Hi Bonnie I'm one of your fans fromSouth Africa. I came across your Chanel by mistake , and don't regret this. I've learnt a lot from your channel. I've made a cable scarf and hat from your channel. I'm going to try this Celtic wrap it's beautiful . Please share more of these type of wraps. Unusual crochet compare to other crocheting. I'm glad I came across your channel😘👍
Hi Bonnie, I'm loving this wrap. I've done test swatches in a number of yarns to find one with a nice drape. I had a lot of trouble with the knurl stitch, however I found an alternative that gives the same effect. Twisted single crochet! It was easier for me as it went in the right direction and my stitches were more uniform. Thank you so much, I'm up to the 2nd row of cables.....woohoo!
HI BONNIE, I PRAISE THE LORD FOR YOU, I'M WORKING ON A TABLECLOTH FOR THE CHURCH SANCTUARY, BUT SOON AS I'M FINISH I'M GOING TO START ON YOUR GORGEOUSLY BEAUTIFUL PROJECT. WATCHING YOUR VIDEO, HAVE MADE ME VERY EXCITED. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MY TEACHER WITH STITCHES AND PROJECTS I'VE NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD EVER MAKE SOMETHING SO AMAZING BEAUTIFUL. Hi Bonnie! So excited to be working on this wrap. I've chosen antique teal and purple. Switching colors for the ridge and cable stitches has been tricky but I am loving how it's looking. Your videos are so clear. I taught myself crochet via TH-cam tutorials so written patterns are still really hard for me. Can't wait for the next video! Hope it's coming soon.
Oh, this is my kind of pattern! I love the celtic work in knitting or crochet. Your instruction is perfect. Thank you for sharing this! This is added to my project To Do list!
Youpiiie!!! Another wonderful & challenging project! Loved to do this... had a little search with the knurl stitch but did find the way ;-) Thanks for this beautiful tutorial Bonnie! Sending you the pics soon ;-)
This is a great pattern- I am really enjoying it-I was looking at some of your other designs-you are really bringing crochet forward-I was knitting more because I did not care for the crochet patterns that I was finding, but now I am back crocheting, as your designs and tutorials are a departure from the “old timey” looks😀
Thank you for teaching to make knitting so beautiful ... Can't wait for your video to teach making beautiful scarves for men with special patterns ... Good luck always & keep on success ... Greetings from Indonesia 🙏😘
I like this pattern and bought my yarn for this. But I need to finish 2 WIP's before I start this. Hard to wait though. I also like that for the first two rows you don't have us looking at endless single crochets for those rows, we get how to do them. Your instructions are very clear and no one should have trouble. (You can always go back and see what you need to do several times until you get it.)
You're a crochet genius! Such wonderful deep "crunchy" texture! I'm busy making weaving my focus right now, but one day I shall make one (hopefully more than just one) of your throws because they are luscious! Thank you for developing these stitches and showing us all how to work them. And please keep on doing what you do because your work, your patterns, are gorgeous!
I just purchased some beautiful Universal Deluxe worsted wgt yarn in hunter green. I have the magazine and will watch the video. Bonnie is one of my favorite designers. so excited to start
Ohhhhh, am I excited! When I received my Crochet World magazine, I fell in love with your wrap and all the TEXTURES! Trying to talk myself out of taking this project on as I have so many half complete projects. I searched TH-cam to see if there was a video; there wasn't so I talked myself right out of it, but it has lingered in the back of my brain, not letting me forget. Somehow your video popped up on my smart phone, so I'm off to buy my yarn today and hopefully hide it until a few things are done, but I know that I will not be able to WAIT! Thank you, this thing is gorgeous!!!!!
Hi Bonnie update on my progress. Crocheting this beautiful wrap. I did frog a few rows until I got the patterns memorized a bit. I took my time and referred to the pattern and of course this wonderful tutorial Today I am on the third cable really have fun on this row. Giving myself this week to work on the pattern will let you know when I finish. Thanks so much again can you tell I am a bit excited to actually accomplish some of the Celtic stitches yeah✨💫😍
So glad to hear that you are getting these stitches Nancy! Just like anything new, there is a bit off a learning curve, but once you are past that I hope it becomes more enjoyable! Looking forward to seeing your wrap!
Just subscribed! Arrhhhh! Can't wait to try. Love the way tutorial is narrated, complete, clear, and in a calm voice. Will be enjoyable all around. Thank you!!!!
Awwww....that really blesses me Carlo! May I ask where in Italy? My family and I enjoyed a wonderful 5 days in Rome back in 2013. Such an amazing time for us.
I appreciate you a ton Bonnie! I just finished my Aran Heart Throw in a light blue. It’s going to be a gift for my nephew when he’s older. Very excited to start on my new projects and get them done for Christmas this year. Working on a second Aran heart throw in Chili Red and a Tree of Life in Ivory. But this looks like something I can make for myself because I’ve never made anything for just myself!
