This is great! Now all we need is a tutorial to get the wife on board😭
There's no simulator for that yet. We've been focusing on the wrong things!😂
What is a wife?
If she can't accept your hobbies (but Im guessing you accept her hobbies and ideas for the house) then you don't have a relationship or a partnership and that doesn't usually lead to good things.
totally agreed , its good if they add 2 seated cockpit for bf and gf to play together
@@varamgamming5943 That is probably not going to happen... getting your partner to accept you doing your hobbies is one thing but trying to get them to also do and enjoy them is another.
Some vr gloves could be handy for the location of your hands.
Or, XR?
@@원자번호5번 Yeah, now mixed reality made that redundant... but only if you have a good setup with most if not all controls
Fantastic! I recommend putting some markers on your MFDs center button on each row, just to make it easier finding the right button.
I'm currently using small clear rubber dots, you just can't see them in the video
Next step is to make the cockpit movable/vibratable so that you can feel the plane. And the step after that is to make it move in every direction so you could feel the Gs. At that point you basically have what real fighterpilots train with :O.
A butt kicker and a Jetpad at the least.
I have a buttkicker installed
Now just attach wings and a jet engine!
Yay slow people saying slow things.
@@thomgizziz?
Just curious, what something like this setup costs complete??
$2000-3000 or similar in £. Winwing gear will set you back the bulk of it the rest is switches and micro controllers. Then there is the skill set to design and 3D print parts or hand make from wood/metal/plastic. These are not quick projects. I built a basic (low fidelity) Harrier VR cockpit from cheap wood. 3D printed a UFC and a throttle grip and used thrustmaster MFDs that I have had for years.
All in the pit is around £300 plus £280 for an Orion 2 winwing stick. The throttle and nozzle control I have made. This is how it looks so far th-cam.com/video/XqD2TrtDpxY/w-d-xo.html
That was a fun flight, and the pit looks incredible!
You can project the real cockpit into the game. I saw that in a recent video.
Or you can add hand tracking to this setup.
Any way I could hire you to make a few things for my pit lol
Here is the question: How do you navigate your real hand in the Real cockpit and find the right button when you can't see them? Just depends on feeling or practice?
Do you fly with the autopilot, switching it on or off. You never seem to have your hand the hotas much. If I let go of my stick the plane just drifts all over the place. Never seem to get the trim as well. I hate to think I have to buy a $500 hotas to get the same performance. Great video by the way!
I do use the auto pilot quite a bit when I'm leading a flight.. but you should be able to trim the jet to straight and level pretty easy with the FCS of the F-18.
I wonder if a flight helmet design could help with alignment? Would also be pretty cool
You have upgraded your simulation flight equipment again.😀
Man this is awesome. I also have a Reverb G2 and HP needs to release a software update to implement mirror smoothing. It drastically increases the quality of the stream.
It will be nice to filter the fast movements in order to reduce the head shaking/vibration.
Man I love your setup. I wonder if there are any ways to improve the experience on the vr and pit combination, like hand tracking or the use of cameras on te headset to show the actual cockpit in-game.
It would be amazing if you could somehow find a way to have your greenscreen background be the real time interior cockpit view from the game.
There should be a way to render a custom (back) view camera to your live OBS greenscreen background.
That is very impressive, but man my OCD kept wishing you could center the VR, who do re center the VR?
I made it a minute into the video before I realized that he has VR glasses on, yet still an amazing physical cockpit layout. Does the VR let you see through the goggles so you can interact with the physical hardware? The kid in me who wanted to be a fighter pilot, and the adult in me trying to learn how to replicate the dream as best as possible have so many questions.
Congratulation for your excellent job!! My question is how can you find a physical button in your real cockpit with the visor on your eyes? Do you need to touch panel like a blind person ? :D
It lines up almost perfectly with the virtual cockpit you see in the headset. you just don't see your hands reach out. Its very intuitive
Outstanding sir, Enjoyed the flight while I was eating dinner, thank you
If only we could line up the virtual hands with the real simpit. That would be a great addition as a reference. They need to be "non active" hands. So no clicking buttons in game with the hands.
Now it's still too much "feeling around" because the calibration between real and vr is off.
The fact that you gotta remove your headset too often proves that.
