I totally agree. I just discovered her tonight and can't stop watching reactions to her stuff lol. You can't help but get pulled into her joy and the smile is inevitable. Until her, Metyl Cohen was my fave. -So now I have two :)
As you seemed so curious about her setup I remembered a comment I'd seen on someone elses reaction "Paul Kerkhoff 11 months ago I finally got in touch with her setup guy, Hiroshi...and she is using 3 overhead mics, 1 condenser mic in front along with 2 overhead cameras, and 3 cameras floor level...hope this helps.."
I read somewhere that there is a condenser mike on the floor in front of the bass and 3 overhead mikes, and they are using 4 or 5 cameras. Its quite a setup as described.
Even Gee the drummer from Dragon force has a video up of him watching her.. loved it to. You should check her out in a band setting under Trident, Voltage.

I know nothing of drums kits, but I heard one reactor posit that the mic is a high end one that is placed perhaps between the toms? If that makes any sense, lol. Great reaction, just found this amazing talent tonight while watching Marcelito Pomoy _The Prayer_ reactions and can't stop watching her do her thing now, haha. Talent of epic proportions. Damn. Imaging what she'll be like at the amazing Metyl Cohen's age!
A lot of drummers have asked, where are the microphones on this video. I don't know, but people have commented they're overhead. I know in future videos you will see them in place on the set.

If you like Junna, you will LOVE Yoyoka, another young Japanese drummer who is just amazing. She comes from a musical family and has been playing the drums since she was three. She is 12 now and developed into something VERY special. At 6 years old she did an amazing cover of Dazed and Confused that got her rave reviews. At 8 she won the Hit Like A Girl competition in Los Angeles, the youngest to win since Senri Yamaguchi. She is literally a prodigy, as she doesn't read music but plays by ear and can do a complete cover after listening for 2 days. Last October, for her 12th birthday, she did a series of sessions with some of the best session musicians and singers in Japan, covering Burn, Jump and several other classics. You have to check her out. She has also been giving drumming tutorials on her youtube channel since she was 5 or 6. You have to check her out.
From what i understand. I read in other comments over the course of years. Someone said one mic is over head and one right under in front of her kick drums. Her new videos she has a new set up where you can see her mic's
A comment on another reaction said the mikes were above her head and gave all the technical jargon to go with it. If I remember where I saw it I'll pass it on 🙂
there is another Japanese drummer that is called the "Little Big Engine". she is as good as Junna but the can play this intensity much longer ( that's why her surname ). her name is Haruna Ichikawa. she is the drummer of the band Lovebites. just check her Live on the song "Soldier Stands Solitarily". i know there is a version on TH-cam with camera focus on her and improved drums.

She is not that super young as she might seem. I am unsure of her actual age, but I believe she is close to 25 years old or so from what I have read. So I think she is around 23 or so in this video. Which is still young in the grand scheme of things, but not 12 - 16 years old like some people seem to think. That being said, she is a good drummer regardless and indeed has a lot of showmanship. Always fun to see her play.

She's older than she looks in her covers. The pigtails have a lot to do with that. If you look on her Instagram, she has plenty of pictures with her hair down, and that makes her look older. She's still young, but she's -legal- somewhere in her 20s. Great drummer, one that I would have loved to play with when I was in my 20s and could have had a better chance at matching her energy.

I dunno what to tell you Dan, but this was genuinely first time I’d heard this individual. There are many thousands of epic musicians out there that we all would be lucky to hear about, but it’s not possible to be aware of them all sadly. Not hearing of a particular artist does not therefore make someone unable to play musical instruments themselves. There’s no correlation there.