Question: Written Pattern states: Low Front Ridge Row 1 - ch1 ( working in front loop only) slip stitch in next st.......however, video states ch1 then SKIP FIRST STITCH then slip stitch. Since I am entirely doing over my first third of the shawl because I was not exact on my number counts of stitches, I want to make sure that I am following direction exactly, so kindly clarify. Thank you. I so appreciate your sharing and instructions.
Madelaine Anonymous that’s a great question. Both mean the same. In crochet lingo to say “In next st” implies to skip the first st, but most folks would not know that. I’m just trying to make it more clear in the video.😊

I am new to crochet (2 months) and fell in love with this so I used cheap acrylic yarn to practice with it. Yes, very ambitious for a first project but I am so proud of the finished product. Bonnie, your videos and instructions made this such a fun project that even a beginner can be successful with it!! Question: would this work with a lighter weight yarn? I’d like to make this for a bride’s outdoor wedding…in November…in PA. She’s planning to wear a flannel over her dress if it’s cold, but this would be so much prettier.
Great question Diana! Absolutely! A lighter weight yarn would work great with this, but definitely check the gauge to see that you will be getting the length you desire. You can always add additional chains (add multiples of 12 to the original starting chain if you need to) to add or maintain the same length.
@@BonnieBayCrochet thank you! Being so new, I don’t yet know how well each weight of yarn works up. I’m especially drawn to the Celtic/cabled patterns so I was thrilled to find your channel.

I am a Visual learner so I practically live on u tube Question , do you have classes on Crafty ? Love the new book but I think to start I will do the patterns you have on u tube then I will have some knowledge and practice of the new to me stitches. Wow thank you thank you for your generous time on you tube.....Nancy from Massachusetts/ Florida in winter.❤️❤️❤️
Nancy Marchefka hi Nancy! Welcome to my channel! No, I don’t have classes on Craftsy now, but may look into developing some in the future. Glad you are enjoying my home state of FL! I do miss the weather there about now. My husband and I spent our honeymoon year in MA. He worked in downtown Boston, and we lived in Andover. Loved it!
Keep in mind that there is nothing wrong with making mistakes and getting a little messy while on the learning curve. That's how we learn. You can always try making small swatches with some leftover yarn in your stash first.
I watched the whole 3 videos from Beginning to end to get a good idea of the pattern and how ittl work up. I'm hoping for the best The Shadow Box makes me a bit nervous but I'm ready for the trial and error. It's a shame I tried to purchase the pattern listed but it seems to no longer be sold. I'll let you know how it goes by commenting on the final video with my thoughts and if I managed to Make this beautiful Wrap.
hello maam..i am working on this shawl and i am njoying evry part of it..thankyou for such a lovely project.i wanted to ask wether i can substitute any other stitch in place of knurl stitch.its too difficult for me.can i just replace it with a row of single crochet.plz reply..thanx again.love from india..
I am enjoying working on this wrap. I am on the diamond rows now. Was a little concerned that the wrap is curling a bit. Not sure why it is curling. Will I need to block it when I"m finished? Thank you for sharing your talents.
Hi Tammie! In Video #3 we will be working a perimeter round. If you need to block the wrap, I would wait until after this round to decide. If you do need to block, this shouldn't be a problem.
I’m pretty new to crochet after trying to take up knitting iv realised crochet for me personally is easier and definitely neater . You make this look so easy and explain it so well I actually feel it could be possible . I am worried tho as to which wool to use . Most of my wools are acrylic cheap practice wools , mostly being 4mm - 6mm . Could this work with the wool I currently have . I don’t know how to swatch things work or how to amend the stitch count by the gauge thing lol 😆 gosh I sound very educated 🤪
I need a longer one so can you please tell me how am i going to arange the stich count? If you spare some time to answer i'll be very glad. Thank you. Love it!
Me encanta todo lo que tú haces, se tejer pero no puedo ver bien tus puntos, ojalá algún día pueda realizar esas bellas mantas gracias por compartir 😃❤️👍✨✨
Had a hard time and had to rip out starting with cable stitch row town times. My work looked flat and I didn´t get that raised row look you had. Had a lot of trouble with cable, finding which stitch to go into, especially when sc into chain.