Did you setup the voiceattack yourself or used a pre-set from somewhere?
A much better system already exists, search viperwing mixed reality, you can see your physical body and cockpit projected inside VR.
As it stands it's very expensive but I'm sure in the future it will become the norm for these types of enthusiasts.
Will love to join you some time for a mission i am Really rookie in F16 , just got it. i like it though.
Very nice flight and nice pit!! Thanks for sharing!!
Looks amazing. If only I had the money lmao
How come your displays are different that whats displayed in sim?
The game will not export MFDs in VR currently. I just have screenshots set as the backgrounds for the displays. If I play in 2D then they work correctly
So there is no sensing of your hand movement?
I have a hard time seeing aircraft at a distance in VR, my monitor still out performs the VR my many miles.
So I use TrackIR for those situations.
I do like to fly in VR though. The situational awareness really helps.
varjo aero/x3 or x4 and a 4090 is on par with a 4k monitor. ground targets are just as visible. We have reached that point, it just cost alot lol
Are you playing vr chat?
atari had better graphics
What do these cost and where can I get one?
VR and real cockpit not thing. need make choise VR or real cockpit
why??? Have you ever tried it? The cockpit is all about not having to use the mouse.
Why is the vr shaking very hard
6 min in, is this a button pushing sim?
Why can't current VR devices recognize hand movements and simulate them in the visual display? You know, wearing VR goggles and not being able to see the position of your hands really feels terrible.🤣
❤❤❤❤ YEEEHAAA ❤❤❤❤ I love it ❤❤❤❤❤❤Its a better vr Mode, as in ace combat 7❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
"Mr Self,.... that was @#$#awesome!!" cool organized communication brevity...etc.. waiting for my winwing modules etc. see you on twitch! Awesome Job!
so how do you see the buttons with the vr headset on?
thy are int he same place in VR they are in the real world.. so I just don't see my hands
The only thing missing is a video mixer, a blue/screen, and a camera. So you see yourself in a cockpit.
Great pit mate.
Now...about that TEDAC build you were doing! 🤣😝
VR and Must the Buttons 🤷🏼♂️🤦♂️🗑️
Hey John, your videos are great, but you can increase your CTR (Click-through rate) by making your thumbnails stand out to the rest. This is done through eye catching thumbnails, which my service provides. I have also made a free sample thumbnail for this video so that you can see if you wish to use my service. If you would like to see the thumbnail, pricing and details please reply with an email. Thanks
This is where im.trying to get my setup and my channel
Imagine mixed reality with pass thru cameras and your hardware.
Ask, why do you build a cabin practically the same as the F18 and then use VR glasses?
Wouldn't it be better not to use them and thus be able to see the real instrumental you have made?
they are a 1:1 in Vr.. so even though I don't "See" what Ive made, I can interact with it easily. After I spawn into a jet, I don't have to use the mouse at all
@@DCSTex ok ty
To be honest, I will prefer trackir or eyetracking if I build a real pit like this.
Very cool. Thanks. Can you tell me how you manage touching the correct buttons on your mfd under vr without any controllers or sensors on your hand? Just by memorizing where to move your hand and hoping the right button in the vr clicks? Or can you see your cursor moving while moving your hand? Thx
for the MFDs I put a little tactile sticker on the center button. That way I can feel the middle button. If I get the VR center just right I really don't even need them now.
Ah i can see now how you go to the center button and then move obver to the right pb. 👍🏼 thx.
One more, can you also use the mfds themselves without vr? Or did you just put some pictures in the frame because you only need the pb?
@@kutscha2 the displays work out of VR very well..in Vr you can get them to export but its a bit wonky
Damn John freaking Epic man, I need to Get Me A Pit
The game its Just like that or it have more action
its a study level sim, not an arcade style game
Great
Did you startup with your port engine first?
it would be cool af if you had some kind of G force generator
How much all up? in US dollars
Very cool. I thought the pit screens would mirror the in game screens.
unfortunately DCS will not export the DDIS while using VR..hopefully that changes soon
Sir is it shake all the time when u using this VR
would love to get this for the F16
Great setup! I have a cockpit with MFDs amd Warthog F/A-18C stick, but nothing like that! I noticed your AMPCD was not in sync between RW and VR?
