    Cost: $100-$2500
    Skill Level: Beginner
    Tools List:
    String trimmer
    Hedge trimmer
    Chainsaw
    Push lawn mower
    Leaf blower
    Rototiller
    Pole saw
    Snow blower
    Wheel barrow
    Ride on lawn mower
    Resources:
Roger and Jenn determined that battery powered tools work well for small to medium sized yards. While these tools were effective compared to gas tools, one setback they noticed is that batteries are not interchangeable across different brands of tools, and most companies do not make full lines of battery powered yard tools, meaning multiple batteries are required in order to make the full switch from gas to battery.
Roger and Jenn saw a variety of tools manufactured by Husqvarna (www.husqvarna...., Oregon (www.oregonprod..., and Greenworks (www.greenworks....
The battery powered ride on lawnmower is manufactured by Ryobi (www.ryobitools....

Ear protection is very important when using battery powered yard equipment. Gas powers engines keep you from hearing the wife nagging, kids screaming ; & neighbors asking you for your tools or help.

I’ve had a greenworks mower for 7 years now and it’s still going strong. It has plenty of torque to compete with the gas models. I just pickup up their string trimmer today, excited to use it.

Ear muffs with the electric mower? That's one of the advantages. No noise. About the only battery powered yard tool that can still make some noise is a leaf blower.

    • @joshuaychung
      @joshuaychung 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      EOSJOE
I was thinking that, too. The electric mower is no louder than your vacuum cleaner. I generally have some ear buds to listen to music but not to reduce the noise.

    • @KlueBat
      @KlueBat 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I have an electric mower that I picked up this season. When I first went to use it I had cans on my ears like I usually would, but I quickly realized they were not necessary. Heck, my mower is so quiet I have no hesitation to mow the lawn in the late evening or early morning. Neighbors are never going to be disturbed by what is basically electric fan noise.

Ah, the problem is there are dues on the ground early in the morning, and generally, these electric lawn mowers do not have the power to cut through wet grass. I tried it once trying to beat the heat of the summer, but my mower just won't cut through the wet grass all that well.

I really like the idea of battery powered lawn equipment. Last month I purchased a DeWalt 40volt lawn mower and a 40volt string trimmer. Both are excellent for my medium sized front and back yards. What I really love about them is that the batteries are interchangeable with each other, so if my battery runs out of juice on my mower before the job is done, I can just take the battery from the string trimmer, pop it right in and finish the job. These battery powered tools perform just as well if better than a gas powered machine, so I'm very pleased with my purchase and highly recommend battery powered equipment!

I have this system and have had it for over a year now. Ear protection is a joke when using this mower. It is sooo quiet that you think someone down the street is mowing and not you. I LOVE this Green Works system! I bought it for my 80+ Mother and she loves it! Light weight, super quiet, easy to start and will cut thick wet Alabama grass! Also, the lawn mower does NOT require 2 batteries. It just will last longer with 2 but you can run it on 1. The thing is when one is used you can put it on the charger and still mow with the second one.

I've been using Lowe's 80v system for the past year. Mower, chain saw, and weed wacker. No more gas, no more seasonal maintenance and the mower weighs about half as much as the old gas mower, and quiet.
On top of that I threw a pair of solar panels on the roof of a shed so I don't actually have to lug the batteries into the garage for a recharge. I mounted the chargers on the wall along with a Dewalt charger so I have all my bases covered.
    Love it.

I'm invested into the Ryobi 18v indoor tool & 40v lawn tool systems. It's nice to be able to buy bare tools since you already have the batteries. The only gas engines I have left are my garden tractor, ZTR & lawn vac/chipper.
All tool companies are moving in that direction, corded tools & small gas engines are going the way of the Dodo bird.

Saw this on TV the other day. I hate to see that TOH has become just a sponsor's showcase for the past few years. I'm also surprised the "Greenworks" company (under China based Globe Tools Group) hasn't been sued by Ryobi for using a similar green color. I thought it was a Ryobi specialty line at first until I researched it. (The riding mower at the end is an actual Ryobi product.)

If you have anything bigger than a postage stamp-sized lot go for gas or plug-in Electric

I bought a Ryobi 40v lawn mower and a trimmer last summer. When the batteries work they've been great. But I've had a lot of problems with the Ryobi 40v batteries as so has a ton of others from the reviews I've seen. They just stop working. The trimmer one stopped after three uses.

I highly recommend the brand EGO in the US for electric lawn equipment. There's no better.

I also wondered about the ear protection? I guess you get used to wearing them with gas mowers I don't use any with mine,

You don’t need hearing protection for battery powered yard tools they’re pretty quiet

Ear protection for electric?😂 I came here because I want to recommend these tools to HOA so I can get some good sleep 💤. What I need is the quietest lawn tools to recommend.

Would be great if there was some kind mandate that manufactures had to standardize the battery

I really want to like my greenworks electric. It's quiet, compact and easy to use. But even with four 40 volt batteries it struggles to cut all of my average sized suburban yard in one go.
