that music is 'Oh By Jingo!' I sang it in a panto at the Floral Pavilion in the 1950s. It begins' In a land called San Domingo, lived a girl called Oh By Jingo..'

This is fabulous. Fascinating to see how it looked when my mother and grandmother lived in Wallasey Village. Many thanks.

I grew up in wallasey, not far from the village... so it was awsome to see how it looked long before my time there & the surrounding areas such as what we called the boys breck, great the old bat tower as a church before it was bombed ( if I saw that correct)
Is there anything out there about Alfred road near Rankin street, ??? as my Grandparents & great grandparents & uncles and aunts lived there before moving to Rankin street. Alfred rd got demolished at some point I was told. Anyone out there who was related to anyone who lived in Alfred rd ? or Rankin street. Be great to hear of your memories & who you may have known, as it was all very close knit back then, everyone knew nearly everyone. 🙂🙂🥰.

Great to see. My Nan and Grandad used to live in the old grammar school on the breck. Every Sunday we would walk to the Breck and play for hours. Dad and Grandad would be in "The Ship Inn " for a "quick" pint.

As kids we would play on old Spraggs Farm. There was a pond at the bottom with all kinds of wildlife. The field sloped down from Breck Road and we found an old cart which we would laboriously push to the top of the hill before jumping on for a slightly dangerous journey back down. One day some "big lads" turned up and they decided to give the old cart one last glorious trip by setting it on fire before we all jumped aboard!I seem to remember we got about half way down before we all had to "abandon ship!"That was about 1960.Such happy days!

Who needs the Luftwaffe when you have Wirral Borough Council. Should have remained Wallasey, Cheshire.

I was surprised to hear Wallasey used to be in Cheshire, and I thought it was abit odd considering it's nowhere near Cheshire. Probably would've been best to stay in Cheshire keep all the scally scousers away lol.

      @@Embracing01 It literally borders Cheshire.

@@Embracing01 All of the Wirral peninsular was part of Cheshire, note the sign on one of the old pubs "West Cheshire Ales". The old county of Cheshire was roughly teapot shaped with Wirral forming the spout. And, of course, Wallasey isn't far from Chester, the county town of Cheshire as was.

15:11 this is not the site of St Chads… this is the site of “Our Lady of Lourdes” Catholic Church on Gardenside. St Chads is on Twickenham drive.

You reference St Chad's but I think you mean Our Lady of Lourdes. St Chad's is in Leasowe itself on Castleway North.
Great photos though and well assembled.
