This make me feel a little better I just accepted a cvicu position that starts in October for new grad residency and it’s 16 weeks orientation but I’ve been reading icu books while I wait and focusing heavy on cardiovascular sections lol, I ain’t trying to make no new grad mistakes 😩
My orientation as a new grad in cvicu was only 12 weeks. Well it was supposed to. I didn’t make it. They felt like I wasn’t good enough, so they transferred me to a tele floor after 5-6 weeks.
I’m sorry to hear that. If you are still interested in working in the CVICU or any other ICU I recommend looking at other hospitals in your area. Maybe you’ll have a better experience and orientation elsewhere.
Thank you so much for this, I am a foreign trained new grad nurse starting out in the icu, I am super nervous because 1. I never got the opportunity to have a clinical round in the icu. 2. I feel like there are so many new skills to learn especially with the fact that I didn't study here in the United States. so I have been looking for anything icu related that can ease my anxiety.I just hope I get a very patient preceptor who would understand.
This is exactly me right now. I start residency in CSU next week. Foreign trained 10 years ago. I am very anxious. How did it go for you @Queen-EstherRN. Please share. May God guide and order our steps.
I’m on my 5th week of preceptorship right now and I can tell you I feel a lot more confident and knowledgeable than I felt when I made that comment. There are still days where I question my choice of the ICU but I can tell you that it gets better ❤️
This is me right now, but i have a different problem, I feel like my English is a bit lacking on speaking part, I feel very shy and scared to pronounce this medical vocabulary which shows me like retarded, i am on my 2nd week rn, everyone is very nice to me but I wish I could be more fluent, I am open to any recommendation

Any updates how it’s been after a year?

I found your video very helpful! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much! Great review:)
where was this new grad residency program?
Thanks! This was extremely helpful! Were you taking these classes while you were working? Or before you started working?
I was working full time while taking classes
Also, the classes were factored into my hours for each week
@@nursebaebrittAre you currently still working as a CVICU nurse?
