Great job! Personally I would tend to avoid running wires under rows of pins due to cross talk but clearly it works in this scenario so it's not a big deal just a preference more than anything, but it sure does look tidy that way! Thumbs up!
As I recall pin 2 is the clock input. Anybody doing this mod might think about chip placement as to keep this pin lead as short as possible. Also be wary about wire routing on this as it is subject to interference and can cause issue with the mod working.
thx man, you're amazing ! I just watched another video but this tut was complitely wrong. Now with your Video I got my PSone running backups :) It was my first solder session :>
I tried disassembling my psone by following along, and after i couldnt pull the orange ribbon cable out i paniced and put it all back together now my disc tray doesnt spin at all help
there is two cables attached to the laser unit, the ribbon data cable and the power molex cable, open it back up and make both those cables are connected properley.
Personally I prefer the 509, well for the newer models psx anyway. Keep an eye out for kafuter glue, great for holding the chips.Like a silicone, used to hold components too
NTSC games are recommended at 60 fps. 50hz has a desync problem. That's why you fix the color fix and the oscillator. This is a very difficult task on the ntsc console, but very easy on PAL.
The World Of DanishDuckling, late reply but trace the pad back to its closest point and tie in there. Also if the trace is visible you can scrape off the solder mask and land the wire directly on the trace itself.
jse07 yes the games all europe PAL. All games bought in german retail then. My console is an scph-102 PAL with pm-41 board. I tested worms party, gta 2 (second edition) crash bandicoot 1 and v-rally. Tested games from different years so but no one runs. If I burn one of these on to a Sony cd-r, it runs. Info: if i put in an original disc the cd drive sound much diffrent its louder thsn with a backup disc :o
I'm really unsure why this is happening, Did you program the chip yourself or buy it online? I'm thinking it may be a multimode3 chip and not a onechip. You should sign up to the "assembler games" forums and make a post there explaining your issue, It's the best place to get support for console modding.
ah okay. this is a nice hint. yes I bought it online programmed. but the dealer don't says if it is an mm3 or an one chip. Only I know is that the chip is ready for ps1 and psone. for both. Don't know if this is important. I bought it here, on a german site: www.voss-tronic.de/index.php/90/6/konsolen/spielstation-1/mod-chip-1.html I will check this forum. do you got a direct link to it? only to be sure to get the right forum :) Man, im verry verry thankfull for your help. You got my thumbs an my sub ;)
It's most likely a MM3, the problem with PAL PSone's is it had extra checks in the bios that the NTSC model did not have, only the ONEchip patches it properly. MM3 does not work properly with PAL PSone's it will only boot in region backups so NTSC backups would fail to boot with out disk patching or using a bootdisk along with the chip, I would recommend buying a ONEchip from eurasia.nu (it takes a while to get to europe from Thailand but they are cheap) or ordering a 12c508a pic chip on ebay from a .eu seller and ask the seller to program the chip with the ONEchip hex before he ships it to you, most chip sellers will do this at no charge, Then you can just swap it out for the SSone/MM3 chip, the wireing is the same so you can leave them in place.
Hello, thank's for the video but I had a question. What software do you use to program the pic 12f829. And where can I find the hex file. I ordered the same programmer at Ebay so i must wait 2 weeks. Sorry for my bad englisch i am Dutch.
i need ask something: 1 - the mod chip don't let read original CD's? 2 - can you share the datasheet(i have some but isn't with same chips on these PS1 102 model)?
1 - Yes it will read any Original games from any region as well as any backups. 2 - 102 install diagram here www.fatcat.co.nz/psx/install/102/ONEchip8.html
Hey Jse07 I hope you can help me. I bought some hours ago a used PsOne (the first square one) and it dont work. When i plug it in it dont boot or something only the green led lights up. When i took a look on the mainboard of the PsOne a saw many blue cables that are connected to a chip or something. Now i think it is modded and i hope this is the issue why it wont start. Here a pic how it looks like: image.prntscr.com/image/36ab5c5f5594432bafd14834ca9f1515.jpg Is it enought when i "deinstall" the chip with the cables? Or maybe i should not touch it and send it to some one who have the knowledge? I hope you can help me (Sorry for the bad english)
If the Green led comes on then the playstation is powering up, and the issue could be with the video cables you are using, ps1 support, rf, composite and rgb video leads, component will not work even though ps2/ps3 component cables will fit, also the multi av to hdmi adapters won't work either, they only work on ps2, The chip looks like it's a multimode3 or mayumi v4, these are good chips and the install is looks good, they would not prevent the playstation from booting, my advice would be try some other video leads and see if the playstation outputs anything then.
Thank You for the answer. But i dont think this is a problem of the video cable. I use and rgb video cable that comes up with the ps1. Shouldn't the Ps1 boot up even if it isnt connectet to the TV? Because if I start it and put a Game in the CD Driver dont rotate. So I think the ps1 have problems to boot up. But really im not an expert its only a guess

The screen says 50hz? Shouldent it be 60hz for ntsc games?
I tried disassembling my psone by following along, and after i couldnt pull the orange ribbon cable out i paniced and put it all back together

help
my bad, turns out there's some parts that need to be held down by the case in order for the ps1 to spin
hope this helps anyone else

Do you hace a diagram of SCPH-101?
Your wire routing js neat, but the soldering isnt the best. All could have been much neater and easier with some no clean flux
Second Modchip still doesn't work! My playstation is cursed! :'(
Personally I prefer the 509, well for the newer models psx anyway.

I accidently lifted the solder pad for point #5 - is there a way to fix it, or an alternate point to solder it to?

after the installation of the chip my psone only plays backups. Original games does not work anymore. any ideas why?
Are the retail games that are not working the same region as your PSONE?
Is your PSONE is a PAL model?
jse07 yes the games all europe PAL. All games bought in german retail then. My console is an scph-102 PAL with pm-41 board. I tested worms party, gta 2 (second edition) crash bandicoot 1 and v-rally. I use the software from here kitsrus.com/software.html and im using 12c508a pic chips, you can download the hex from eurasia.nu

Is it me, or does ONECHIP convert the BIOS video mode from PAL to NTSC? (NTSC4.43/PAL60, that is)
@@NSHG It always boots the system in NTSC Mode.
Are those chips already pre-programmed? ( www.eurasia.nu/shop/product_info.php?cPath=52&products_id=275 )
Yep :) and eurasia are a very reputable source
Thanks, I ordered one
Nice video my friend....I want to ask you how can I understand if my ps1 is chipped??? I got one from my friend and I can’t play the original games
I can't get point 8 to stick anyone else no why thanks
Thanks for the video, Can you please tell me where I can get the one chip from in the uk?
you can just buy blank 12c508a pic chips on ebay, then program them with a programmer, or you can buy them from eurasia.nu
My god you're alive!

is the onechip a stealth chip???