Hi what a beautiful Projekt thanks for this pattern i love celtic patterns. I have Start this Projekt in combination with Your Video and the way you introduce it, is perfekt for me thanks again. My yarn i am working this pattern is the classic 100% acrylic yarn from hobbii, 500gramms with 164yards for 50g in the color grey, but i think i must order more yarn for this shawl to complete it. Now i have a question can you please Tell me how long an high the hole shawl is when it is complete, so i can buy enough yarn, and another question is can i make the shawl so large i like🤔. Sorry for my Bad english i am from germany and i hope you can understand what i mean. Thank you. LG lally
Here's the information you requested: FINISHED MEASUREMENTS Approximately 17 x 72 inches without fringe MATERIALS • Red Heart Chic Sheep by Marly Bird medium (worsted) weight merino wool yarn (31/2 oz/186 yds/ 100g per skein): 10 skeins #5641 sterling
Hi Bonnie. I do not sleep well and have spent hours just watching your tutorials and want to make them all. You are so clear and patient. Your instructions are so easy to follow. Can I do this wrap in Double Knit yarn? I am in uk and like to work in doubleknit most of the time. Would I have to add extra stitches for my starting chain?. Just love your work Thank you x
Hi Debbie! That's a great question! This is a pretty long wrap (72" long), so it is really up to you and the thickness of the DK yarn. I've found that some are on the thicker side, and may be fine. You can always make a swatch with your yarn and from that (using some math) determine the length with this yarn by comparing your swatch to the gauge. You can always add to the existing starting chain in multiples of 12, but may need to adjust the shadow box motif slightly (multiple of 10 + 2). You will also need to size down your hook from the J/10/6.00mm hook. I hope this helps!
@@kelseymotley5584 I hope your wedding day is wonderful! My daughter got married this past June and we had such a wonderful day, and on a budget. Best wishes!
@@kelseymotley5584 Those can be the very sweetest! I made my daughter's cake (a dream fulfilled for me), she made the veil, we used COSTCO flowers (free delivery and AMAZING ROSES!), made all bouquets & flower arrangements, and we even had Chick-fil-A cater a bunch of chicken nuggets (VERY popular our guests). It was a wonderful time!
Hi Bonnie ~ I've been looking for the perfect shawl and this is it! Unfortunately I can't find the Chic Sheep and the Red Heart Soft must have changed because it's getting awful reviews. Can you recommend something else for this project? Nice and soft with a beautiful drape? It doesn't have to be wool. Thanks so much. Love your tutorials. You're the best on TH-cam! Thanks, Jeanne
Bonnie, I just completed the Chevrons & Diamond Throw last week. I throughly enjoyed making it. Thank you for your excellent video. Today my yarn arrived from Red Heart for the Celtic Diamond Wrap and I’m looking forward to starting. However, I have one question I would like to ask you before I begin. Would it be appropriate to use the foundation single crochet stitch instead of the row of chains and the row of single stitches?
If I wanted to add pockets to this, how would I go about doing that? (also, I adore this pattern!! I'm just making it for my grandma who requires pockets)
I'm working on this.. i got to the 2nd video and my row are not ending right.. i definitely know how to count to 250 or close to it.. I'm 2 -3 stitches short.. different everytime 🙄i even stitch marker every 50.. i wanted to make this for my mom's birthday and have it sent to her by Nov 6th
Hi Bonnie! This is awesome! I would like to do a sample to see if I can do it. Could you tell me please how many chains should i do? I hope that you understand what I am asking.
Sure Sissy! All but one of these stitches is a multiple of 12 + 2. The only stitch that won't fit this protocol is the Shadow Box, which is a multiple of 10 + 2. You can easily fill in the extra stitches at the end with additional double crochets for your swatch/sample.
Over the summer my grandson and I found out we both like Celtic things. He mentioned he would love a long scarf. If I made this for him where would I end to keep it from being too feminine. Or do you think the width would be ok for a male. Not sure if I should end at the other set of cables after the diamonds. Thank you.
Great question Tracey! I actually have a sock/fingering weight yarn scarf coming this Monday that I think could be for either a man or woman. Perhaps change up the color and don’t tell home the name of the design (Rahab’s Scarf!) 😊😂
I would work a few rows to see if the curling goes away. If not, it could be your starting chain is too tight. If so, work the starting chain with a larger hook, and then return to your gauge hook.
I'd like to buy some very warm yarn for this scarf. Wool or Alpaca. Something soft that will hold up well. But I need to know what others might recommend for this, and how much. How many yards/meters? This is so beautiful, but I've only ever worked with acrylic. I'm told natural fibers are SO much better and I really want this to last me many many years.
Any worsted weight fiber should be fine Sherri. Acrylic will also work. All the information you need should be in this video: th-cam.com/video/LUV4ErEWknE/w-d-xo.html
@@BonnieBayCrochet Thank you so much for your reply. I plan on using just one side of this, and making it into a scarf for winter weather. Winters in Michigan and northern Ohio can be brutal. And I have a bit of a walk from my parking garage into my work. So style AND warmth are a must! And this is just too gorgeous to pass up! After having made a trip to Ireland and seeing all the beautiful sweaters there, I need a scarf to rival them. This pattern will do that for me. :-) Thank you for a beautiful pattern.
