I always crumble into tears over these Māori warriors. Just so touching. And for those who think rugby’s not a sport, you don’t know what you are talking about!
People say it's not a sport? Do you live in upside down land? I'm American and even we fully call rugby a sport even tho we don't really have it here. That's bizarre AF
The respect the Maoris nd Irish display towards their fellow players is beautiful to see nd the Haka in Honour of their lost brother says alot more than just rugby. My 2 outright favorite teams.
It’s wonderful that the All Blacks have preserved and helped honour Māori tradition with the Hakka and that it can be used to honour fallen warriors too.
A beautiful moment of respect between people’s. Amplified all the more by the innate hardship of the game and the toughness of every man on that pitch. Rugby has a baked in goodness, a steadfastness and respect like no other sport on earth. Because it reaches far further than the players and those in the stands. It tattoos you with these values from the inside.

A Haka is just powerful, moving and full of respect Some of the most emotional moments I've witnessed as a Munster and Ireland supporter have been during and after a Haka. I have nothing but love for the culture and long may it continue
That’s the thing with Rugby (and Cricket actually) It’s always respectful about these kind of things. They try to make something like this as a mark of respect. In one game they were playing and it crossed over with the time a player had been pronounced dead the week before. The referee blew the whistle at 30 seconds before the point in time, to allow time for all the players to get up etc Then they stood in silence for two minutes. Then restarted the game. Truly respectful.
As a scotsman the Haka gets me more emotional than flower of scotland i cannot wait to go to new zealand for my 50th so i can meet the maori people in their homeland and see the haka up close its top of my bucket list.
And people say sports are "just" sports. Much love to these guys for the honor and respect. No kneeling. No politics. No bull$h!t. Tears for their friend and not their paycheck. Salute boys... Rest in peace brother.
I don't follow rugby, but I know loss. My dad died when I was 9. This whole respectful, dedication to a man they obviously respect had me weeping uncontrollably. Beautiful dedication to a life gone too soon. ❤
Haka is something so spiritual that always makes me cry. This tribute was just beautiful and respectful. This culture should stand proud of having such a tradition.
