Jiu-Jitsu Escape | Side Control Escape Into Darce Choke

  • One of my favorite side control escapes, because of how useful it is and how many back-up plans exist in the sequence. This escape can also lead you directly into a couple of different potential submission opportunities. My favorite thing if I hit this escape is to look for the Darce choke. Let me know what you think!

    The best ending position (worst for the opponent) in bjj/grappling, with that arm trapped like that under immense pressure of the top body. Thanks for sharing :-)

      No doubt. It sucks really really bad.

    This honestly is great as a escape because when you have the grip the opponent is worried about a submission and not blocking an escape

    Wat about a variation?... if top guy dips his head to the mat to duck the backstroking arm, then bottom could bavkstroke over arm and head, wrap and hip escape out and slide other arm under the open armpit to vlose the darce setup, then sweep to floor and finish the darce.

    Hi Eli, I really like triangles, armbars, kimuras, americanas and guilotines. Could you make a video where you show how to attack with maybe 2 of those at the same time to make it harder for your opponent to defend?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea. I’ll have to think on how to put that into video, but a combo attacks video would be cool for sure. 👍

    I've always called the choke you had no name for a pillow choke. I don't know if that's correct, but that's what we call it here. Also... my arms are like 4 inches long can I ever hit a darce?

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve heard it called a pillow choke or a Howdy. Just not anything that most everyone agreed on, so I left it out.
      And there’s definitely ways to hit a Darce with short arms. Check out Rener Gracie’s shallow Darce explanation if you can find it online.

    Wow amazing set up! Definitely gonna be looking for this next time I roll. Is this one of those plan B moves? Where plan A I would be trying to plant my arms and shrimp escape out but if I couldn’t this would be my back up? Or should I go and attempt this first.

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely Plan B or C move. Check out some of these for what I would consider primary, and even the ones that this is built off of.

    Hi Eli, just wondering how quick would we have to do this during a live roll? The gym I go to, we’ve been troubleshooting top side control, when the person on bottom side control has both arms in we switch our arms around as shown and we have to drop our hips at the same time and scoot our hips up to the face which I’m concerned would make the d’arce much more harder to pull off. Any tips?

    Hi.. what if the opponent sprawl their left leg. Will it be blocking us to bridge over ? If it is.. how to work it out?

    It's pretty cool but I worry my opponent will get my arm and apply a figure 4 as I try to wrap his head

    • @KnightJiuJitsu
      @KnightJiuJitsu  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      His arm is out of position for him to do that. If I’m understanding you correctly.

      Knight Jiu-Jitsu I like this move. As I use the elbow escape 100% of the time. Not sure what he means but is it possible for him to also apply the kilo choke from the top. Just seems like a neutral position much like the 50/50 guard.
