Lovely build guide, Mark! I look forward to next episode, I am on summer holiday, so I think I will grab it tomorrow, see if the gears get mounted to the chassis soon, very exciting! Was nice to see the belt tensioner, very simple, I need to custom make one for an old Kyosho buggy I got in my list of projects, one more reason to wait with getting me an XV-01, he he...
Great to hear you are on a summer break Mads! I hope you're enjoying your time. Good luck with the old Kyosho, I'm sure you will get it sorted out. As I keep saying, don't wait, get an XV01!!! All the best my good friend! 😎👊👍
You manage the fiddly bits well Mate!! A tip.... That plain Nut, holding the tensioner Bearings in place, since you don't want it getting too tight, and certainly don't want it to loosen... I would absolutely put a small bit of Loctite on it, to prevent unwanted movement. I'm actually surprised that Tamiya's instructions didn't advise that! That Kit is going together very well. Really makes me want one!! 😱😊 I just wish I could drive Screws in as fast as you can!!! 😜😎😂😂 I see various comments about the camerawork. I think Rob did a top job!! Because the work is a lot of black on black bits fitting together, I would suggest some more lighting, *behind* the Camera. On Digital Video, the backlighting really sharpens the clarity! And no, I'm not a Photographer as well, but my brother-in-law is, and he suggested that. 😉 By the looks of it, that's going to be quite a performer! It just went near the top of my list! 👏👏👏👏🍻🍺🍺 The Day WILL come, when I can get one..... and Several MORE!! Cindi's Surgery is in 24 hours from now.... We're both quite nervous. Trying to stay positive for her though. Cheers, Carmine 💥 ⛽
Many thanks for the tips, Carmine! The little nut is firmly in place - no worries! And the backlighting - Arrgggh - I had so many lights on it's untrue - but the camera keeps compensating, I should have set it to manual - too late now, all the filming is finished on theXV - gut next time!!! Tell your bro-in-law "thanks!". :-) All the best for you and Cindi, Mark
No worries Mate! I was apprehensive about saying anything... your Videos are already far superior to anything I've done. Better Quality than most I've seen out there!! 👏👏👏🍺🍺 I had forgotten about the Camera compensating for any increased Light. I saw EVERYTHING that you were trying to show.... I'm just always thinking - lately FAR too much!! I was more concerned for the less experienced missing something. But then, you've also done a fantastic job of explaining things clearly. Sometimes, I gotta keep my 2 Schillings to myself!! 😜 I was legitimately concerned about that But backing off. I should guess that Tamiya had thought of that already! Anyway, thoroughly enjoying watching your Build, impatiently waiting to be able to build one myself!! Thanks for your kind wishes! We're going to need ALL we can get.
Cheers, Carmine! I genuinely enjoy all of your comments, but please don't be apprehensive about any of them - I can tell that your intentions are all good, and it's great to get some constructive feedback! Both the points about the nut and the lighting were spot-on! I really need to rethink the set-up in my shed where I film the builds - I thought putting the white paper on the desk would help with the clarity, but it made it worse! Most digital cameras have CMOS sensors that automatically try to set the picture brightness and white-balance, but all that white and reflected light threw my cheap Sony handycam into a spin! I had about 6 different lamps on, but ended up having to BRIGHTEN the images in the edit! I think more contrast in the frame will help - I can't afford a proper film studio! Thanks for following along buddy - and fingers crossed for you today. Mark
Hello Mark. Very nice to see Part 2 of your building Video .I enjoy every second .When assembling, there are always difficult passages, but to solve these problems is incredibly fun. Having built a rc car yourself makes it twice as much fun to drive it.I'm really looking forward to Part 3 and wish you a nice Week.
Great continuation Mark, and rock-steady camera work from Rob. In another comment you mentioned very tricky parts coming up in future videos. I'll look forward to those and your solutions. I find the same thing - at some point during a build comes a component or stage that has me pulling my hair out. But like you, always get there in the end. Sleek production my friend, enjoyed it immensely...😀👍.
Thanks for the continued support, as always my friend! Yes, Rob is doing a sterling job on the camera, my son, Alfie, has been too busy lately and Rob has stepped up to the plate! I'll be sure to pass your comments on. Yeah, some very fiddly bits to come, but we will get there! Every build has, as you say, the hair pulling moments - I think the body shell in this one is the worse. So pleased you are enjoying it mate - thanks again! :-)
Cheers, Charlie! Yes, I enjoy making the gearboxes - but those darn screws are SO TIGHT to screw in - I thought my wrist was gonna give in! I enjoyed fitting that pesky belt drive too - but that's for another video! I don't mind the shock building - at least when they are not friction shocks :-)
Don't have any interest in getting an XV-01, but I'm loving this series so far. Really in depth and you demonstrate some good technical skill when it comes to constructing certain parts. As in, I'm watching, because I'm sure by watching you I'm learning stuff that will come in handy in the future. Keep it up. :)
Thank you, Mookelol - that is such an encouraging comment, I am very pleased!!! Especially if you don't plan to get an XV-01. I'm glad you are following along - in the next couple of videos there are some very tricky bits indeed, where I had to think very hard to find a solution! Words like yours make the effort of producing a video like this very worth-while, so thank you again! :-)
I think I speak on behalf of many. In a way your videos are kind of therapeutic? I mean, it's not that I'm "writing off" the idea of getting an XV-01, it's just I have a TT02 as it is and am going to stick to it for now. But if I do decide to get one, at least/hopefully I'll have your assembly videos in mind to make it a bit easier.
Cheers! So you have a TT02? Great Tamiya you have there! So versatile and with so many option parts, if you choose to go that route... Good one to stick with mate! :-)
Thanks, and yeah, I have a TT02. 4 pole 4000KV Hobbywing system @ 60A on a 2s LiPo. Got a new body in the mail from Modelsport, and a new set of tyres.
Wow, I bet that TT-02 shifts! How are the diffs and bevel gears holding up with the 4000kv? My son stripped his bevel gears on his TT-02B, and that's only running a 17.5t brushless! Funny you mention a new body - I just got a new Subaru body for my TA-02, and new wheels and tyres - hopefully when it's done it will look like a new car! I hope to make a video of the "makeover"! Modelsport are a great dealer, I use them to. Have fun with the new additions!
Haha - Yeah, Rob, I should sack the idiot who was filming that shot - in fact I did, and then hired you again! Cheers for all the help mate - much better to have a cameraman than a static camera, lucky me! ;D
I've just bought this pre built of off ebay. But no electrics. I am a total new and no idea. What parts can you recommend. Low to mid range is fine for me price wise. Links to parts would be amazing.. thanks

Hi there, the plastic used for the XV01 chassis are much stronger than the TT02 plastics, I think they are reinforced with carbon fibre! Great quality 👌

It starts looking like a proper chassis on the next one :-)

Very nice build! This is one of my favourite parts. The only thing I really don't like is building shocks :)

Hi someone mentioned i might need extra long wires for the motor? Will the motor suggested fit out of the box?
Are the parts made of the classics plastiky tamiya material or of some higher resistence mqterial compared for example to the tt02
Hi there, the plastic used for the XV01 chassis are much stronger than the TT02 plastics, I think they are reinforced with carbon fibre! Great quality 👌
