- This video was made prior to my eye injury. I purchased the LOSI DBXL in February of 2019 when it was on sale off AMAZON. Since not many gas powered vehicles are bought at that time, the price was pretty much half. I've put links below where this GAS RC Dune Buggy is commonly sold:

2:12 You probably have learnt this by now ... but if you hear "1" pop with the choke on ... STOP, turn the choke off, and it will fire first pull. If you continue to pull while the choke is on after it ops for the first time, it will flood itself. And the way you said you took the air filter off, and it slowly came to life proves it was flooded. That "slowly" coming to life was the poor engine trying to burn the exxcess fuel off ... and having the air filter off during the process helps. Also if you ever flood it again, pop the filter off, hold the throttle wide open, and pull it over. (Get ready to let off the gas once it fires and cleans up) Beautiful car btw :) I love my 1/5 scale gas'ers :)
I love RC. I'm glad that people still enjoy it.put a smile on my face to see someone across the street playing with one of these.

With my gas powered weed wacker. Lawnmower. Tractor. Etc. I often think about switching to electric. But come to my senses Because nothing beats a gas powered. I need the long running time and power. So in my opinion it's worth the aggravation and maintenance

I have a rc car with a 3.3cc engine and I thought that thing was big, i can't image 23cc in an rc. Awesome car

I like how a big brand like Losi makes a gas car that is worth 900 dollars but has a hard time starting. But I got a clone of the HBI Baja and for 500 dollars all machine aluminum with a 150 dollar 30.5 cc engine and when we got it brand new it started up on the first pull. And now it starts up every time love that thing!!

Nice car i like that it has a spark plug and not a glow plug which is what my last rc had and i was going through the plugs like crazy

Being gasoline powered is so cool because it’s so much cheaper than the nitro
The irony that it's a K&N body and the air filter was the culprit lol. Anyway I know what I want for Christmas
Be sure to push the primer bulb a lot more than the manual says. They NEVER say do it enough times. I've worked on chainsaws/weed eaters and 2 stroke model plane engines for years and not priming enough causes more frustrations than any other thing.
You're getting all the cool toys. I sure wish I was close enough to help you try them out.😁👍👍Try Muc-Off/MO94 for final cleaning. A lot of folk use WD-40 but MO94 is better. Made for bicycles but it cleans/preserves just about anything.

It's the mechanic in me. I hate an engine that is hard to start. I dislike things that don't run smooth. I mean no offense but it is kinda obvious when you're just a tad out of your "comfort zone" but you're not really. You seem to be a damn quick study and pick things up so fast. I flew planes and now drones in mode 2 forever and in one of your other videos, you picked up mode 1 so quickly. I've had friends that flew mode 1 and they would let me fly as long as I kept some height but they NEVER let me take off or land.
You have a talent my Friend that not all of us posses. Thanks for sharing it with us.
I recommend breaking in slow on a bench with a fan on it or run it on pavement. The grass creates enough drag to stress the engine and shorten its life significantly. My experience. Once broken in, dial in the air fuel mix everytime you run it. It's easy to do and you'll get maximum power and longevity.

Those 2stroke cars are so cool, I have two electric ones but you cant beat just filling it up from a gallon can.
Love that buggy. I had a 110 scale gas buggy many years ago. By way, I got a Bugs 4 quad on Saturday and love it. I keep it on LOW speed as quick enough for me. Thumb sticks feel very sensitive though and even slighted touch makes it move. Is there a setting so can make them a lot less sensitive buddy?
My radio is the trigger and wheel. It's been many years for me to use the control sticks. Sorry wish I could be more help

I always wanted to get a 1/5th scale but the prices get kinda high beyond 1/8th. Everyone I had that ran on fuel, used the nitromethane mix. Made my eyes burn to mess with. I was always really bad at tuning them.
I am in the market finally for this gas powered beauty but due to the customer feedback I have read, I will purchase the orange losi 5ive-T 2.0 instead. If I'm going 5th scale gas, I want the best. It seems like everyone who bought this $900 buggy had to invest $200 in to it so I have to say buying the new 5T 2.0 is absolutely a no brainer. I cant wait to take my new 5T to the park mudding and doing jumps!!! Not going to buy on Amazon. I'm going to my local hobby shop. Jon-
They need to re-design the gas dbxl with upgraded parts with extreme durability and maybe I'll consider it in the future. Jon-
So far this buggy has held up very well for me. It is more a dirt buggy than a BASH buggy.

It's a two stroke. When brand new the rings are tight. Just give it some gas when you start. Just like a two stroke weed eater or dirt bike.
Did you put foam inserts into the tires, or did you run it like that straight out of the box?
Straight out of the box. Only mods were exhaust, filter cover & wing.

There's nothing as fun as nitro. Sure, it can be a pain sometimes but it's always worth it to me. I think people are actually starting to get back into them again. Hope you had fun with yours.
I have a Nitro Slash, still in the box. I'm hoping to take it out this spring.

It is a Wing from a RED CAT buggy. It comes in black so I plastered it with stickers and held it in place with one zip tie. Works great! Think the price was $11.
