Media was wrong before and they are still wrong. He won two cups and a CL berth in his first two seasons while juggling a flawed roster. INEOS is smarter than the media, they are not blaming the gaffer for the dip in production given the extensive injuries this past season. The decision to retain him was easy to see coming, unless you are ESPN or their "experts."

Am now convinced that the ESPN pundits are positively dumb. Did they see how the players celebrated the FA Cup win? Do they think that triumph (and the fact that ETH has delivered 2 trophies in 2 seasons) will not have galvanized the team? Do they think that ETH hasn't earned the respect of the Man United squad?
As for the "review", ETH wasn't hired by INEOS. Everybody above him had been fired - as part of their stated goal of revamping United's management system. Is it unreasonable for INEOS to say "we didn't hire you so we're going to evaluate your body of work and explore alternatives before making a decision regarding your future"? Isn't that the normal practice when under performing organizations undergo restructuring?