HI Bonnie, such a beautiful project. But I have a question I am having trouble with :( : why does my project tend to decrease as I go along rows?? Please advise thanks
It would greatly help me to help you if you could send me a photo of the problem to bonniebay@me.com. If this is happening with the cable rows, it could be you are skipping more stitches than you should? Is your stitch count staying the same?
Where are the second and third video located. I purchased the printed copy. It'll be here in about 8-10 days. I would like to follow along on videos please
Hi Bonnie. I am thinking about starting this but I really have my eye on your Rose Diamond Stole from Dec 2011 The magazine is out of print now so is the pattern available elsewhere. If not I will start on this one . Thankyou. x

This is available with Annies. You may need to purchase the magazine for the pattern.

@@BonnieBayCrochet You are welcome my pleasure have a nice day and stay well
I am enjoying working on this wrap.
Thank you super excited to get going💘
Thank you. Love it!
You can add multiples of 12 to the existing starting chain for all but the center motif. You will need to recenter this.
@@BonnieBayCrochet Thank you so much. I'll give it a try, it sounds complicated tho :)
I think I'm ready ☺️
Me encanta todo lo que tú haces, se tejer pero no puedo ver bien tus puntos, ojalá algún día pueda realizar esas bellas mantas gracias por compartir 😃❤️👍✨✨
Incrivelmente maravilhoso!!!!
Hi Bonnie, If I want to make this wrap longer, is it true that I should always count in groups of 10 chains?
Had a hard time and had to rip out starting with cable stitch row town times. My work looked flat and I didn´t get that raised row look you had. Had a lot of trouble with cable, finding which stitch to go into, especially when sc into chain.
Oh dear! You can always e-mail me a photo and I can try to see what's going on Stephanie. My e-mail is bonniebay@me.com.
Thank you.
LG lally

@@BonnieBayCrochet Thank you Bonnie, I will experiment, thank you for your advice
I love this wrap! It's beautiful, I'm going to make several of these for me, my maid of honor and my bridemaids for my wedding.
That's wonderful Kelsey! I would LOVE to see the photos, and above all, CONGRATULATIONS!! I truly wish you the very best!
Thank you. :) and I will happily show you.
@@kelseymotley5584 I hope your wedding day is wonderful! My daughter got married this past June and we had such a wonderful day, and on a budget. Best wishes!
@@BonnieBayCrochet thank you very much, we're having our wedding in the fall and we're also kinda on a budget but it'll be a DIY themed wedding.
Please feel free to use any worsted weight yarn that you enjoy.
OK
Hermoso trabajo!
You can make small sampling of the stitches in the stole and perhaps mimic the stitches of where you want them placed on the stole.
Hi I was wondering could you use the chainless single crochet for the first row? I am new to using it. Thank you for the wonderful video tutorials.
Add a few sc on those rows like 2 in one stitch it'll help make up for the missing stitches.
Having fun making this. It's gorgeous.
Do you have a left video I’m left handed and it would really be helpful to see it done most times I can get it
@@BonnieBayCrochet Thank you for your reply!!!
It's wonderful! Buy May I have an italian version? Thanks
But
Hi could you tell me the chain repeat as I want to make a blanket with this patten
Beautiful, thank you!
I’m totally lost after completing the diamond section. I think there are 3 rows of single crochet & then ????
Hi Bonnie, as we will use different wool Guage, what will be the length of wrap? So it will be easy to adjust crochet needle and stitches.
I have no idea! Or maybe I don't quite understand your question. As long as you crochet to the gauge in the pattern, the length should be the same.
@@BonnieBayCrochet
How much length of your shawl?
Over the summer my grandson and I found out we both like Celtic things. He mentioned he would love a long scarf. If I made this for him where would I end to keep it from being too feminine. Or do you think the width would be ok for a male. Not sure if I should end at the other set of cables after the diamonds. Thank you.
Great question Tracey! I actually have a sock/fingering weight yarn scarf coming this Monday that I think could be for either a man or woman. Perhaps change up the color and don’t tell home the name of the design (Rahab’s Scarf!) 😊😂
@@BonnieBayCrochet cool I will watch out for it. He likes green and I found a nice darker green for him. Thank you for answering 😍
Hey Bonnie as I m little bit confused regarding the yarn I mean how much total yarn should I take in grams???
Can I still do this pattern if I want to use a thinner yarn?
Very beautiful
Dear Bonny
I startend with a smal crochted naald So the first is curling up what would i do 🙏
I would work a few rows to see if the curling goes away.
Is your stitch count staying the same?
hi there Bonnie would like to know wat skill level these stitches are thanks so much 😊
Daniela Canto this is an intermediate project.
beautiful
