    I have thick and oily skin and the new Ginseng Moist Sun Serum leaves my skin really shiny. I find the Relief Sun Rice Probiotics is much less shiny for me. I love using their sun stick as my 2nd application of sunscreen because it mattifies my skin.

    Thanks for a thorough explanation and comparison!
    I agree that sticks are both less easy to use in sufficient amounts and harder to evenly apply. However, I still LOVE this specific sun stick and would recommend it for anyone who has both sensitive and oily skin. I never use it as my only sun protection, but I have started regularly putting it on top of a sun lotion/cream as a finishing step because it really does make my skin look way less oily. As a bonus, this strategy means I also don’t have to use that much of it, which reduces the cost.
    In addition, something about this formulation makes my rosacea prone skin calm *way* down every time I use it, which makes me less self-concious about my redness and therefore less likely to need makeup every day. No idea why that is, though. Does anyone else experience this?

      I use it for reapplying. specially during mid day when i am already a bit oily. I used it to mattify plus sunscreen.

      I think these very matt sun sticks are veery convenient when you are outside and want to fastly and not messily apply spf on top of your hands . I hate feeling of creams on my hands and this feels like nothing.

    Thanks for the Beauty of Joseon update. I love the Relief Sun on my older, drier skin. It really feels great under makeup and my skin feels protected and moisturized. I’m happy to have found it on your channel last year! No need to change for me. (And your nails looked great by the way)!

    Personally I only use water resistant sunscreens because where I live, Kuwait, the weather can reach 55*C which is around 130*F . Once you step out of your house and get in your car your sunscreen would have melted off. So water resistant is a must!

    I tried the original Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun, only to find out that I am allergic to the Ginseng, as it caused hives. I surmized that it was the Ginseng ingredient because I had the same reaction to their Ginseng Essence Water and the Ginseng Cleansing Oil. I wanted to stay with Korean sunscreens, so I have switched to the P. CALM Water Barrier Sun Cream, and have had no issues.

    Thank you so much for this review. I had been thinking about trying this new B ofJ sunscreen. I am with you 100% on fragrance in sunscreen. Other than the potential for irritation, the last thing I want is a fragrance following me on a hot day. Korean and Japanese sunscreens have made it possible for me to wear sunscreen on a daily basis without dreading the experience. There is also enough variety that I can stock up during sales, and I have options when one is out of stock.

    I have the original and the stick. They're both good, the stick especially for those of us with really oily skin. But just like most sunscreens they're not great under makeup. I don't care what most people say, it does mess with my foundation unless I use much less than what is recommended.

    • @ThingsAbove333
      @ThingsAbove333 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I know! I've pretty much given up on sunscreen under makeup. I feel like the base layer of sunscreen only lasts 1 1/2 hours at most which honestly means I have to reapply most days before I even leave the house for the day! I've recently been using an spf setting spray(milani) and looking into some powders and spf spray sunscreens for the face. I am kinda interested in this stick. I've seen other youtubers apply it over makeup without it messing it up too bad.

    • @evaluna7650
      @evaluna7650 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to have this issue but I found that for me it helps to put less moisturizer on (because this particular sunscreen is very moisturizing) so i use an oil free lotion (from cosrx) and not too much. I also switched foundation. Before this I used to use a charlotte tilbury foundation and now I use a moonshot cushion foundation. I think maybe by using a cushion which uses less product and using less moisturizer it actually stopped this problem. My makeup now stays on a looooot longer and doesn't separate. Maybe this could help? It also doesn't become cakey.

  • @CloverBell13

    I've not tried the serum and the rice + probiotics sunscreen stung pretty bad on my skin. The stick however I LOVE. I don't use it as my primary method of sunscreen application, but I love applying it overtop of a more lotion type sunscreen to lock it in, on areas such as my nose and eyelids (places that get more oily or are more prone to stinging). I find the matte finish of this stick to look much more natural than a makeup powder by comparison.

    I can’t use the America approved organic ( aka chemical) sunscreens because of the salicylates (e.g., Homosalate) to which I am extremely allergic. Many (maybe even most) of the physical (aka mineral) sunscreens contain butyloctyl salicylate, which means that I can’t use them either. That’s why I use Korean sun protection most of the time. So far, none of the Korean “chemical” sunscreens cause issues for me, and the BoJ rice sunscreen is one of my favorites.

      I have had a few small pimples so I'm not sure whether it is the sun cream or the heat and humidity that caused it. So, I've always used the La Roche Anthelios factor 50+ (European/Uk edition, fix fluid and hydrating cream version) and found it to be great at protecting my skin, especially as I use tret. I switched to beauty of joseon relief sun cream a year ago because I loved the formula (doesn't irritate my eyes at all,I can put it on my eyelids) and how layer-able it is, however; I am now the most freckly I've EVER been. I've got two huge clusters under my eyes in an area I've never been that freckly before.
    To me it begs the question, is it comparable to la Roche? I have also just purchased the sun serum from beauty of Joseon, Its a beautiful formulation, if you don't like sunscreen you'll love this. It does however irritate my eyes a little bit and it does pill ever so slightly but, it may just be incompatible with my other skincare, but it's not an issue I've ever found with their other sunscreen.

    I've ordered the stick but due to the very long lead times I haven't received it yet. From what I've read, the big advantage of the stick is that you can use it to mattify a sunscreen that's a little too glowy, which solves the problem of quantity because you only need a little stick on top of a cream (like the one with probiotics) to mattify the result with excellent coverage since you have both layers. But as I haven't yet been able to test it personally, it's my ambition but I can't yet confirm whether it works or not ;-).

    • @morgianasartre6709
      @morgianasartre6709 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I LOVE the stick sunscreen for reapplying over my makeup when I'm out and about, on city trips etc. It's non-greasy and mess-free. Its that or no reapplying at all, so it's better than nothing in my opinion.

    I bought all the Beauty of Joseon products with ginseng in them. Unfortunately, I believe they irritate the absolute crap out of my skin. Super bummed. I was really excited about the retinal eye serum.

    My skin is generally oily in the T-Zone. I use La Roche-Posay Toleriane moisturizer and the Relief Sun sunscreen and find that the sunscreen actually reduces how oily my skin gets throughout the day. I also used niacinamide and Retin-A before summer started for anti-aging and to normalize oil production. I noticed that my skin was dry and even heavy creams weren’t preventing tewl. I would still wake up with dry flaking skin on my forehead (skin was brighter and smoother though). The Toleriane moisturizer fixed that and the sun relief never dried me out layered on top. The Toleriane moisturizer and Sun Relief sunscreen worked amazing for my skin at its driest and most oily. The Beauty of Joseon Sun Relief sunscreen is hands down the best sunscreen I’ve ever used.
