The magnetic timeline follower was the only new option I really liked, or use. The tracker I didn’t really notice much and the Export feature wasn’t worth noting. But thanks.

Very cool. The scrolling timeline will remove an annoyance, but I'm excited to see what I can do with the improved motion tracker.
Great video, and made me jump up, grab my laptop and complete the update. OHHHH and I can't tell you how much I ❤❤❤ the scrolling timeline (I did have to activate it myself). I hadn't specifically realized how much that would improve my editing speed, but I am way ahead on the game for one of my clients already because I was having so much FUN editing some of the upcoming videos for him. HA! I did not have any issues with plugins. Thanks for the tip on compressing the old version first.

Thanks Jenn! So excited to test this out! I wonder if some codecs benefit more from the segmented exports than others? Even so, shaving a minute or two off an export is still excellent.
Scrolling timeline! YES! Finally! I like it, but it needs to be smoother... it seems a bit jittery to me. Hopefully they can make it scroll as smooth as butter in a future update. On the "Collapse to Connected Storyline" feature... how does this differ from creating a Compound Clip?
This is different. Compound clip is just one clip. The collapse fo Connected Storyline keeps all clips separated.
It's the same, but with an Extra creative apple name 😂

Thanks for getting straight to the point. Many other 10.7 videos that are over 30 minutes. Don't have time for that. I gotta get back to editing! I like the colors feature honestly. So I can colorize my clips on the timeline to keep editing notes for clients to go back to at a later date to fix.

Nice update Jenn. I’m for the scrolling timeline update. My FC trial runs out in a few days. Currently trying out DaVinci. After a few movies with it, I will make a decision to which one I will stick with for making content. Thanks again for the video.

Motion has been stuck at Version 5 for over 10 years now. It's a great program but it needs to be upgraded more.
I think the segmented exportation would be mostly helpful for Motion where rendering a lot of composite layers/graphics can take a notoriously long time

You can assign the colors for the audio and video roles. Also, can they please simplify the fade in/out for videos! They did it for audio, why not for video. Like for example, in Da Vinci Resolve you can just go to the beginning or end of a clip, and just drag the fade in/ out feature.

Thank you. YOU are a life saver! Two questions 1. I'm doing multicam editing. I've got the main two angles set up in Multi viewer but Camera 3 is not showing up in timeline editor. How do I get it to appear. 2. I shot with three cameras: 1&2 are fine. The 3rd is an iPhone 14Pro that I shot intermittently for cutaways from the speakers and the Q&A. However each shot created as a different angle, a dozen additional angles. Is there a way to combine them? I've already been editing, so of course I don't want to recreate the multicam from scratch. MANY THANKS!
Great Video. Can you show a timer to let you know how long it takes to export a video like Adobe Premiere does? For example, when exporting from the timeline, it'll tell you it will take five minutes to export a file. Can you do this in any previous versions of FCP like 10.6?
The whole zip file concept is very interesting as having plugins that no longer work is always my biggest fear. But once you open a file in an updated FCP and find out the plugins are an issue, how can you re-open them again with the older FCP version?
I think this is a major update because some improvements were expected for a looong time and it was almost a shame that Apple took so long... Thanks for this presentation 👍
Good. But What about Titling? Any new Titles? And does this version support NewBlue Fx?
When will they make the work flow for SSD like lumafusion or did they do that already and I missed the update? Having to store projects on the limited space is the deal breaker

Hello Jenn, pls help me with the following. On the left side of my fcp screen I can only get clips in a single top down row. I don’t know how to get f.i. five clips in a horizontal row and then rows underneath each other. Thanks, Frans Netherlands/Bali.
They removed the original large room and cathedral effects, now when I try to reverb audio it just isn't the same as it used to be. It goes for too long and doesn't just fade out the audio if that makes sense. I updated it without make a seperate file to go back to. Do you kno of a better way to reverb/echo out audio?

Hi ... why I'm not able to use CRM files in Final Cut Pro?
I've got brand new MacBook Pro max ... already installed Canon RAW Plugin 2.6 for Final Cut Pro and Pro Video Formats 2.3
However system saying: Final Cut Pro cannot open files of this type.
Why?
Do you have a video on how to copy plugins to the new version? I’ve got an old FCP on my old computer. Now I bought a new Mac and a new FCP. I’d like to get all the plugins from the old Mac and FC over to the new FC. And hopefully, still have the originals in place. Thanks.

But if you’re trying to reinstall mvfx or fxfactory plugins, those developers have their own installers. You’ll need to login to those accounts online and follow their instructions.

Segmented export only works if you have a Max or an Ultra variant of the Apple Silicon chips.
Correct - requires macOS Sonoma (or later) and a Mac with Apple M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2 Max, M2 Ultra, or M3 Max.
Does anyone know where 'loudness' has gone for sound. I use it often for talking head style videos - but now under the sound tab, it's not there?
still no vertical workspace, like premiere pro, vegas pro or filmora! Why???

FCPX Way behind Resolve. I can’t believe we ware getting excited over two little features. It’s the easy product to edit with but lacks so many features.
Use both? Final Cut is faster and Resolve is better for mastering and color correction. Soundtrack in Logic.
Wow your Mac is way faster than mine. When it’s time to render my project I just hit render and go do something else

I'm at a complete loss on this timeline scrolling feature: I didn't understand it when it was announced, and I don't understand it now that I've updated..... Wasn't it already doing this?!?! And yes I enabled it manually, restarted, etc.
@@seb-depp I appreciate it but I'm still confused. Maybe to me this feature just isn't important? FWIW I've switched to DR Studio for 90% of my projects

Ok, just so i can share my issue with you. My mac OS is Monterey 12.7.1 I need OS 13.5 or later. I'm am running Late 2013 . I guess my Mac is to old for the new update.
I feel you. I had an old Mac Pro in my home office that I finally had to put out to pasture this past summer.
there was a quick update after the update because when people updated they found that the update kept crashing

You can switch to Premiere at any time.

machine learning is a branch of AI, and no it is not “falling behind fr” this is exactly what a TOOL should have, machine learning, not algorithms that mimic the human thought process… that’s dumb.

Hello. Thank you for your great channel. I'm subscribed and learning a lot. But I have an issue. I have the 10.6.8 and does not give me the update option at all. My Mac says I have the last update but I don't think so. It's the 12.7.2 (21G1974) . This is really weird. I will appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance.
