Just trying to figure out on JP versions. I assume you solder to the bios chip similar to the PAL version? When i installed the modchip on the JP version I made a custom bios for the normal mayumi v4. I am experimenting on the psone JP. If I figure it out I want to try it on the schp-1000
Yea, I was wondering how he got it working with flashing it without a programmer. As flashing through the USB port keeps the bootloader on the Arduino, which cause a 2 seconds delay before executing the PSNee code. I'm assuming his PS1 drive is having hard time reading the CD-R and it takes more than 2 seconds to read the disc thus was to boot the backup.
@@xrayminddo you think you could mitigate this problem by just booting the ps1 without the lid, waiting some seconds for the arduino to boot, and then closing the lid with the backup? UPDATE: I just successfully modded my PSone (that has a lens still in pretty good shape) with the Arduino programmed with just regular USB and had no issues. The Arduino nano i used is a clone that fortunately came with the new bootloader that seems to work fine for this. If you can program yours without the "Old bootloader" option, you should be fine.
@@MadModLabs ok im thinking i might give it a try someday hopefully i can find my old ps1 in the basement somewhere... awesome vid btw really enjoyed it !! Would love to see more console mods ! Perhaps ps2?
This is really awesome! Thanks for showing each step in detail
I grabbed a 5501 at a comic con today, wanting to get into all the video game hardware preservation, thank you ^.^
great video .. thanks for sharing
love the older consoles
i bought an xstation 5501 to go with my 1001
Well Done Sir!
I like the 3d Printed USB Dongle is a Nice Touch
Awesome mate, great video. Will now do this mod!
Loved your guide, I'm planning on trying it with my Japanese ps1 if the time allowed me.
I have to do this!!! Great video!
Kalymos dude look 🆒 af
Thanks for the guide. I have a pal version. What thickness was the enamel wire you had on there. 1mm?

Gran turismo 2 backup works correctly? Shouldn't the sketch be loaded via programmer?

hello have you a fichier stl please for fix the pcb ?
Tetris Plus!!!
do you think this method will work with an Arduino nano clone?
@@fohnikka yes it will work with a cheap nano clone. As long as it has the same 328 chip and you know which pins to use.

If I were to attempt this, I'd probably end up with a dead Playstation. I have trouble soldering wires to contacts 4x larger than those.
Do a ps4 mod vid
CTR!
