To be exact, it's the version of Answers that was playing everywhere in the days leading up to the shutdown of 1.0 as Dalamud got closer and closer. Haunting indeed

Ya it does it looks like he was channeling it? I'm hoping at some point in endwalker when we go to sharlayan. We see him again at some point just like Haurchefant and Lady Ice Heart when we fought Esteinin in Nidhogg form during heavensward. They came to help us out removed the eyes.

This scene never made sense because it doesn't even make it look like he gave his life. It didn't explode. It didn't fight back. Nothing. He cast a spell, it worked and the screen glowed blue a bit. I'm fine with him sacrificing himself, but it just wasn't well done.

Papalymo's japanese voice is a woman? The english dub has him as sort of older nerd geezer. Now I feel like having a second playthrough with the original voices.

I think early on in ARR storywriting, they gave the Lalas like Papalymo and Tataru high-pitched lady/kid-like voices in Japanese to go along with their petite stature.
Then they probably realised that they did not want the whole Lala race to sound like growth-stunted children, so the Lalas that came later with Japanese voices like Lolorito, Yuyuhase and Pipin had deeper male voices (since all 3 are male anyway)
