I don’t know what it is. I keep watching this every few days. It makes me smile. I love their relationship. It’s so heart felt and romantic. If only we all could be so in love with the simple things.
So lovely to see a comment from you here, I've watched some of your interviews as well, very lovely stuff, I love seeing how supportive this community is to each other. :)
a few years ago I wondered if we would saturate the spoon carving market, now I realise we are only just starting. There are thousands of potters around the country and still only a few dozen serious spoon carvers. I think this gorgeous film sums up what it is about better than any I have seen. Wonderful.
Charming video and couple. Robin...just a note to say I have many carving tools, including your axe. But I can not do without your spoon knife, a real pleasure to use. Thank you for the fine tools.
robin wood there are thousands of potters, all struggling to make a living! I find it hard to believe a spoon carver will make a lucrative living with good assets built up and a secure pension selling spoons at a couple of pound each. Mass produced and Internet sold possibly (just) but for most people wooden spoons are over as are zinc baths by the fire, cast iron pots, hob nailed boots and flat caps!
You are right edward Charles spoon carving is not a way to get rich or get a pension. I'm retired with a pension and I carve spoons to sooth my soul. If anyone wants to get rich, spoon carving is not the way. However one can let their creative soul loose carving spoons.
I am just getting started here in South Africa thanks to a Wood Tools kit for my birthday from my beloved! I have never met someone who carves spoons in this country! Thank you for the inspiration, Robin and the Spoon Carvers (PS: Robin, your hook knife sharpening video helped so much, even though it still took me three tries to get it right 😅)
Wow. Such a great short film She is so photogenic, she reminds me of a strikingly beautiful photo from the 1920' s. Seems like a simple life....yes! I did enjoy this. Thank you!
I carve spoons too. Love your film. Charming couple. And I once lived on the fair isle, so there is much here that speaks to me, past and present. Thank you.
Loved this video very romantic nature lot of art & home grown music you can not get a better video than that. This is why i scour youtube lo0king for romantics like yourself. everything about it was a 100% shear joy thank you!
Your comment certainly made my day and I passed it on to Lally and Tomas. They now grow beautiful veg Have a look st their IG acc @haypenny_market_garden
I was expecting another "how to carve a spoon" tutorials, but this was so much better (given that I don't actually need to learn). I grinned all the way through and felt slightly envious of their life- though I do have soon carving, ukulele playing and I camp a great deal. Good luck and best wishes to the carvers and the highly skilled film maker, I hope you all continue to find such joy.
See when someone works with natural materials I feel a great joy in my heart, I grew up in the country, and still live in the country, I'm a country mouse, and you both get the whole picture, that is the best part of this video!💚💛
Enjoyed it very much. You guys are super cute. Very well made video And your spoons are super cool. Wishing you both great success. Thanks for sharing...
Absolutely brilliant video/film. One of the best I've ever seen. Those two are super! Humanity has a chance it seems. I pop this on when I want to feel good. Thank you!
My grandfather used to carve spoons and became very well know. He would make special presentations to world leaders and dignitaries in recognition for peace on earth. Nelson Mandela was one of the many recipients. My grandfather was a proud Doukhobor and exceptional human being.
You people are awesome! It's cool that you guys are enjoying the same thing together. I sincerely wish you guys the best and that whatever you wish for will come to you.
Beautiful film, lovely spoons, and a personal favourite subject of mine, coz I carve a few spoons too. I use walnut oil for finishing. Long life and happiness with your carving. I'm willing to bet there's very little sandpaper in your workshop ;-)
I like your style. I make spoons but mine are both carved (the hollow) and turned (the handle). The serenity you seem to have found in your craft and skill must provide you with great satisfaction. Good luck :)
Thx for sharing this and very well made! I carve spoons and other things as a hobby (not selling), but I can definitely say that it is addictive!!! Where ever I travel, I MUST get some wood so when I am back I can carve something from it as a memory. Most of the times I will do the carving right there (if I am there long enough).
you have 108 comments before mine, and that is something wonderfully blessed, so I see a universal Yes. I can see your spoon-making involving others. A spoon-making ‘retreat’, with the same gentle permaculture vibe your lovely video has. . . I think i am hooked, just watching. What I wouod like to make is a nested set of spoon and forlf, or spork mabye. I have some wood carving tools in storage, and a ravine close to me where i love to walk. . .
Watched a year ago and came back to watch again Well done video and so soothing. That's why I like spoon carving..... and all those wood chips laying around.....perfect
@@daveholte7658 I'm working on applewood this morning. As much as I stropped my knives, this gnarly wood is dulling them down. I'm looking forward to getting back in to my cherry. Similar look without the sore wrists haha. I have 6- 16" logs to go.. 24 serving spoons hopefully I'll get from them.
Such a pleasure to see you on this video after a while (we met @ fines Lames @ Jane & peter's place). I hope you're fine and keep on carving. I hope to see you again . Ludo

Saturate the Market or passion. Market Shmarket / just Carve It. Swoosh stock is up.

It's that lovely fresh unspoiled complexion.
Mad props you two, I envy your love and admire your connection to one another. Basics of passion for life, love, and spoons.

I don't mind the wood chips, but my wife does haha! Sometimes the dining room is more cozy than the garage!
