You R correct. He at first says the letter then sends it but when it comes to the letter "L" he sends it first, then say "L" but then sends the letter "Q" twice. Just a brain fart for us old timers. Tom is SUPERB in his teaching and sending. He, like all of us as humans, occasionally make errors AND that is OK. One will hear that on the air. If you were to ask Tom, send the letter "L" he could do it correctly without even thinking, also with the letter "Q" or any other letter but when explaining something then trying to demonstrate at the same time, it easier to do as I "mean" instead of as I do or did. By the way, good ear to pick up that rhythm. I also caught that immediately and even had to back up the video of what he was doing. He was thinking one thing and doing another. He changed from, say to send, then he sent L then said L, then sent 2 Q's. He changed format which caused him to error. Anyway that is my guess.
I've come back to cw after a 4 year absence, I have to admit to being really nervous now, my receive speed has really suffered, there is a lot of poorly sent morse out there, speed now seems to be more important than accuracy..the whole experience has really put me off sending CQ anymore because the code sent back to me can be at any speed, more often way faster than I can read. QRS seems to have a limited effect..Really frustrating.

Send qrs. If they don’t , send qrs pse. If they don’t , leave the qso.