DCS will not export any of the displays while in VR currently. They are all just screenshots saved as the backgrounds of the monitors
You built an insane cockpit so you can use vr and dont even see it :D smart .
its more so to not have to use the mouse and keyboard...
@@DCSTex thru my few minutes in the f-18 on mouse n keyboard,
i hated it
If you don’t mind sharing, what are your specs for your PC?
th-cam.com/video/efW8NiW3xEs/w-d-xo.html
with flight sim do u use?
Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS World)
A hand icon is needed but damn
Kind of stupid if you can't see your arms.
why do you say that? I guarantee you I can find/work switches way faster than with a mouse, plus I don't have to be looking directly at the control to operate it like you do with the mouse?
I don’t play these games I was just watching the video. It would be much more realistic if just encased yourself in a 360 screen instead of that head monitor.
Do you have hand tracking?
Tex doesn't use hand tracking at the moment - but the physical alignment does helluva job
When doing a demo video, it would really help if you talk through each step, there are many steps from starting the engines to engaging the catapult……don’t have a clue on what you did, great setup
rtfm
Did sim app pro update so the VR can run along with the MIP screens?
its not a sim app pro issue, its a core DCS issue. DCS will not export DDIs in VR mode currently
coooooooooooooooooooooooool keep up
Is VR always this bouncy or is that just on playback?
its the head movements being picked up by perfectly still video. you don't notice it in game
OH MY GOD !!!! INSANE
Men, you are a genius
That's awesome!
This is so cool man.
omg this is so cool
Yay! Air pigs!
AWESOME!! ❤
I’m hooked!!
Very nice!!
Cool!!
This was great to watch. The in cockpit view is a bit anrrow though. Maybe You can play around with the size and placement of the face cam . Keep it up tho. You've got a new subscriber
thanks..yeah I'm not happy with either camera really. I ordered a couple to test with.. Hopefully they will be better
is it possible for you to record of the output with the AR part also to see how it looks like ?
not sure what you mean.. I built this to work with Augmented reality when it becomes available to consumers. As far as I know the one headset Varjo has that will do it will not work with the normal DCS software. What few videos are out there are of the commercial version
@@DCSTex Ah you dont have it yet. I was thinking you did becayse you where saying about aligning yourself and was pressing buttons without removing headset :)
Quest 3 supposedly has very good look through, though dont know how possible would it to be to set specific areas to be like that
Why go to at all the expense of a cockpit and use VR..!
so you don't have to use the mouse at all
Y not trackir
how much is all this rig?
I've definitely spent more over the years with upgrades, but I think if I had to reproduce it in its current form from scratch I could do it for $8-$9k. 1/2 of that is just the PC.
would be interesting if you could get some sort of hand tracking, like a glove maybe. I've notice when I play vr, if i cant see where my hand is in the environment i have no clue how close or far i am, even though it seems like it should be 2nd nature. Like with buttons and stuff if i can't actually see where my hand is, its rough. If you had a tracking glove to put your hands in vr i feel like certain buttons on like the MFD for example would be easier.
I use little rubber stickers on the middle MFD button so I can "feel" the middle button. It takes a tad more feeling around than other controls since the buttons are so close together but its still way faster than using the mouse
@@DCSTex ah makes sense. Still would be cool if hand tracking was easy/accessible.
@@KAYDdubz yeah... I do think it would add in some additional problems, if the Pit didn't perfectly align/ scale with the virtual pit, then hands would be slightly off which might be more off putting than not being able to see your handle at all.
@@DCSTex that’s true. It would definitely be a lot even *more* of a hassle to get everything aligned.
Im gay
Don’t know who needs to hear this but Jesus loves you no matter what you do he will forgive you
please kill the awful background music that is way way way tooooo loud
so sorry it was another running software that was running the musiic
@@richardchambers4673 haha..I was really confused...
Hey man, do you think haptic gloves could improve your setup? You could have your hands and finfer in the game!
"There goes my hero, watch him as he goes!"
We need an appearance of the OG Tophatter soon!!!
@@DCSTex *dusts off assless chaps and flight suit*
so your mother never loved you?
Like you even had one
Not saying you should be in fancy dress. but cargo pants ant a green t might be better
Freaking amazing !
