    Hmmm...I followed the steps and have a website and database set up with the Moodle files in the cgi.bin but when I try to go to my site, I get a 403 forbidden error. I am using bluehost shared plan. I put the files as a subdomain of my main site so it shows up as Other CMS on Bluehost's website panel. Any idea how I get the website to show up or do I need to contact bluehost?

    • @Ricoshae
      @Ricoshae  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Definitely contact blue host as the files should be in the subdomains /html folder. I don't use BlueHost so I am not sure how they may structure things but if you have access to CPanel then the Moodle files live in the main sites html folder.

    does this automatically create the config.php configuration file for moodle in the home folder of moodle? I always have to backup that file when I am upgrading the moodle version.

  • @cikgusuz

    I think it does not have wordpress connected. But if I click on install wordpress, it says all the files will be deleted. Hmmm...Did I do something backwards?

    Wish you could do similar for Plesk panel - has some other settings not shown on CPanel and I can't get the install to run in the web browser :(

      Sorry, I don't have access to Plesk to run through the install process. I will see if I can run an install of Plesk and try out the process with it too.

    I installed a theme for moodle on cpanel and it is giving errors. If there a way to reverse/ uninstall theme or do i need to delete everything (including the sub-domain) and re-install moodle entirely?

    • @Ricoshae
      @Ricoshae  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Definitely don’t need to uninstall everything. Are you able to go into the admin to switch back to a different theme?

    I am using cPanel of Namecheap, directory shown does not seem to be working for me. Any pointers appreciated. Looks like I have to make DNS entry in Namecheap.

    sorry sir, I had a problem when installing moodle on the local server using xampp. the problem is that every time I install moodle it always fails at the install stage of the web browser error like this: This site can't be reached localhost refused to connect. tries: checking the connection Checking the proxy and the firewall ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED Please help

    • @Ricoshae
      @Ricoshae  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mas, Does it start the Moodle install at all or is this to get the first page to appear? Typically that message is related to the Xamp server rather than Moodle.

    Any idea if Moodle is more CPU intensive or memory intensive app?

    • @Ricoshae
      @Ricoshae  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, there is a lot happening in the Moodle code so you do need to make sure you have plenty of CPU and memory to run Moodle especially when you have a lot of students accessing the platform. I'm not an expert in this area so I would definitely do more research if you plan to self host a live server.

    Can you download a whole site? If you can only download your courses it's terrible

    • @Ricoshae
      @Ricoshae  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can download the whole Moodle site, just need to download the root folder, download the Moodle Data folder and also backup the SQL database.
      If you mean download all courses in a site, then as far as I know you need to download the courses individually.

    • @DidacticEditions
      @DidacticEditions 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Ricoshae thhank you. Yes, unfortunately, there is only the option to download the courses which, to be honest, are stored localy before uploading anyway. Finally the main trouble is to build a website exactly the same from scratch.

    Sir, i want to upgrade moodle 3.8 to 4.3 manually, please guide me. Thanks You.

    • @Ricoshae
      @Ricoshae  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should backup all the Moodle files, the Moodledata folder and the Moodle database before attempting to upgrade.
      It is also very wise to run up a second server to test the upgrade process before running this on your live server.
      I would also suggest turning off the mail sending feature on your test server to make sure student don't receive notifications during the testing process.
      First step in upgrading from 3.8 is to upgrade to Moodle 3.9 using the Moodle upgrade guide.docs.moodle.org/39/en/Upgrading
      Then you can upgrade from 4.1 to 4.3 docs.moodle.org/403/en/Upgrading
      Hope this helps.

    Thank you for the great walkthrough. I followed all the steps as shown but at the end I see a similar page to this. Do you know what might be the reason? th-cam.com/video/bIpwRCH3uOw/w-d-xo.html

    • @Ricoshae
      @Ricoshae  ปีที่แล้ว

      Typically this is because your version of PHP is not compatible with the version of Moodle you have installed. Check the install requirements for version you downloaded and make sure it matches your PHP version. Or alternatively increase the PHP version in CPanel to see if this is the issue.
