This is a cover of Battle ~Da'at~ by Ryota Kozuka from Shin Megami Tensei V & Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. I have remade the track in the style of Shoji Meguro's rock battle tracks around the PS2 era of SMT games, as if Shin Megami Tensei V released on the PS2 in the mid to late 2000s.
To celebrate the release of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance today, I thought I would cover the battle theme that you'll likely hear the most in Shoji Meguro PS2 Rock style. Ryota Kozuka's style is very different from Shoji Meguro's in that he has plenty of little flourishes throughout his tracks that Meguro often doesn't, meaning I have to find a balance between the styles when making the conversion. Luckily, this track is relatively simple, guitars are rampant, the vox synth has been replaced with piano and organ has replaced the synth pad in the B section. In the same section, there is a droning synth which gets pitch bended often, so I tried to replace it with a similar synth used in tracks like Title Loop 2 and Staff Roll from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. Speaking of which, I also added some custom Nocturne -style vocals in place of the chanting in the original song! I used TTS Albert with some effects just like the original to narrate some KJV Bible verses from Genesis and Revelation. I tried to keep it very authentic, so I hope it turned out okay.

iirc, Shoji said he could compose for a new mainline game if Atlus asked him to do it. Imagine him throwing new bangers alongside Kozuka, Konishi and Tsuchiya.
IMO Meguro is leagues above the newer composers, their tracks nearly always sound unfinished, they're missing an extra "act" or the melody simply doesn't go anywhere.
My actual dream. Considering that SMT IV’s Tokyo theme is Meguro’s fav, I think he would COOK with them.

I remember people saying about how the nahobino hears the remix of the normal battle theme from smt nocturne during the demi fiend fight. I can imagine that the demi fiend hears this while fighting the nahobino.

This is awesome. Now even though you have all the original high quality assets go ahead and fire up unity and compress the absolute hell out of it. Like really compress it. Like even though the PS2 had a perfectly fine sound to the console compress it really really hard. So hard that it sounds like a 2006 AMV. Atlus will hire you for every remake after that.

Logic Pro X! I've been using it for years and I find it much easier to use than programs like Ableton and FL Studio. If you have used Garageband at all you should feel right at home.

how did you get the tts albert vocals? looking online i havent been able to find a way to reproduce them
I use Mac OSX and all of the legacy TTS voices are still on it! Albert is also layered with itself, pitched down, distorted and has some delay to replicate how it sounded when Meguro used it.
This of course slaps and I'd like to ask if you have a link to the specific TTS you used? I've been looking on google and it's surprisingly difficult to find

Wow you nailed the lead guitar tone perfectly! This is really amazingly done, def does nail the PS2 Meguro sound! The piano reminds me of SMT NINE even if that wasn't Meguro.
The ending theme would sound amazing with this style.
