The Prinny games are huge love letters to Ghouls & Ghosts. The stiff jumps, the extreme difficulty, and the obtuse hidden collectibles are all directly inspired by it. As a result, the speedruns of these games are on another level, especially when you already know how hard it is to get through casually. But this was a nice review, and it's great to see you had a fun time. Also, a quick side note: Asagi is a recurring character that was meant to be the main protagonist for a game called Makai Kingdom, but the game never saw the light of day. Now, she is getting thrown into basically every Disgaea title as a running gag, and her story always revolves around looking for ways to be the main hero, and failing at it.
One of the great things about both games is the fact that you can select any stage on whatever order you want and they all change depending on the hour you play them even having different variants of bosses and entirely new ones, real good.
Prinny 1 was so awesome I had to buy the desert edition on the switch, I'm currently on the boss rush for prinny 2 with 110 lives 😢😂😅 wish me luck! But I think Prinny 1 is better than 2 and hardest. Great review.
I highly recommend the DIsgaea games. If you're not into grinding though it may not be for you. They really aren't that difficult, they just require a great deal of time and a willingness to become proficient with the game's mechanics. If you're just playing a Disgaea game for the main story, just know that the story is only 10% of the game, the post game grind is where it's at. If you're looking for a place to start, Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness on PSP is great, but the games really got good at 4.

That is cool! I thought I was crazy, I thought that might be happening when I started the game but thought nah it’s not happening lol!
This sounds like a roguelike mixed with a platformer, which is pretty cool, and reminds me a lot of games like Rogue Legacy, or Dead Cells.
I haven’t tried those games yet, I recently picked up dead cells tho and am looking forward to trying it!
