need it. ❤️ So I’m always learning daily how He’ll meet us. We are His children and He always has a good plan. Praying for a hopeful summer for you and your family. 🙏

    Hi Jess @TheHomeschoolConvert. My name is Monique, I'm also a homeschool mom, and I'm a Pediatrician. I just happened to come across your video, when I saw you mentioning your health concerns, and the genetic predisposition, you and your daughter have. I wanted to let you know you have hope. I am understanding more and more that our genes actually only play a very small role in our eventual health and disease outcomes. It is all about what happens when they are turned off or on, by surprisingly, the foods we eat, and our environmental exposures, lifestyle habits to name a few. I am seeing research showing that time and time again, those that live longest, and have the least likelihood for cancers, and chronic illnesses, are those with plant predominant diets, such as a Whole Food Plant Based Diet. I personally have genetic predispositions myself, that could lead to malignant illnesses, so I know how un-nerving it feels to get genetic news like you have received. Because of this, and some current health issues myself, my family and I are actually fully Whole Food Plant Based, now as of January, and we have already seen such blessings in health in just this past month. I actually did a video on how we can turn off or on our illness genes, back in January.
    It is at my You Tube Channel if you would like to take a look. (I have linked it here: th-cam.com/video/PCxZ4B97l1A/w-d-xo.html) It's Under: "What Illness Genes Are you Turning OFF or ON With the Food You Eat? Our Gut Microbiome."
    I would also highly recommend Dr. Joel Fuhrman's You Tube channel. (Linked here: @drfuhrman) (th-cam.com/video/oGP31HToALI/w-d-xo.html ): "Joel Fuhrman, M.D. on Treating Disease with a Nutritarian Diet"
    He has many books out, and talks extensively about how a Nutritarian diet and lifestyle, can prevent us from coming down with malignancies, chronic ailments, and the diseases that are so high in our nation today. I know this is a long post, but I honestly felt compelled to share this with you. So that you can know that you and your daughter have hope, and that these genetic predispositions, do not dictate fully our destinations. The Father has designed our body to thrive, and when we really learn how to tap into food as our medicine, the results and outcomes are amazing. I am currently reading "Eat for Life" by Dr. Fuhrman, this is a good place to start, to really learn more, and I also enjoyed, "Disease Proof Your Child Feeding Kids Right... also by Dr. Fuhrman. There are so many more I can share as well. I hope this is helpful to you, if even in a little way, so that you can feel peace and hope. Our bodies are so complex, but there is so much potential for life when we are armed with knowledge and know-how. ( I hope you see this message, for some reason, it did not show up, so I wrote 2x).

    • @TheHomeschoolConvert
      @TheHomeschoolConvert  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your thoughtful comment! Having Hashimoto's disease, as well, I eat a low inflammation diet a functional nutritionist helped me with many years ago that significantly helps in regards to autoimmunity. Having a genetic mutation is an entirely different can of worms because it is a tumor suppressor that is mutated, which results in my body not being actively able to suppress tumor cells. I am always open to using nutrition as medicine though, so thank you for sharing those resources.

    • @MoniqueAduSustainableLiving
      @MoniqueAduSustainableLiving ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheHomeschoolConvert Hey Jess. Your so welcome. So glad you are using food as medicine already. That’s one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself and family, especially with autoimmune concerns. There is definitely however new insight, in Genetics and how it influences disease, Tumor suppressor mutations, DNA malfunction propensity, and so much more when it comes to the growing field of eye opening research. Specifically, in how our genes work and what actually triggers our predispositions, whether it be for suppression or expression. In other words what actually will turn on that propensity? Research is showing so far in most that it’s not automatic. As a physician I have humbly learned so much more than what the standard medical texts are teaching us after finishing my training. Sadly many of us physicians have not known or learned the half of what is to be known, about how the body really works in relation to food and Epigenetics. Honestly, the body is so complex and each of us have this wonderful and different journey, that allows us to continue to learn and grow. One size definitely does not fit all, in medical diagnosis, but knowing this, and understanding that a gene mutation is not necessarily a final sentence is freeing and brings so much peace for us and even generationally. I’m glad I was able to reach out to you. Thank you for all you do in sharing rich resources for the homeschool community. I really do enjoy and appreciate them, and thank you for your reply!

    Great to hear from you! I don’t think anybody has a “normal” school year, things always happen. I was diagnosed with classic migraines this year, so I know everyday will be different but those different days soon shall pass with his Grace. Look forward to the next video ❤

    Thank you for sharing! Sometimes we all need to get it off our chests when we go through things and/or feel somewhat validated & comforted that its okay when things don't go as planned.
    I went through something 2 years ago and am still trying to recover schoolwise. Lol They never were able to diagnose me with anything, though I lost 40lbs. They thought I had cancer or thyroid condition. Then it was a blood condition they though, then GI. Went to specialists, numerous visits. I'm on the mend but it still hits me once in a while. All started from a miscarriage I had back in 2021.
    I've learned just to go with the flow. It still makes my eye twitch sometimes when something goes out the window, but taking pressure off of ourselves definitely okay and makes us better teachers and parents.
    Praying for you to continue to heal!!!
    -Jenn

    What a lovely blessing this video is! Thank you SO much for sharing a bit about the journey you've experienced the past few months. I can relate as I have had to deal with a difficult medical situation that means I have a lot of extra tests and appointments to hopefully avoid a condition I'm genetically predisposed to. It's definitely a lot to deal with, but I so appreciated your great outlook about it, and that you're seeking to honor and glorify the Lord while you trust Him with you and your families future. Praise the Lord! He is SO faithful, and SO good, and SO worthy of your trust! Thank you for your update and all you shared. Praying for you....blessings! ❤

    No, I don’t think there will ever be a year where everything goes according to plan. Actually, I don’t remember a week where everything goes according to plan.
    My take on this is: If we get math and some form of LA done, we are good. All the rest is life schooling.
